A New Year For UPC

Post by Bob Harper » Sun Mar 19, 2006 10:46 pm

hey UPCers
the snow is melting and i don't know about the rest of you but i,m stoked. Trish has allready been to texas for a race and kicked ass. you go girl!!! I hooked up with a set of randall r2's for $25.00. I cut them down to a 106mm they rock for ts. now i'm going to build me a better designed board and zig zags and i'm set for anything Martin and Billy throw down. after all they like to see us wiggle the fat right off our hips. Kevin did invest in a timing system, with the exception that the big time display dosen't work at the moment"soon to be fixed" it dose have a hand held display. we ran a cyber course with it and it works great. give that boy a toy to practice with at his bekon call and i think he's going to be the man to contend with this year...... It sound like Eric Shaffer has some great connection for races. along with Martin's good thing could happen in the place to be.

by the way WHERES MARTIN
he's kinda like the guy with the red and white sweater and stolking cap with the round glasses,,,,,,,,Hard To Find...

Springs riding soon!

Post by trish erickson » Mon Mar 20, 2006 1:41 am

YA, I'm stoked! I just got my zig-zags. Can you say hella-fast!? Yes they are. And pretty too. My goal this year is to be somewhat close behind you big guys. Can't wait to get out and ride. I still have Martins cones. I guess He'll come lookin' for them soon. We are going to have to plan some events and I was hoping to maybe drive up to Oregon to the hood river games if I can get the time off. Anybody else? We need to make the world feel our presents! LOL. Can't wait to hook up again with ya all!

See ya soon,

Trish

Trucks for Trish

Post by trish erickson » Sat Apr 15, 2006 2:07 am

Yo Marcos,

Thanks for the info. I have never been to that website. Its bookmarked! And I love the "family" picture. YOU guys rock! I acually decided to visit Ashpalt Playground and bought a splitfire from Gary fluitt. Should be a good thing. It's what I have on my PP.

And Mike,

You picked a good weekend to hang in Hawaii...Its going to rain all weekend. You lucky dog! Go have fun, Don't worry about us UPC'ers. LOL.

I rode the skatepark in Park city yesteday with my "teen" boy and his buddies. It was great. I was a bit wimpy at first, but my kid was cool and gave me great advice. ain't it great to be able to skate with your kids and its ok with them? LOL. Love being 41 and nobody cares!

Ride On,

Utah Trish

hopefully a race this year

Post by trish erickson » Sun Apr 16, 2006 5:31 am

Hey skater friends,

So you would all come to Utah for a race HUH? Ok, I sent an email off to a guy named Erek who has expressed an interest in putting one on. He's an ex- X games luge dude. I really havn't seen or talked with Martin or Billy Bordy but I'm sure we could put one together. So if we try to put one together say in late August or September or maybe in October, would that be a good time? THe weather in Park City held until late October last year. We have a great skatepark or 2 in park City that would be a fun place for a park slalom if anyone wants to try that. We have a great campus at the University of Utah that would make a great super G, mad dash, chinese downhill or whatever, thats fast and you could catch the rail car (our version of a trolley) back to the top. Lots of great bars to hang out after. YES, I believe this could be a great venue. And its killing me not to race with you all. Airfare right now is UGH! I am looking at the buckeye and Luna but alas...I am short a few pennies to fly.

MARTIN,

if you read this, please respond! Your valuable expertise is needed. and besides, we miss you.

And the rest of you UPC"ERS : lets do this!

Nearly ready....

Post by Martin Drayton » Sat Apr 22, 2006 7:56 am

Hey Trish,

Just catching up on sleep now. After 125 days on snow (working) and over 700hrs teaching I've had a little trouble staying awake!
This is a pic taken last week by Paul Price on a rare morning off!
Image
(For the snow nerds out there-Atomic 156 Rapture ,Rome Targa '07 bindings, Atomic Waiver Boots)

Paul was visiting briefly on his way back to London after Heliboarding in Valdez, Alaska...Oh the life of the jetsetter! Its a pity we never got a little skate session going so you guys could see him skate and see how good the Pros really are!
Version 4 of my TS board is in the pipeline, and this one is VERY interesting! Version 3 of the GS is not far behind and looks sexy as hell...Gareth and the boys are gonna shake things up this year!

Sadly the INS still hasn't done anything with my Work Permit/Green Card paperwork, so its another Summer of heavy manual labour at the Gulag Park City for $8 ph and 14hr days, can't wait.... :(
Just starting to order Slalom/Longboard stuff for the shop...Any requests UPC? Let me know asap...

See y'all soon,

zig zag

Post by Bob Harper » Sat Apr 22, 2006 3:28 pm

Mike
the new zig zags are great. the orange and lemons are a great combo. i tried them on a small hill for a moment and they were almost to fast. and as soon as one gets use to it is there such a thing as to fast. i noticed that the duro rating is a little softer than 3dm's so there real grippy. i ran some flatland last night with'em and they only accelerate.
I give'm Grand Pappy's two thumbs up.
I'm real busy with work and some personal family matters right now
but I hope to see you all real soon
Later Grand Pappy Bob

Hey guys, school's out, let's play, eh? Over the summer I'll be working for the Daily Utah Chronicle as a photographer (yay!) which means I've got access to several very nice (if older) camera bodies as well as huge, fast lenses in any range imaginable... and I can use them for anything I want.

This is good for several reasons:
a.) Publicity, via Silverfish or CW (or maybe even the Trib, who knows...)
b.) Fun, 'cause pictures are indeed fun
c.) Technique, the camera I love using the most is 5 fps which means I'll catch you on that bloody offset Martin laid down
and lastly (and selfishly) d.) Photos for the Chrony, I smell photo essay!

So who's up for some skating sometime soon? I'm itchin' for some GS action with Kevin's old Conekiller.
