Tomorrow's the big day. Just in case anyone wants to know -- here is our plan . . .

We're arriving in London Friday night (June 13) about 9-ish and staying at the Huttons Hotel on Belgrave near Victoria Station (44 20) 78343726 (till our early Thursday morning flight to Zurich.)

Going to Brands race with Michael Stride. Thanks Michael!!

Train to Gatwick from London Victoria for
flight to Switzerland via EasyJet:
Thursday 19 June, flight 5003
departs London Gatwick (South Terminal) at 06:25, arrives Zurich at 09:15

Hotel one night (Thursday June 19) in Zurich at Zic Zac Rock Hotel, Phone: 01-2612181

Will train to Grueningen on Friday.

just a quick note: The OK is working on a live coverage of the event on the internet. Stay tuned, the link will be displayed. So the slalom world can watch the event online. How cool is that?

Wow, live coverage would be great! But I'll be there whether I can skate or not! Looks like I'll be working as a photographer rather than as a skater.

I went through the list of online registrations today and it is quite impressive. Gianluca has put together an impressive Italian team with former champions Gatti and Ugolini. And we haven't recovered yet from the impression of Luca in Paris...

With Richie Carrasco and Michael Dong warming up in the UK, looks like the coming weekend will be pretty hot!

Many girls and boys too. Great for our sport. Can't wait to experience it all!

Nice weather today, though lots of rain in the morning. We found a place to practice near Interlaken in the parking lot of "Mystery Park". Tomorrow we will visity the Matterhorn. Looking forward to seeing everyone Friday !

Came to Geneve today (Thursday) and it must be a record in high temperature. Hopefully it will not be as hot in Grüningen. Planing on a ride along the Geneve lake tonight when things cool down a little. Seen two guys cruizing on slalomboards so there are some sencible people here after all.

Hi Slalom Friends...

England was a blast! Great hanging with the locals and racing at Brands! Thanks all for your hospitality ... Mr. Stride you are a true gent and Simon Levene -- Brighton rocks!!

Richy and I are in Zurich today in the internet cafe at the moment. Really warm and very beautiful place. Trying to take in the sites and enjoy till we head off to the hotel near race site. Sounds like alot of us are staying at the same place at the Hotel Illuster Garni. Should be arriving sometime tomorrow (Friday) and want to make the practice session. We can get phone messages at our hotel in Zurich. Hope the train goes close to the hotel . . . See you all very soon!!

What is the schedule for the Swiss race? My work schedule is threatening to cancel my plans to race. What is the start time for the mens race? Is the tight on Sat and GS on Sunday? I am wondering if I left on Saturday early if there is any way I could make it to race on Sat. I am hoping I will be able to at least make it for the Sunday race.

Rafcing will start at 11 or 12 I think and we will start with the AMs and Girls and Juniors.

What happened or is happening at the Swiss Race? How did the first day of racing go? The last day of racing is probably drawing to a close as I type this. Was the web cam that Chris mentioned above ever posted anywhere? Any info would be good.

Luca took the 1000 Sfr. Won both days and did his usual. You saw faces of disbelieve everywhere. More later.

Hybrid slalom pro

Boys - Dylan got 3rd place both days. The riders that beat him were all 14-16 years old. He also qualified 15th in the tight (out of 50 adults) and 11th in the hybrid

Women - Lauren was 4th in the tight and 1st in the hybrid.

The pro tight was very technical - the riders said it was much more difficult than Paris. Luca won the tight on his old wheels Saturday, but then switched to Cambrias on Sunday to win the hybrid.

For the course info hungry:

The tight was set by Chris Hart and myself. Chris H. later decided to start in the Am class because he did not make the course clean. The guy just goes all the way every time he rides, bammbammbamm, he does not brake or limit his push, so he was too fast in the end.
The tight consisted of approx. 50 cones and Vlad would have loved it.

The giant consisted of approx. 38 Cones and was set by Pierre Samray and myself (Ed Brokmann could not whip his belly out of the bed early enough). The Giant had one difficult cone that took away some speed about midway, but it was fun to see people struggling to get around it and it was interesting to see the different lines and techniques.

I did not hear too many complaints about it.

Howard, I think you made a mistake putting Richie in the top 4 of the tight slalom. He was further down the list (I think in 5-9th somewhere). It was Paul Price and Maurus Strobel 3rd and 4th.

Luca WAS one second ahead of me in the tight if you look at best times.

You're right. We were struggling to remember the finish order from Saturday, since it seems like a week has passed already. Sorry, Paul. I'll fix the prior post.
