no shit stirring intended

i understand chris and see what he means
i don't think this was meant as an offense and i see no whining either(chris is not the guy to whine!).
his point is just, given the current situation he is right about a few things(my oppinion, which is probably wrong too, again,as ever, who knows)

me,i think you can charge as much as you guys in grenoble do,but.......... then you have to drastically increase the prize money( i am referring to brixlegg f.e.)

you will see things different, that's ok so.

chris:you should have said that earlier though.

everybody have a supernice day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to quote myself on a reply I made to Gustavs not turning Pro this season. I would really like to see him race pro and compete with/against him.
Ramón Königshausen wrote:
Gustavs Gailitis wrote: Become a PRO during the season means bigger expenses already this year and pay more than 100 euros for just qualification runs and a t-shirt...

Ditto! Most races are too expensive!

Two weeks ago I paid 60 Euros for a freeride in Belgium. That included Camping, 2x meals per day, shuttle all day long, course marshalls, safety measurements such as haybales and showers.

Amateurs pay 50 Euros and they don't get camping, shuttles, haybales etc. which is a lot of work for organizers. It's very easy to set up a slalom race. I don't understand why all the races have such high entry fee. It doesn't really help to encourage newbes to the sport to participate with such high entry fees.

So also for you Gustavs, it's a matter of money and high entry fee. I bet if the Pros entry fee wasn't so expensive more ("sandbagging") amateurs would turn pro. But if you're a student like Gustavs or I was, you are really happy to even be able to go to an event that's far away. Gustavs is travelling all the way from Latvia only to pay €120 if he wants to race pro.

Just to compare, the Tunnel Slalom we put up cost €30 for Am and €35 for Pro. €10 of which we had to pay to the festival but every participant got a free ticket to use public transport on that day. So in fact the entry fee was only €20 for Am and €25 for Pro.

There was also prize money for women because they also deserve to get prize money.

On 10th of June I had already posted a question concerning entry fee. There was no reply until today:

Ramón Königshausen wrote:Just out of curiosity:

Why is it so expensive? (Is there a fee for using the stadium or so?)

And what prizes are there for the women's category?

Why can a norm not be changed in order to make something better? We changed the norm at the Tunnel Race by charging a third (in case of Pro) and offering pretty much all the same things and I think everybody enjoyed the "high profile, high quality event".

Well if we compare ''because of the rain'' indoor disciplines - Grenoble last year was with a lot of media and spectators comparing with Gothenburg World championships AM,junior and women tight but still Gothenburg is the best race in slalom history (my opinion) so we can just say that organizers of Grenoble are in high level !

I agree with Donald that if the entry fees are so high in PRO they MUST get big prize money (at least like in Brixlegg) because they really deserve it,but that really is another topic ;)

Unfortunately I will not be able to be there.

I am sure this will be a great event like the previous ones.

Keep on doing it, you are doing something for slalom skateboarding, good job! And it only adds more to the sport.

I am tight up, I have a lot of things to do (AND PAY FOR!!!!! :-) ) here in Amsterdam if I want to get things going here as well.

I wish I could be there.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU !!!!!

I can't make it, I hope you all DQ.

And if that does not happen I hope that Antonio have the cones on his side (or actually not on his side, but I guess you know what I'm trying to say) and make it all the way to the top. Go team 161!

I'll probably be alone in my double room in Ibis hotel in centre of Grenoble
so if someone interested it's quite cheap (less than 40€ for the double - it's a special price) - contact me (cell: +33 6 60 75 17 32)

Yes we had a great time! It was hot in and off the competition (veeeryy hoottt)!
On top, we put 3 spanish riders at each final + a spanish guy beat Dominik Kowalski & another beat Christopher Baumman at the Nations Cup! The high point of their skating careers! :-) (we finally lost 5-2 :-().

Also & personally, making #4 in straight @ 46 quite a boost to self steem.

Good organization and good fun!

Also waiting anxiously for the photos and classifications!

Such a tiring week-end. So hard when the meteo play with us!

But finally we do it.

Thanks to all the racers who were there, thanks to Philippe and his fantastic crew. Js, Jani and Corky. All the cones marshall under the rain or the sun.
Congrat to Ramon, Mika, Janis the pro winner of the Sweek-end. Sandrine, Gustav and the young spanish guy who win their categories. Level is growing years after years, new nations we have to count in as Spania

Here are the result of the nations cup which conclude this race's week-end. Interesting moment where am can meet pro.

1 Germany
2 France
3 Sweden and Latvia

Quart finale
Sweden vs Italia : Hadestrand family beat Digiorgio family by 5/0
France vs Czech : So close dual but France win 5/0
Spain vs Germany : Christophmake a false start and fell off the ramp. Still Germany won with 5/2
Switzerland vs Latvia : A piece of Swiss team without Manuel Frei (hurt) and Ramon who turn on his German side, couldn't resist against Janis, Gustav and Leinite. Latvia won 5/2

Semi finale
Sweden vs France : It's seems impossible for France but the Duponds and Berruchon has the last word against the Hadestrands. Christopher beat Viktor for 0,01 on the last point!!
5/4

Germany vs latvia : Leinite is one of the fastest women but what can she does against Ramon, Dominik and Christof? Janis take 2 points but Germany win 5/2

Final
Germany vs France : No mercy from Germany who won the nations cup 5/0.

I stop with slalom 3 years ago and was back this week-end and I'm afraid it's like a drug.
Anyway Philippe Galindo can count me to help him again next year.

