Do you prefer using Macintosh over other operating systems?
By 'Macintosh', I mean any version of the Macintosh OS.

No, Jack. This survey is to find out how many members of this website are Mac users. And while everyone has a preference of one OS over another, there are operating systems out there other than just Mac, Windoze, and MS-DOS, so I didn’t want to start naming them all.Jack Quarantillo wrote:Maybe you should have just said "PC or Mac".

Reason for asking?
Is this in relation to computer-based timing systems?

Adam...your site figures, if you have any, should give WesE the info he wants to see. I would guess that your Mac OS hits on this site are somewhere in the 7% range. The average for high traffic sites on the web is maybe 3-5%, as much as 10-12% for content types that are Mac friendly (web designer/graphic design info sites, etc).
I'm a Mac guy, I'm a graphic designer (par for the course)...but even a 10% Mac user base in the skate community isn't enough to warrent any specific development for anything. For the reaosns I think you are asking about this WesE I think the PalmOS is the best bet and/or some linux clone because they ar elight and fast, free/cheap and don't load you down with alot of useless bells and whistles like windoze and Mac Os (Aqua) do.
Now for running Photoshop....that is a different thing!
For running or developing a timer system/database....PalmOS baby.

Site traffic characteristics are not accurate in showing the percentage of who uses a certain site because:
• People view the site on whatever computer that is available to them. I often use the web from libraries, which are mostly always running Windoze on the web stations, but that doesn't mean I prefer the OS.
• Some people may have a larger number of varied IP addresses than others.
• People can set their browsers to masquerade as whatever they want them to look like. I make one of my browsers look like a Windoze machine in order to get access/top-priority from certain sites.
Other advantages of Palm device for timing system besides inexpensive, small, & lightweight:
• Battery life is substantially longer than anything else.
• Cross-platform.
• Very durable hardware.
• Easy to learn and use.

Been a mac user since I was born, but always had a PC kicking around the house. I consider myself a "Mac User", and was somewhat militant about it earlier on but with time I realized that both systems accomplish tasks well and efficiently. Alot of the time wasted with pc's is involved with the interface, even though it is technically a "faster" architecture. I use a 2.4 ghz G5 at work that is pretty impressive in terms of "dragrace" style test that simply rate raw speed, but it could never compete to a 4ghz intel or amd variant in a game of half life 2 or battlefield 2. Stuff like that is pretty much all a question of the best specialized hardware, ie video cards, memory, etc. Apple being the only company in the computing industry to produce the whole widget (hardware and software) macs are also the only major operating system to only use the risc architecture, so your options for periphery are limited. However, with the disclosure of a variant of OS X that runs on intel's x86 architecture it appears that the mac os is headed for cheap, speedy, customizable macs so I'm pretty psyched about that.
