yep. If you are at the central station, just get a tramp to liineplasten whatever....it's across the street a bit to the left and take the 1, 7, or 11. (if you look from the central station towards the tramp, the tramp should go to the right;)

see ya!

If the tramp is old and ugly....skip that one and go for someone younger.......Oh...maybe this is about to get a tram....sorry.

Last time I visited Gothenburg, I found many tramps in the area around Feskekörka. Both old and not so old.

Worlds 2008 - Friday Results

Post by Jani Soderhall » Sat Aug 02, 2008 10:15 am

==================
FRIDAY
==================

The results of the first day of racing is up on www.slalomskater.com. Top 8 are below.

We had some really good exciting racing yesterday, Henrik Wadsten dominated the GS all the way, until there was only one rider left: Dominik Kowalski, taking top honors improving his own (2nd best time so far) with 0.4 secs giving him the 2008 Gold Medal in Giant Slalom.
Lynn Kramer took top honors kind of easily in this discipline. And check out the Hadestrand brothers: Viktor winning the Juniors and Viking winning the Amateurs! These guys are fast!

US medalhope George Pappas is on the podium already in the first discipline! He's worth every dollar we invested in him!

Giant slalom Pro Top 8
1. KOWALSKI, Dominik (GER) 25,082 2008 WORLD CHAMPION
2. WADSTEN, Henrik (SWE) 25,274
3. PAPPAS, George (USA) 25,574
4. SEYFFARTH, Marcus (SWE) 25,679
5. HADESTRAND, Mikael (SWE) 25,768
6. GOTHBERG, Hans (SWE) 25,935

2. SALUENA, Antonio (SWE) 26,850
3. HADESTRAND, Viktor (SWE) 27,003
4. THIELE, Robert (GER) 27,011
5. SHAPIERA, Jackson (AUS) 27,147
6. THIEL, Johan (SWE) 27,274
7. BESTE, Frank (GER) 27,288
8. LARSSON, Emrik (SWE) 27,602

Giant slalom Women, Top 8

6. YOUNG, Cat (USA) 29,504
7. SPEARING, Joy (SUI) 30,096
8. WOLFENSBERGER, Nastasja (SUI) 30,416

Giant slalom Juniors, Top 8
1. HADESTRAND, Viktor (SWE) 27,238 2008 WORLD CHAMPION
2. BAUER, Olle (SWE) 27,861
3. FORSMAN, Sebastian (SWE) 28,162
4. FALK, Simon (SWE) 28,566
5. ALTWEGG, Nico (SUI) 29,436
6. DUPONT, Christopher (FRA) 31,021
7. BULLING, Petter (SWE) 31,941
8. GRUNDULIS, Juris (LAT) 32,180

After the GS we did Pro, Jun, Wom (all except AM) qualifying for the Hybrid as we had such beautiful weather and we were way ahead of schedule. So we've got the top 8 women, top 8 juniors and the top 16 Pros qualified!

It's now Saturday morning and it's been raining in the night, and we're waiting for it to dry. We've called up the racers for 12.00 so they're not yet here at the race area, they've got two more hours to relax. The Pro skaters only need to get here by 15.00.

(Todays schedule is something like this: 12.00 racers meeting followed by Am practice, Am qualification, Jun final, Wom final, and then AM/Pro final). The Pro final should be held around 15.00 / 16.00 (CET time) in order to stick to the previously announced schedule, for the local media. So possibly the Am final will be after the Pro final, just to keep the best slot for the Pros.

NEWS FOR SUNDAY AUGUST 3

Post by Emrik Larsson » Sun Aug 03, 2008 12:33 am

Hi! We’ve had some fantastic racing so far, and the pro finals were just magic this afternoon with thousands of people watching..

hYBRID PRO STANDING TOP THREE

1 KOWALSKI, Dominik (GER)
2. KÖNIGSHAUSEN, Ramón (SUI)

Too bad about the rain during the AM qualification, but hopefully we’ll have time to at least do the 2nd run, sometime tomorrow.

Otherwise the schedule for tomorrow is following the original schedule with tight qualifications and finals as stated. Riders meeting for Jun, women, and amateurs at 7 AM.

If the courses are dry we will race at Slottsskogen. If it’s wet, we’ve secured indoor racing, tight course 34 cones. In case of rain a bus will take everyone from Slottsskogen to the indoor arena, were we immediately will start qualification for Jun, Wom, and AM.

We will then check the weather, and if possible do the finals outdoors. Both pro and all other categories: If not possible , we will continue racing indoors. Whatever the outcome, it will be a fun day for sure. And don’t forget about the after party tomorrow night at Trädgårn, starting at 10 PM.

Well, for those of you who have time to read, spread the word!

By now I think you must have already realized that I could not travel to Sweden. The reason is that I had a lot of work to do last week concerning the Euros. It was like either going to Sweden or missing two very important appointments with people that are very difficult to reach, so I had to fit my schedule to theirs.
I missed my flight and I will still have to pay for it, but it is better to do things this way then to risk falling with the Euros. I have to have all risks covered.

I do apologize to the Swedish crew for not being there!!!

I tried to post something on Friday but for some reason the site was down.

I am glad to read that things are going fine. Congratulation to the winners so far.

The Gothenburg Crew is to be congratulated, it was a brilliant weekend! You guys successfully covered EVERYTHING except the one thing beyond your control, the weather. Even then you had a Plan 'B' which meant all events were run - WELL DONE!

