[2004] ACSS#2 - Gorge Games - Hood River, Oregon

Slalom Skateboard Racing returns to glorious Hood River, Oregon as part of the 2004 Gorge Games and the second stop of the American Cup Slalom Series.
The Town of Hood River is all a buzz with activity this weekend and slalom skateboard racing will take center stage. There are plenty of other exciting activities going on in town this weekend as well that are all part of the 2004 Gorge Games.
Saturday's race will take place on Columbia Street in front of the Full Sail Brewery with a throng of spectators, televison cameras rolling and a stiff tail wind. This hill was the scene of the 2002 Haulin' in the Hood - FCR slalom Skateboard Race.
Sunday’s event will take place on the on the Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway east of downtown. Expect this course to be fast and technical. The fastest times of the day will be from those racers who posses a delicate balance of; guts, brute force, endurance and the agility of a ballet dancer. This is a 1,400' long course, on excellent pavement with a decent pitch and two sweeping turns. The veiw from here aint bad either!
Gorge Game Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in all the following categories; Open Men, Open Women, Junior Boys (14 and under), and Junior Girls (14 and under). That'll sure look nice in the ol' trophy case! In addition, points will be awarded towards the American Cup Slalom Series. Who will be the points leader after this event?
Make your Hotel, Motel or campground reservations soon.

Cascade Slalom Association: Hospitality for visiting racers
GORGE GAMES -- Hood River Oregon
Cascade Slalom Association members would like to offer hospitality services to those out-of-town racers who might need extra help or a friendly face during their visit to Hood River for the Gorge Games races.
Members in Portland Oregon are about 1.5hrs from Hood River, and about 40 minutes or so from the Airport (depends on home address).
Cascade members can offer airport pickup, lodging in Portland for pre and post-race nights, phone contact for emergencies, loan of equipment and tools for those that you forgot, etc.
Here's how it works:
Email me and I will provide you with a list of those Cascade Slalom members who are attending the race and are willing to offer some services. You then contact them and make final arrangements.
It's as easy as that. We want to make your racing experience in the Pacific Northwest as enjoyable as possible.

If my therapist says my ankle may be good for a race I may take someone up on their offer.
Good Luck to all!
PS-and the flight stays almost affordable for 2 more days.

Special thanks to the following companies for stepping up and supporting the 2004 Gorge Games Slalom Skateboard Races;
Bahne Skateboards
AsphaltPlayground.com
Sol Sunguard
RoeRacing Slalom Skateboards
Taco del Mar
Also - a special thanks to Pat Chewning and Dan Gesmer for covering the timing duties. Pat’s ChronoCone timing system is now synchronized to export directly to Dan's great race spread sheets. Dan will be in Hood River as the Official Timer!
See you all in Hood River!
PS. COSS will be at Hood River in force! But, where is BLR? Where is LCB? Where is SSS? Last time I checked - there was only one representative from each one of these teams signed up.

The tight slalom course was very difficult. Lots of cones hit. A beautiful setting:

Hood River
Hey Pat, thanks for the picture. Finally I got on the Podium B division at a national level race. Thanks to Daddies Board Shop, Gareth for my Unlimited Foam, Larry Balma for the RT-X, Eric Walgren for the 100mm/8mm alteration of the aforementioned RT-X, Howard Gordon/Mike Dong/Gareth for the TTC and Chaput for the Grippins. Also thanks to Gareth, Steve King, Pat Chewning, Gezmer for making it run smooth, thanks to all the cone heads including Mel and Thor who ditched riding to do this. Later- Paul
I just dig slalom!
