Wesley,
I edited Brady's post and now I can see that I did make a mistake getting between you and him editing his post. You are perpetuating just as much as Brady is.
Brady,
Feel free to "defend" yourself.
I made a mistake editing your post. You can go back in and put in Wesley's name.
I appologize for editing your post. Yours is only the second that I have edited besides ARAB's.
It was my intention to make a clean site. It simply isn't going to happen.
Feel free to rip each other to shreds.

Scabs what are you smoking? "West coast brown nosed blindness"? Hahahahahaah. That is so my motto for 2003. Scabs I could go on and on about what a FREAK you are but frankly you are not worth the effort. Just sometimes your whining and complaining get FAR to much for me to take!!!!On 2002-12-11 22:13, Brady Mitchell wrote:
Cool,
So now you want to join in Chris? At least get your facts straight as it was Wesley that started this. His posted with inuendos and so did I and he then took one step farther and used my name.
And I never posted here about OLLie and only a couple times at ncdsa. But I can`t blame your west coast brown nosed blindness. Yeah that`s right. You don`t like me because I called you on the truth...a team member shilling thier wares.
But more importantly, since when do you speak for all?
So who`s next?? Like I really care??

Adam,
I respect your admonishment and actaully it makes sense, But consider this, what is the differance of mere words? Which has more bite? Dick or Poser? A slander is a slander. I`ll lay back on the tone but I won`t stop calling it as I see it unless you decide to hinder me from your message board.
Peace out y`all...see ya in `03 (or sooner)

Again Brady reveals his stupidity. The difference in mere "words" is the difference between a racer and a poser. Simple as that. (As a quick point, there is a difference between "stupidity" and "ignorance." "Ignorance" is not knowing, "stupidity" is knowing better. A man of Brady's advanced years should obviously know better, ergo, he's stupid. Logic is a wonderful thing.)
Brady called me a "dick." Well, as disgusting as it appears, it is of course completely absurd. Maybe I conjure up images of a 6'2" penis in Brady's mind's eye, but only he can confess to that sort of preoccupation. As such, calling someone a "dick" is not libelous on its very face. (By the way, Brady, when it's written, it's libelous. It's only slanderous if its spoken word. Like if I see you on the street corner and describe you accurately, that may be cause for slander. Of course, as I prefaced my explanation, it would be accurate, therefore no slander can be inferred.) A more common example is "S.O.B." Sure its' nasty. No one wants to see that in print. But it is patently ridiculous to assume anyone human is canine offspring. Since it is patently absurd, it can't be libelous.
Calling Brady a "Poser" though is completely different. it's not only accurate, but substantiated. The list of witnesses who can testify that Brady spends all his time at skating events standing around posing is, well, as long as the list of people who have seen him appear at a skating event. Calling him a "loser" is equally deliberate and of course "keyboard racer" is a term than I can only offer endless gratitude to my racing colleague, Joe Iacovelli.
So, yes, Brady, there is a tremendous difference in mere words. It's a difference that obviously eludes you, but those of us with a modicum of education and experience understand it clearly.
Maybe you should get out more?
Just not out where I am.

Joe, I intend to race. I intend to race a lot. Just like I did this year.
I have no idea what Brady intends to do. Probably pose and delude himself into believing he's making a valuable contribution.
Sure, if he comes up in the bracket opposite me I'll race him. Well, I'll race the clock. He'll race to the first cone before he realizes he's completely incapable of making a real slalom course. At which point he'll pull up lame, proclaim a cramp or some other female malady and hobble off the course wondering why it always happens to him.
No matter though. Whether we meet in the brackets or not makes no difference. Issues will be settled to my satisfaction.

