we are so crazy,we only test and develop and race.
the world needs new and innovative stuff.
paul took some time from his busy schedule off to develop the outline for his roadster model,the mould will be cast this week(shaped by steve,who has rich surfboardshaper background),the first roadster will be done end of this week.
this will be the craziest,but most fundctional shape you guys have ever seen in your life.
it will also feature most of the innovations we made during the winterseason.
made out of canadian hard-rock maple,high density foam-core,aerocraft fiberglass and epoxy,carbon fibre-this board will sport in form,function,concaves,the really latest improvements that are available on the market.
the board has an aggressive,very responsive flex,no sag,a pumping-weapon,plus you'll have
loads of traction and control on this deck.
no more need for those shitty toe-stoppers,hahahahahaha
i'll post pictures immediately,once the beast is ready.

I am happy to announce that I am now riding for the Pavel Racing Pro Team.

Pavel is a well known-name in European skateboarding. Pavel has long been famous for its hard-core roots. Now its cutting edge use of new technologies and innovative design will put Pavel on the slalom racing map.

The new Pavel "Roadster" Paul Price model is close to being perfected. I am very excited about the board, which I designed with sports car influences rather than the traditional surf board shape and its non-functional narrow tail. With lots of input from the Pavel team of designers and builders my vision has come to life!

It is wider at the rear for better grip and acceleration and has wheel arches for power and control. The concave and spooned nose give terrific front foot-hold and the width at the rear and kick-tail make for some super rear-wheel drive power. Pumping this board is amazing. This combined with high tech construction techniques make for a light-weight fast board that is like nothing you've seen or ridden.

It's always interesting to see new shapes. I'm curious about the kicktail you mention. Your rear truck is mounted pretty close to the end of the tail. Does the upturn start before that point? Do you have any photos that show the deck from the side?

Well spotted! It is a prototype! Yes, after this photo was taken I moved the back truck further forward and wedged it more so it is negatively wedged. So now the trucks are positioned like a normal set up, but the kicktail acts like a wedge to keep that back foot locked in.

Interestingly, I raced Snowboards in the 2001 FIS World Cup and these race boards have a huge wedge under the rear foot, like a reverse gas pedal. It means the response going from toe edge to heel edge is that much quicker. Same idea here with the slalom skateboard.

Sorry Heiko, but with a baby 3 months in intensive care (she is OK now) and working for only $7.25 per hour for the resoert to keep my visa, I will have to leave you and Vincent to battle it out for Europe's top Amateur spot

I am saving my pennies for Morro and will be on my own shape torsion core deck by then, apparently it eats bamboo....

I finally got photos of the mark II protoype Roadster.

It features more concave, flared wheel arches and a carbon look, but is already being improved to have more concave, a smoother foam transition and more agressive styling!

The next improved Mark III board has just been completed in the Pavel workshop.

This board is like any fast sports car; lightweight, perfectly balanced and lots of rear wheel drive power from the wedged tail.

Note the metal Roadster badge near the rear truck.

This photo shows the wedge tail and concave spoon nose.

Here a rear view shows off the dewedged rear truck (and more nice graphics)

And heres another sort of truck - my Toyota Surf - note the Pavel wheel cover.

(no offense meant at all , but looking at the shape from the side [middle picture] reminds me of an insole for a sneaker, a really BIG sneaker!)

Maybe thats why the feet feel so comfortable on it!

The new board has got really steep concave on the nose. Anyone who rides concave pool boards will feel at home on this board. The steep tail means kick turns are possible. I rode this board at Watlington Skatepark too.

I really like the new Turner-like finish, the foam under the carbon is now super curved and flowing. I like the custom badges.

A nice view of the outline, note you can see the front wheels when you ride it - car type roadster badge is a nice touch

The car like wheel arches over the wheels hold your rear foot in place (and are very sexy)

The concave has been optimised and the finish is truly excellent. Get yours now!

The roadster concept is like that of the LWS sports car, light weight, good grip and rear-wheel drive. Think of the classic roadsters like the Lotus Elan and Jaguar XK120, and more recently the Mazda MX-5 .

Gary,

The latest Roadster dimensions are:

Length: 30 1/4"

Width: 9" front and 9" rear

Waist: 8 1/4"

Concave: 1 1/4 ", flat centre section

Wheelbase, two standard settings:
inside truck bolts 18 1/2" (47cm) for tight slalom
There are extra holes drilled at the nose to give 19 3/4" (50cm) for bigger courses.

Of course you can drill more holes in the front to customise your wheel base. The front
has a big enough area to make setting the front truck distance easier to cater for varying
courses.

I was travelling to a lot of races this summer and had only a 15 kilo luggage allowance
with the cheap airlines. So I took the one Roadster and was able to move the front truck
for tight and giant courses.

The board has a slight camber and flex, but overall the chassis is stiff with concave under
the feet to better transfer power from the rider's legs and feet into instant turn response.

You will need wedged riser pads under the tail to get the correct balance between the
front rear truck height. Most pros find a wedged front and negatively wedged rear give the
best car like steering. That is, the front turns more than the rear for a fast, controlled path
through the slalom course you are racing.

Last weekend my 1st at the Bude British Championships was another excellent result for the Pavel Roadster.

Managed to get in a quick weekend of surfing in Newquay and one of summer snowboarding on the glacier of Les 2 Alpes in France.

Thanks to Donald for advancing the construction and finish of the Roadster deck, at one of our Thursday night slalom sessions at Hyde Park in central London we had no less than seven skaters riding the Roadster boards!! Everyone who rides one seems to like the concave and width at the tail.

Heres a pic with us outside the Queens Arms pub, with Kate our barmaid doing a Daisy from the "Dukes of Hazzard". That's the Roadster sports car - the inspiration in the design of the Roadster skateboard back in 2002. Also in the photo are Scott and Adrian, new to slalom racing but getting faster every time they skate on their Roadsters

Looking forward to seeing everyone at The World Championships at Brixlegg,
This year the British team is the biggest of all the nationalities competing!

I now have the GOG trucks on the Roadster and they really work well.

I really like Paul's roadster. He let me ride one of his own board in Latvia and Sweden in 2006 as I brought only one slalom board.
Eddy, you'll probably also like the Gunner, the tail is quite similar, but the board is longer so it's perfect for hybrid and work great for giant.

I love my Roadster...Don drilled mine further back for the rear truck and it is simply awesome. So much power, control and quickness compared to anything else I have ridden.

Now I just cant wait till my custom GOG with a kicktail arrives...
but then Ill have to order another Pavel!!!

Ok dudes I ran the Roadster through a tight tech course tonite. Fxxk the board Freaking Rocks. I had shaved Avalons, but will be shaving some Hot Spots soon. And my Radikals. Quick synopsis. It lives up to its name, it is quick, goes back to center very fast, agile, enough room for my size 12 feet. I left the course with a smile. Nice design Paul. Great work Don. I can not wait to ride it again. Unfortunately it started to drizzle. What can I say I am STOKED!!!!! Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws.

Eddy, I am really glad you like the board! It does seem to work and at a race in London last month I counted over 8 people carving up the course on Roadsters.

It just makes sense to have concave and a wide tail under your feet. Seems like a lot of other boards designs are following the trend. I hope to get over to World Championships this year as well as a load of European races. 2007 looks like being a good year.

Donald from Pavel built me a new board last week, its in Kuro black and the quality and finish of his work gets better and better. They are all handmade and seem to come alive near cones!