What a fun weekend!! I was a bit worried when I heard it was on flat, but I have no complaints because there was so much good racing and all around good times! It was such a pleasure to have 5 other women competing and to be able to have an actual womens category. I learned a lot and will never forget the experience.

Thank you to all who organized and volunteered their time!

The highlight for me: watching Christoph, Dominik and Ramón win the nations cup... oh and hearing the announcer say "quelle disastre! quelle tristesse!" after my run (because it meant that I won). :D

Is there any video of the event out there?

Okay I'd like to say some things about the past weekend. Good points first!

+ First of all I really enjoyed the real downhill GS although I heard that the hill/course was a bit too hard for some. Too hard meaning a bit rough, maybe too much wind (well we can only blame the weather gods for that). But it was good after Pierre and Domink changed it and made it a bit shorter.

+ The food was really good. A good meal included in the entry fee is nice to have but maybe make it optional next time for people who want to be low budget.

+ Unfortunately for some pros they weren't able to eat during lunch time because they had to race and when the race was over the lunch was too. However we were still able to get a sandwich and a BEER!

+ The organization was pretty smooth and I think this is also due to the fact that there were more events other than slalom skateboarding involved.

+/- The special was a nice course. The straight...well I was using my GS board...but you all know my opinion here. Plus yeah, it was on flat...

- What was a bummer for the Ladies and Amateurs was that there was only one GS run for them. But this we can also kind of blame on the weather gods because I reckon the road had to be opened to traffic at a certain point.

- Prize money distribution: Should have been announced more clearly, if overall or per discipline.

- Prize money amount: Maybe a statement is necessary here. I personally think the amounts for the top 4 were okay but maybe places down to 8th place could have gotten some too.

so far so good.

Hey Dasha. Even if I'm french I was strike but what says William the speaker when you win! :-) I think at this moment, only his heard speak. A little bit chauvinistic for sure... I've expected nobody hear but you do :-). Yes France against Germany was a disaster for us :-)
but what can we do!! Congrat the too strong German team

Thanks Ramon for your analyse. I'm agree with you on most all the point. Yes difficult to put a giant when it's still raining and when the wind arrive and change everything (I'm sure with a back wind we can add 200 hundreds meters). Thank to Dominik who help me to change some gates (unfortunatly I have no time to test my own slalom before the race!!!).

About price money : There were only 12 pros. Things were different with 20 for sure.
About entryfees : Can propose optional food.

Agree about missing informations. Grenoble is a very special race with a big staff but without a true race head. Philippe is looking after the complete event and meet the politics he is an hollow man during all the week-end. In fact : Jani, JS and me come to help Philippe in the organisation but we are not working on it before the event that can explain, there is no real chief and no precise schedule and approximativ informations. We have to work on this point.
Flat race : Mmmh..as soon as we do it on the stadium, there is no solutions..Let say Grenoble is and will be the only race on flat
About straight : I'm not closed...May be things change in the future...

Hi Jani,
there is a mistake about the woman overall.

Erika did the GS too, so she should have 80 points like the other who made DQ.
She's tide with Dasha at the over all but Dasha made better place at the special so Dasha's 3rd and Erika's 4th.

Thanks to Philippe, all the volunteers and everyone for that wonderful week end.
It's always a pleasure too see everyone and meet new slalom skateboarder like Dasha, Arnaud, Fabian, ....

Hope too see all of you next year in Grenoble.

PS: Jani, have you got some more pictures???

Congratulations to all the medalists!!!

Thanks to all the organizers (Pierre, Philippe, Corky, Jani, Jean-Seb etc.), volunteers, sponsors and participants!

It is nice that amateur division does its function – top4 amateur overall were under 20!!!

I hope that Frei will be soon back on track after his crash (3 weeks with no sport? – he don’t looks like a guy who can stay still for even a second :D)

Great that Canada was also represented ;)

It was worth to come from Riga via Brussels via Lyon and then by bus to Grenoble – I was there for 3rd time in a row and I surely wouldn’t mind to come again next year ;)!

CU all in Policka!

PS – very nice pics! Anyone else ?

We were really happy to see you all again (or for the first time) in Grenoble.
Thanks for those who made it possible!

We finally ran this giant race... it was fun, but next year, i will ask for a second run and back wind

Pro races were really close and interesting. Congrats to all, but especially to the Gothenburg team!

Congrats to my team mates who ruled their own categories ... Gustav in amateur div & Sandrine in women
Christopher and Janis did also great races!

I think Nation cup, with "First to the finishline" format, was also really a great time for audience.

I agree with all Ramon's inputs and i'am really happy to heard so enthousiast feedback about the race.
I hope it will happen again next year with many improvements.

See you soon,

Erika did the GS too, so she should have 80 points like the other who made DQ.
She's tied with Dasha at the over all but Dasha made better place at the special so Dasha's 3rd and Erika's 4th.
The overall results (pdf) have been updated, see link above.

We have also given 16 points (for a DQ) in AM class to Daniel. He was only registered in JUN class at the time of the GS, but we modified that later in the day to allow him full participation in both JUN and AM class, like we had it last year.

Jean-Sebastien has the full set and will do it, but he doesn't have access to internet for a few days more. Vacation!

Good to see that the mistake in the Womens results has been rectified! I was confused about the results of the GS also...

Here's some more pictures, but many of these are poor quality due to the poor light in the evening.

Dasha, there will be more interesting photos in the next round.