Certainly is "the dark side of the cone."
Porn Star? Hmmmmm I guess I got that from my unusual fashion sense. Hugh Hefner used to race- twin "courses" at the same time- even he never knew which one would finish first.
As I get more out of shape- I don't worry -I figure if I want you guys to get faster....I have to to get you near the rabbit It's the only way to get you guys ready for racing in Europe and the West Coast. Coaching UR13 and Vlad certainly got a lot of you moving- they're going to get a lot faster. I hear one is running this winter......
As for smack talking. I think everytime some smack is bantered around it must be followed with a "bid".
Let's face it....a bunch of skaters scrounging for gear on EBAY paying ridiculous prices for 25 year old OJ's and hard to find Roller Skate wheels using strange bidding names is what got manufacturing going again. We are all used to bidding- it was and is good for the sport.
So If you post some smack- it must get followed with a "Bid" (can't legally call it betting). So for instance let's say Henry J calls out Matt Wilson. Henry J's post might look like this.
"Matt your "Bass" ain't .......blah blah blah blah....and further more blah blah blah and I'll easily beat you....blah blah blah.
........................................$5"
Henry might counter with "Yeah...well....Blah Blah blah- got some faster prototypes from Rick.....blah blah blah.
.................$10
Matt could say "blah blah......$15
"bid amounts are always at the very end of the post with a dotted line- to pick them out easily.
So when we get a race where we know both Matt and Henry J will show up- they go for the bucks. Highest smack talking bid gets Lane choice.
Once we know you'll be at a race (in a few weeks) that is where the fun starts. Then other people can "Back you to raise the stakes." TK might say.....yeah I've been coaching Matt and I'll back him with $50. PSR might say...well I've been coaching Henry J since he is near me and I'll match that $50. (of course it is really a side bet between TK and PSR but we incorporate it into one bet to see how big the whole deal really is.)
You could see some big bucks going down even between Newbies...even if they don't have any cash themselves. Coaching newbies has rewards and makes it all the more interesting.
But if you don't have the cash to back it up or someone to back you...well you have to behave.
The "accountant" gets 10% off the top for managing the "bids" and is selected by the two racers. All bid increments must get matched....so if you start out with $5......it is $5 increments......until someone ups the ante. So it could go back and forth at $5,$10,$15......and then someone ups the ante to $40 ($25 more) so now the bidding increment is $25....so the next minimum bid would be $65. Once the bidding raises over $20 the two have to declare races that they can attend and agree on one....or the smack is over. If a racer doesn't show up- he forfeits. (With a threaded forum like this it is easy to keep track because you can always "quote the other guy in your posts".
could get funny pretty fast. You can toss in new currently available gear at 50% of retail to cover a bid. No food stamps please. Paypal-what would we do without you.

Sorry I cant take sides because I dont like anybody!
Gilmour What do you mean by the Rabbit comment west coast/europe thing?
As an East Coaster your not tellin the boys on yer side of the Missazeri river that if they want to get up to snuff against the WEST or Europe they have to follow the rabbit(you)
While I'll take that as a compliment!
And I'll second that, follow the Bunny eastside, I learned alot from JG and you can too!

Right on Tucker!! The moment I become anything like a poser, I will allow each slalomer a good swing at my butt with my Comet. On 2002-12-11 15:35, matthew wilson wrote:

John, this is what I said as a joke in a post somneewhere else. However, I think money might be pushing it for a lot of folks. So, I proposed cones! You bet cones. Kind of like chips in poker. You see money goes real fast and for the most of us, our status can not be flaunted by the cash we flash. Rather, he/she who shows up to practices with the most cones is bound to stike fear, inspiration, whatever in everyone else there. We will want to work to WIN some of those cones away from other people. It will be a bit of a status thing and one that I think would work quite well.On 2002-12-12 00:37, John Gilmour wrote:

What got me thinking about this, was our last session in Acton, MA. My cones were accidentally picked up by TK. When I emailed and asked if he had them, he said, "yes," but that I couldn't get them back until I could reach such and such a goal. Now that is inspiration!! Losing money just makes me feel broke and then maybe even scared to race. But to know that I can win cones drives me to want to work harder.
And next, it may create a greater demand for cones, which will not only help companies with selling them, but may also drive the price down a bit for good cones. $2/ cone isn't too bad, but a $1.50/ cone would be better.

Arab Here's the rabbit origin. I prefer to think of it as Hef's logo- I'm wearing the Rabbit on my belt in my photo.Anyway, John Gilmour , All the guys you mentioned Me, Noah, Curt, 13, etc are all gunning for YOU! You are now the prey, the fast little rabbit, and we are the fox pups getting stronger and ready to leave the den. So... Eat lots of ice cream and pancakes, surf the web at least 14 hours a day, be sure to avoide any physical activity outdoors(sex however is encouraged)and stay here in the Northeast. We'll see you in the spring.
Noah raced the World's race as Pro from the East but other than that, I don't think we had anyone else in Pro class to race the West. I'd like to see some more East guys in Pro class next year.
And Matt- just as Chips are the first step to separateing a man from his money in Gambling- so should be cones. Though Money can be substitited for cones if need be.
You could say- "I'll spot you 4 cones." So not only do you have to beat the other guy by 4 cones, but the other guy also has to pay you 4 less cones if he loses.
More cones are good.

