Jay Adams Flyaway revived as FLY-HIGH BY EIGHT
Well,
Sooner or later somebody had to re-issue the Flyaway helmet. Is this a bogus copy, or is it built similar to the originals?

The auction refers to FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) construction, but I'm no expert on plastics; maybe Duane D. could shed some light.

Dangersticks, over at S&B has something in the works. He's working out the details on new and improved Flyaways, completely certified and with larger sizing. Click the link for details.

Legendary! Welcome Marshall! And thank's for a great job done! Here's some pictures of me winning the Eurocana Open 1981 wearing my Flyaway helmet. Note how it shines, even in these older B&W pictures.
The racer with his back turned towards the camera is the other finalist Angelo Zambito, also wearing a Flyaway helmet!

Re: Jay Adams Flyaway revived as FLY-HIGH BY EIGHT
Well, it's been a while since the new Flyaways were re-issued.
Simple question:
Has anyone suffered a really good bash with one of these helmets and how did it perform?
All the good looks and nostalgia in the world don't mean a thing if it doesn't do the deed as advertised. I am in the market for a new helmet and it looks like I'm spending at least $150 no matter which way I go so might as well consider the Flyaway along with the rest on the market.
(Of course, I realize those who may have not had the best possible result may not be able to respond.)

FF to 2:00, Flyaway® does the job!
End result of this slam, no skull fracture, no blood, and no KO, in other words he remained conscious.
(he clearly keeps moving after punishing the pavement with his head!)
He did feel the effects of a mild concussion, and the helmet got a crack in it (toast!) but HE would have been toast without a helmet.
Its my opinion that a styrofoam lid would have left him knocked out....
RacerX feels his Flyaway® saved his life !
Diclaimer:
Anything can happen, in any helmet, (SKate at your OWn risk, not ours !)
I am selling helmets, not life / medical insurance.
If you hurt of kill your self or others while using your Flyaway® helmet, its your problem not ours.
