slalomboarding in the UK

Post by ellis lamb » Wed Oct 19, 2005 10:02 pm

does anyone know any good places, or clubs to slalom in the UK. Me and a large group of mates have marked out a run on worthing sea-front, and we are constantly told that we have to leave because it is a 'path' whick is to be walked on. (but people are allowed to rollerblade, cycle but not skateboard) and if we go there again we will be arrested!!!! suppose thats just life.
Thanks.

South Coast Skaters

Ellis, good to hear that you're carving cones down on the South Coast.

I don't know how you're fixed for transport, but Brighton has traditionally been a spawning ground for slalom. It's the stomping ground of Britain's top TS skater Simom Levene (or Smokestack) who designed the Brighton's Burning TS shape (LHS below) for http://www.pocketpistolskates.com:

Get in touch with Smallplanet Surf Shop http://www.smallplanetsurfshop.com They are just down the road in Hove and are pretty switched on to the slalom and longboard scene. I'm sure they'll know a few of the local legal spots to skate and may even be cajolled into sorting out a bit of informal comp as a way of marketing their wares.

But hell, if you're from down there then you probably already know this!

There are a few other isolated pockets of slalom; the Cornish boys are pretty hot through the cones and the London bunch practice regularly on Saturday mornings in Hyde Park, north of the Serpentine.

Check out the UK forum on both this site and on http://www.ncdsa.com to pick up on what might be going down. Winter is the usually time for 'Smack' talk and very little action!

Hope to catch up with you guys in the New Year,

Sam

Smack talk?

I reckon Paul Price has now earned the title of Britain's top TS skater due to his impressive list of results in the last few years...In fact I would say he is our most successful racer ever!
Hows that Sam! ;)

Oh, Ellis, I hope you are using that Turner Fatboy I gave you!

Martin can't sing, but claims to be able to dance. (maybe its the sequins?)

Worthing was the site of a comp way back when, I think Martin Pavey (now in Oz) organised it. We got moved on then too. Things dont change.

Ellis, drop Sam a line, he helped sort out mine. If he can't do it, he'll know a man that can!