John,
For the record, Claude and I also raced pro at the World's. I qualified fast enough in the "C" group to move up to the "B" Group on Friday where I was eliminated by Atilla.
Claude lucked out in that he was 33rd out of 32 qualifiers. When Bad H looked at Main Street Morro Bay and decided he didn't like the run out, Claude moved up as "first alternate." (At least, the run out rumor is what was floating all over the street that morning.) He met Paul Dunn in the first bracket of the Round of 32. (I'm pretty sure it was Paul: Claude was seeded 32 and Paul was 1.)

First I would like to say that you all SUCK!!
I'm a little cranky right now.
I live on this cold, wet, grey, depressing island that is going to be cold, wet, grey and depressing for another 3 months, minimum.
California dreaming.
Actually, only some of you suck.
I'd like to follow that by saying "you know who you are" but the problem is I don't think you do.
Allow me to share a little anecdote.
I made a few embarassing posts on NCDSA a while back. (its funny how 5 or 6 beers and anonymity [except for the work of one super IP slueth] can make one seem very clever and funny.
I very much regretted doing it later but the damage was done.
Since then I have tried to make an effort to display a little more restraint, self control, and maturity.
To remind myself, I pasted a post it note to the top of my monitor that simply says "DONT".
Whenever I feel like being "clever" again, I look up at this note.
It helps.
Brady, Wesley, and maybe even ARAB (although I enjoy reading his posts) should consider this.
This is a great site.
You're f*cking it up.
RESTRAINT, SELF-CONTROL, MATURITY.
Repeat, rinse, repeat.
XOXOXO
Troy
P.S. I miss you Gilmour. Please come back.

Joe, You're right. I am the sexiest slalom rider on the planet. I just looked at that picture of me with the shiny shorts and the lei and I'm falling in love all over again. Hair, teeth, muscles. Mmmmmm. No wonder I didn't notice Christina's breasts at the Chinese food restaurant in Boston and at Red Bull's Urban Waves afterparty in New York. There was a mirror there.
There's still time to share the love this Christmas. Full sized autographed glossies are available to all with a credit card or PayPal account. I think that it's kind of interesting that my two first customers have asked that I sign it to their wives named Wesley and Joe and to include some cologne.
BTW, I think that racing for cones is a great idea. The guy with the biggest stack at the end of the day is the obvious rabbit. The cones never really leave the slalom community and are perhaps donated to those who need them most, namely the sorry ass weak pieces of cow dung who lost them to Gilmour and me in the first place.
Wesley, Don't be so hard on Henry H for wanting to bet money, even if he is a "pathetic posers who owns a few FibreFlexes". He has a cute young daughter and you don't want to burn your bridges.
Wesley, I won't go to Folly if you're not there or if I can't get a cheap flight to Switzerland. They make good watches and so I'm going to assume that you screwed up the timing of the two conflicting events. Please change yours.
Lastly, I know that Dave Gale is not the only one featured in this charming and warm holiday greeting. Please go and see if you can spot yourself. I hope Martin doesn't feel left out again.

HEY BYATCHES
I BET I can beat both Joe "Flailing Death" Iacovelli AND Matt "Vasocrappa" Wilson at the next race we're at together. With my youthful spirit, excess energy and West Coast slalom refinement I'm destined to dominate over these pitiful members of the adult workforce. And I'm only getting stronger and younger fellas...
Tally-Ho!!!

With my youthful spirit, excess energy and West Coast slalom refinement I'm destined to dominate over these pitiful members of the adult workforce. And I'm only getting stronger and younger fellas...
Tally-Ho!!!

That is almost a deal, Mr. J. However, I do not deal in actual money, but cones. So, does 5 Turner cones sound good? If so, then you're on. And though I may lose (the 1st time), I will not go down crying, but with honor, integrity, and the promise to double the bet the next time. But who knows! Maybe I'll win.On 2002-12-12 20:17, Henry Julier wrote:

Joe, if I lose, you must take him. A boy such as this should learn to respect his elders. One thing I have learned in this sport is this: age, as of yet, is of little consequence.
Though, I do have one doubt about you, Joe. Didn't you bag out on the tight slalom at da Farm??
One last thing. The degradation of one's name will not be tolerated!!! "vasocrappa"??? Watch that typing there, Henry! A proper young gentleman such as yourself should not fall prey to such pitiful self-reduction.
Happy skating!

