I'm planing to come
Hi Rick,
I'm planing to come over next year in April. But this time only for the race. I have to go after to Hawai for one week surfing !!!
And this time, i will come with my big sister !!!!!!!!
She's the shit... Or is she shit ???
I will practice in the snow, i can see the white mountains from my home. I would like to show you a picture, but my photcamera is somewhere in the US.
I do a practice plan. One time a week playing squash, one time in the fitnesscenter and one time soccer training. I will be ready for next year !!
Cheers Jadranko

absolutely right corky
5 days per week at least 1 hour in the gym, pumping iron and aerobic training.skating 2-3 times a week.
you know that us germans are very hungry for next year.
paul p. told me that he drastically reduced his beer drinking and smoking habits and as far as i know he really spent the off season time surfing and getting into shape til now.during wintertime you can catch him in austria teaching snowboard lessons.
i think you will all see a different paul next year...

I was talking to Lisa Woodward my slalom sister yesterday. One of the reasons she said that she is not attending some of the Elite races next year is because the competition has become tougher and the courses are more difficult. Both of us agreed that we have alot of fun at GRS events. Let us not forget that we are the Grassroots Slalom Circuit. The courses are made so that both an amatuer and an Elite racer can make the course. Ricky Byrd is my favorite course setter by far,PSR and Mike Ohm can also set a challenging yet fair course. I attend slalom races because I have alot of fun at them. I am allways am stoked just to be there amongst my friends. I need to practice alot more, that much I know. But I don't want to travel half way across the country to munch it on the street and come back home wearing a cast on a bodypart. And sit out the rest of the slalom season. I know that every time I come off the starting ramp there is a chance that I can hurt myself, that is a choice that I have made. Luna Slalom Jam has eluded me for 2 years now,but I'll be back in 2005, this year I am bringing some new blood to the event, we are driving 14 hours to get there, but it is worth it. I still have a craving for Tower Grove Park in ST Louis. Red Clay through a great race this year, even some fellows who had never slalomed, gave it a try. The Gathering was a great experience. Grassroots must not lose its way. I will do my best to promote GrassRootSlalom in 2005, supporting GrassRootsSlalom how? By attending as many GRS events as possible and to attract new racers to the sport that I love. by hosting our own slalom contest in Texas GRS must continue to grow. Racers should not be turned away or imtimidated from a slalom event, GRS is about making all racers feel welcome. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws

I will make the course dude. That much I promise you. And I will hit some hills. Doesn't change the fact that I am craving Tower Grove Park!!!!! You more than anyone and your crew have piled into a truck and driven for hours just to get to a slalom event. Why? It is that type of enthusiasm that has kept GRS events alive. That being said I think that A: a course at that the both classes would be what I would vote for too. I thought the GRS was with newbies in mind. and B: Two courses would be OK with me too, and most importantly C: The call should be Rick's, after all is is HIS race.

I would agree with Rick that it is the course at speed more than just the speed, and if that is taken into account then those of us with no hills (like me) can still do it. But I would like to see the hill too.Rick Stanziale Posted: 26 Nov 2004 07:48 Post subject:

Eddy - I've talked to Lisa about the same issues, she is confident on hills, not so confident on technical courses. Byron Hall was a complete slalom newbie prior to last years race, and he conquered Trade Street. Specific skills such as "turning early" on big gs courses, should be on the menu at grass roots races.
The hill isn't nearly as death defying as I might have implied, please withhold judgement until I actually post a photo (and have a chance to skate it) - remember, I may not even receive permission for this hill (though Trade Street is a lock for next years Friday evening and Saturday qualifying).

I just booked rooms for 32 people, some may have to share beds/floorspace (i.e. - the first 16 people that contact me are probably assured beds, the rest will have to share or bring sleeping bags - the condos are very nice, brand new)Christopher Bara wrote:Hey Rick, can you post or Email me the names and/or ph#'s of a few hotels around the race site?

Wait. I forgot. It's just a block or two from UGA. Beer and whores are a given.

Count in a few guys from Detroit, Rick. Should we be bringing sleeping bags?.
I was wondering if youre going to do the GS in jamformat like the Pump Station. Seems like that could work out pretty good. Everybody gets chances to skate more. No long waits between runs. You can use both lanes of the road. There's no arguments for "cone out" or whatever, ...and pretty easy to figure who finishes in what spot when it's all over.
Not sure how you did it in the past.....

All I can say is you had to be there bro. There was a little bit of Sword Swallower in all of us. Those of you who were there know what I mean. The race was 1st class. The SLALOM STOKE was So HEAVY in GA. One of the BEST AWARD PARTIES I HAVE EVER ATTENDED. On the flight home to Texas the next day I literally passed out on the plane. Thanks to Joe Iocavelli for inviting all of us to the Buchart wedding that was being held there at the Hotel. I did not know Joe knew the Bucharts. It was so cool to see The Knuckleheads Sidlo and C-Favero, had not seen them since St Louis 2003. Look forward to seeing everyone at The Red Clay Cup. Eddy Texas Outlaws.

You know I've worked for years now in slalom skateboarding.
Last year I coached the US champions in both the girls and young womens category. Do they call me Joe the coach? Nope
Last year I found a great new hill for the Farm race. Do they call me Joe the hill finder? Nope.
Last year I personally recruited about a dozen new riders to slalom, helped them get set up on boards and start racing. Do they call me Joe the recruiter? Nope
Ya pee in one fan.....

Great.....and all the "Is slalom gay?" community needs now is to get ahold of that pic!
Hey, uh, Joe.....i've heard that little saying before, but i dont think the last line had anything to do with peeing in a fan.......
as for that pic........y'all may be laughing in the room....but....standing in front of that window bent over, what the hell were the people outside seeing???
I'm only going to be sober at racetime......
