Entry Deadline is Monday, September 5th.
Entry Deadline is Monday, September 5th.
New sponsors include:
Gravity Skateboards
Pizza Port
Central Coast Surfboards
Sierra Summit Ski Area
One of our local sponsors is going to let me know today about some possible low cost lodging. They have three, brand new, two bedroom apartments in Morro Bay.
The apts. are not furnished at all, so you would need to bring sleeping bags and towels. I'll post more as soon as I know.
There will be a welcome party at the Pizza Port on Monday night, September 12th at 7:00pm. We will also hold the awards ceremony there on Sunday at 6:00pm. Tim Cowen of Wavelengths Surf Shop recently purchased the Pizza Port and offered the use of the Port.
I need to hear from all racers as to whether you are racing Pro or Am.
It's now 6:00am PST.

The Big Thank You
The Big Thank You!
My wonderful wife Maurine, who supports my passion for slalom and who does a lot of behind the scene stuff that is rarely noticed. She also was a wonderful host to the housefull of people who stayed with us during Slalom Week. I'm a very lucky guy.
Mark McCree, what can I say? Friend, title sponsor, true supporter of slalom racing and manufacturer of great trucks. Mark provided over $7,000 in prize money for this year's race.
Bill Boothby, builder of the Radikal trailer and the single lane start trailer we used this year. Bill also helped set and mark all the courses this year, setting the course on Main Street, even at 6:00am makes for an interesting game of "dodgecar". When we made the move to the Paso location for qualifying, Bill along with Cliff Coleman, Norski, Korten and deLosada laid out the courses. This guy has a real love for slalom, he took the entire week off from his cabinet making business to help run the event. He also coaches the Cambria kids; Sam, Max and Conner.
Adrian Pina is also another huge help to me. He designed the tees and posters for this years event. He's always there, willing to do whatever is needed to make the event better. Ran the timing for the park slalom event. I know he was quite bummed that he was unable to race in the slalom and TS this year due to "real world" commitments. He just smiled and said, "wait till next year".
Jonny Miller calls me everday asking what he can do to help. Every year he's the guy that gathers the business owner's signatures on Main Street and delivers the notices to the Pacific Street residents.
Denis Schufeldt...our announcer. Comes to Morro Bay on his own dime, just so he can talk about you guys and the sport he loves.
Gary Fluitt must get sick of me always calling him and bouncing ideas off him. I've known this guy since he was twelve, it's amazing that we're still putting on races after all these years. I threw him a big curve this year when I told him I wasn't going to time "elapsed times", just the difference between racers reaching the finish line. He was able to figure out at 6:00am how to make it work in Dan Gesmer's system. It was killing him not being able to race.
Bola, for the last two years has flown in at his own expense to be a course marshall, and a damn good one at that. He's also just a cool guy to hang with.
Derrick Seymour, our other course marshall and all around helper this year.
Lisa Byrd - The best scorekeeper we've ever had.
Doreen Lunsford a super course marshall during quals.
The MBHS Track Team for helping with set-up/teardown and being top notch coneheads.
John Stryker, Corey Moy, Tim Kienitz, Jim Cunnigham, John Rivera, PSR, Sam, Max, Conner, Hamid, Brad Jackman along with his brother and the Brown Bomber for always being there to help with set-up/teardown.
Maria Carrasco for all her work in capturing this wonderful sport on video. Everyone who reads this needs to buy her 2004 Worlds DVD.
Farid for documenting our sport with his photographs.
Hackett and Olson for setting the park slalom course.
Dylan Gordon for jumping in Sunday morning and setting up the PA. This young man is becoming quite a photographer. I think he may be back racing next year.
Dan Gesmer - Happy Birthday a day late! Maker of great wheels and trucks. Also the brains behind the timing spreadsheet.
City of Morro Bay who for the last five years has allowed to invade the town.
City of Paso Robles and Freda for allowing us the use of Barney Schwartz Park for quals. They issued us a permit in less than two hours.
The County of SLO, Julia Myers and Staci King for Turri Road and the Los Osos Skatepark.
The Pizza Port for their hospitality.
Chris Nolder - the timing guy. A real pro.
To the racers, a huge thank you for helping to make this year's event the smoothest of all the Worlds and the least stressful for me.