I don't have 5 turner cones.
And I respect you all, and you'll be respecting me more after I kick start into the course faster than you can ride it! That twang in your stomach is the first sign of the sorrow you'll feel as you hand me all 5 of your cones. I'll probably be nice and send them back to you, but only out of pity.
Chaput- you're wrong. I'm actually aiming quite low.

I am all about challenges, but the WWF talk is for fools, so I will not engage. We'll let the racing speak for itself!
Now enough of your yapping!! Get out and practice....I am!!

I have worn a dress before, so I have no fear.On 2002-12-13 16:15, Joe Iacovelli wrote:
Tway - yeah real funny unless you're Joe Iacovelli. Since TK has the bad wrists and Sandy "the human crayon" Kirby has a bun in the oven, I'll step to the left and let Terry get his needlenose polished, his cones stacked, his bearings oiled. I'll wait for the Carl Kincaid / Kim Cespedes grudge match.
Matt - I stepped aside during the tight slalom at Da Farm. I knew from the speed of the hill I couldn't make the course. I thought the run I didn't take was one a more qualified racer could take before it rained. I hope to be a more qualified racer next year.
Back to the smack!
Henry. When the snow melts we'll set a course more suiting or skill levels. Matt, you're welcome too. 5 cones, $10, fine but unimaginative. If I win you wear a dress to the farm.

A little poem, called “On the Other Hand”
(with reference to pgs 2 and 3).
Mirror, mirror on the wall
Who’s the sexiest bitch of all?
Chaput’s well over the hill-
He should stick to downhill!
Give me a break, give it a rest!
You don’t recall Christina’s...beauty?!
Gilmour’s got a sexy car
I’d rather call IT a porn-star.
The Mers’s driver could be thinner
Should people choose him as a winner!
To name THE one? – I will be glad!
My choice, of course, is comrade...Joe Iacovelli!
Happy Holidays!

From the Tight Slalom forum:
“Who ever called it TS besides you, Vlad? I don't care that someone happened to
label a .pdf file Tight Slalom. That's hardly everywhere. You said, "everywhere".
Where else is this the case? The people throwing the event didn't promote it as a TS.
I set the course and was present at the race, and I never heard anyone refer to it as
tight. Where is this predominant opinion that there was supposed to be a TS at
Morro Bay or that the race at Morro Bay was a TS. So far as I've seen, that's all
coming from you. I don't actually remember, but did anyone call it TS on the television
broadcast? How did you become such an authority anyway? Isn't The (1st) Gathering
the first time you ever saw slalom skateboarding?”
Yes, it was at the first Gathering where I saw slalom done. Is it a problem? And I couldn’t skate cones at the first Outlaw Race of 2002 when you invited me. Problem with that?
Since then I had enough time to contact some primary and secondary slalom sources. It’s rather strange, Andy, that at your age you don’t seem to care about the past 15 years of slalom history. You do care much, though, when I label the course you set at Morro Bay “tight slalom”. Did you care about it when you were clicking on the PDF links before today? Or is it ME repeating the links’ name that made you “GOT-IT?” me?
My spelling is a problem? How about my accent?
I have no authority on this board, but I can question and propose anything I want.
Therefore,
authority my A triple S!
Vlad.

Vlad, Vlad, Vlad... In the first place, I'd hope you'd know me well enough that, when being serious, I would never resort to finding fault with something like spelling or an accent. I might've made Russia jokes, all in good fun, that I'd thought were probably most entertaining to you and I specifically. I apologize if they weren't taken as an offense. Such things won't happen again.
Secondly, I don't give a damn what you call the course I set at Morro Bay. That is not now, and never was my issue. My issue is that your original statement made it seem like the race organizers advertised a TS and then failed to deliver, which is absolutely NOT TRUE. Then, you use this un-truth to make a statement that they (the race organizers, in general) are "no help", which is not exactly a favorable or friendly statement, particularly when based on a conveniently re-written history.
What a .pdf gets named, after the fact, doesn't bother me one way or another. Just like I don't care what you call the course, after the fact. However, any statement you make that makes it sound like a TS was advertised and not delivered is clearly wrong and irresponsibly made. I mean, John Gilmour actually stated that he felt "tricked" at Morro Bay this year. Doesn't that imply that someone intentionally misled someone else? What tricked John was John's expectations, but it'd probably be entirely to accountable a statement for John to say, "Wow! I sure had a mistaken impression of what type of course was going to be set at Morro Bay this year. As a result of my mistaken impression, for which I am entirely and singularly responsible, I was very surprised when I saw the course". That way, the statement is not implying the overt or covert intention of someone else to do something to him. I guess certain personalities just need to make other people responsible for the unhappinesses in their lives; they're called VICTIMS.
As for having "authority" (and I'm not making fun of language differences here), I think you've misinterpreted my use of the word. In this case, I am using the word "authority" to mean "definitive expert", not "authority" like a "Officer Troup has the authority to throw us out of the Gaithersburg Park and Race". This is why I question the total length of time that you've been exposed to the sport. I can't imagine how you can possibly consider yourself a person experienced enough to be a definitive historical expert in this sport, no matter how much research you've done. I don't care about your primary and secondary sources, because you are still a tertiary source. I don't care that you've studied slalom history, because I lived it. Did you ever ask me about the past 15 years of slalom? Considering that I was probably one of the more consistently slalom alert people in the world over the past 15 years, it is at least surprising that, somehow, you seem to feel your research is more definitive than my actual, first-hand experience.
Last, I'd like to ask how it is that you feel I am ignoring the past 15 years of slalom history? That's an absurd statement, and what does my age have to do with it? I was a Slalom! reader as far back as '89, I raced professionally in 1990, I worked in the skateboard industry during the later '90s, making slalom contacts and promoting slalom wherever I went, ASR shows, big vert contests and events, and in my own office. I approached Henry Hester, seeking support for slalom in 1988 and as far back as '86. I even had my publication and my continued involvement with skateboarding-in-general threatened by some major skateboarding bigwigs in '88, while promoting an effort at re-developing slalom. I consider TS to be, roughly, between 4' and 5.5', how is that ignoring the past 15 years, and particularly the big Euro years. Frankly, imo, anyone who considers 6' to be TS is ignoring or discounting slalom history. In my opinion, 6' "stingers" (another stupid pigeon-hole) ARE NOT TIGHT SLALOM. So, I am very curious to know on what you are basing this "ignoring the past 15 years of slalom history" statement.

Besides, Vlad, if I were going to make this a statement about your accent, I would've noted the Soviet propensity for re-writing history to suit immediate convenience, and how that crap isn't going to work here in the good ol' US of A. Got it? (By the way, it seems like my use of the phrase 'Got it?' is what has you ticked off, which is hilarious considering that it was entirely intended as humorous "cheekiness" anyway.)

Well I don't consider TS to be 4.0 on center. That is English slalom- named that way because for a long time the rest of Western Europe only thought the English slalomed that way.
Slalom has evolved in many spots as a vaccuum. When for instance has a skateboard been packaged with a rules book, or for that matter a description defining what the game of skateboarding is all about?
Skateboarding isn't a game so much as an activity. But Slalom is more closely structured as a game with defined rules and penalties.
It is likely that through the DC area as you started that scene that many others in DC think of TS as 4.0 centers. So now we ahve to ascribe definitions to our words and arrive at a consensus.
Every time I drop into a new slalom scene I am ready to enter "Bizzaro world" (A superman comic definition).
Like the proverbial Darwin Finch we all took similar gear and made different uses of it.
Andy's Gathering is a way for all the finches to come together show whats out there.
As for Vlad not knowing history. I have spoken to him and he has contacted a bunch of people from different "bizzaro worlds" and I think the opinions he has formed seem to be very accurate even relative to the people that were actually there.
Andy has done a lot for slalom simply by demonstrating what he has done in the DC community alone speaks volumes.
Andy grew his slalom scene like a farmer, carefully protecting the growing seedlings and then strengthening them. It resulted in a lot of good racers and enthusiastic racing in a short periood of time.
I treid that approach without the use of the internet adn found that I grew a scene in NYC but there was not other scene to compete against. I later created another scene in Boston....and then it was possible to have the two scenes comepete against each other.....our own Yankee vs Red Sox rivalry that we could actually compete in ourselves!
But since then I have tried a new approach. A slalom Evangelist if you will....wandering from scene to scene- dropping into the different "bizzarro worlds". Trying to encourage each scene. in order to motivate the home team...... the Home team must lose.
So since this is a smack down forum.
I will be the first to challenge offer that we have a regional based race standings within our series of races.
New England vs Mid Atlantic Vs South.
The Midwest could have their own thing. Colorado vs missisippi vs etc....
California already has SSS vs Norcal