Personally, it was cool to see so many old and dear friends and to put faces to names of people I only knew from the Internet, I'm super glad I went, just a shame I had to leave before the Final of the Tight and the party to get my plane. So sorry those I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to...

Finally congrats to Superman Kowalski and the 'almost' unbeatable Lynn Kramer, you guys are supremely talented. The other winners and those who podiumed all deserve huge props for a job well done (esp. Ella- she has 'nads like coconuts!), the competition in ALL groups was intense...there were no easy races. Cool to see Kenny again and the lovely Robin, great to meet George Pappas (I remember his signature model snowboard on Mistral-Hope to see a Sig model skate deck too one day!).
Catching up with Team Axe (LOVE you guys), the Swiss crew, the French, the Germans and hanging out with Paul (best travel buddy ever), Sam, Louis,Rich, Mick & Ella, it was a giggle a minute!
Thanks to Claude for the coaching tip that allowed me to nudge him out of the top 16 in Tight, THAT is a true friend! Thank you Jeff Sacree for talking me out of buying one custom deck from you and re-launching your brand instead, the future looks bright!

That was probably my last comp in Europe before emigrating to the US, it was the perfect one to finish on...Thanks for everyone who made it special.

Martin.

Thanks everybody for a great weekend in Gothenburg.
Congrats to Dominik, Viking, Viktor, Lynn and all the others who did great.
Sitting in a Danish Mc Donalds on our way to Policka. See you all there next weekend.
Mikka, seems like Christopher was third overall junior and not Sebastian who was on the podium, could you sort this out and get the cup for Christopher.

See you in Policka,

I´d like to thank the whole Gothenburg crew for putting up one of the most amazing competions I´ve entered so far!

Right at the moment I´m hanging out at Peter Klang´s house (Thanks for having me mate!) and we´re about to have a slalom session with this year´s amazing world champion in tight slalom, Marcus Seyffarh ("Say Fart" haha), I´m really anxious about that! ;-) No, seriously, I was having such a great time down there in GBG I can only hope this is gonna be continuouing in Policka and Amsterdam and where else I´ll stop by.

BTW. Did you take all three results to calculate the overall ranking?

I said it before and I'll say it again - super event!

However, waiting for the full results is like waiting for precision trucks (any make) always a new due date... Today its friday the week after the race and most riders have already left home for the next race, where are the results?

Thank you for calling it a mustache, most people just thought I forgot to wash my face ;)

And yes, its my middle name mark-ass impatient say-fart. Remember that some of us racing in the pro category are so old that after a week we have already forgotten that we attended the race. Not to mention those who might not make it another week to see the results...

Was that a fast reply? What time did I get?

Dammit Chris...you made me look! Actually many thought that the coneheads' Mothers were definately what the Americans like to call MILFs...
Me, I never notice these things, too busy racing!

Does anyone know if the PDF's are available yet? I'm a bit of a nerd and I like to see how many cones I hit etc., blah, blah, blah...

Thanks,

finally Corky sorted out all the results, and can now be downloaded from www.slalomskaters.com as a zip-file. Just click on the target, and save, or open.

I will, when more free time comes AROUND, try to put everything on the site as well, + more photos..

There is a mistake in the Pro Special Slalom Elimination:

It's not George Pappas but Fabian Björnstjerna who advanced.

hmm it seems like Wadsten and Björnstjerna swithced places. Henrik raced Luca in round of 16, and Fabian raced Mikael if I remember correct. Perhaps I'm wrong.

Well, the top 4 in the Hybrid were:

1 Dominik
2 Ramón
3 Maurus
4 Fabian

Maybe this helps to reconstruct.

Seems like the hybrid/special finals are ok (from what I remember) but the qualifications are not rigth. I raced alone and not with Janis, and I think Fabian raced against Maurus not Vincent.

I'm sorry that I have to ask this, but how is it possible that there are 2 different versions?

Sandrine and I would like to thank you all for making possible this 3 weeks of slalom racing across Europe.

It was nice to see all of you again, and it was a real pleasure to meet George, Cat, Skip and all racers we did not see before in Europe.
We are already planning our US trip for next year :D

Thank you Flavio, Dutch & GOG crew for Amsterdam Euros!
Maybe everything was not what we can expect for a main slalom event, but races were fair and competitive (even with timing system issues) and we had fun. We hope to come again next year.

Thank all the Czech guys too. Policka is also a place we want to come back in 2009.
You guys were really friendly and organisation was perfect.
Maybe you just need another race place for the special slalom (eg giant place, with parallel races)

And last but not least thanks to the Gothenburg crew for holding the Worlds : for sure one of the biggest competiton ever. You deal with rain issues and make everything happen.
Just a thought : 80 euros is pretty expensive for racers when there is no meal in the package.

Another general thought : women category should always be consider as PRO. We can't ask for more ladys to come racing, when this is often this category which suffer from schedule & timing issues. It must always be Women finals, even for 2 or 4 racers ! it take only few minutes.

Hope to see most of you in Grenoble

Guillaume & Sandrine

thanx to you too

Post by Emrik Larsson » Wed Aug 27, 2008 11:04 pm

yeah it was nice meeting you too, and fun racing.

Concerning the meal package, I fully agree, there should have been food included. that was our aim from day one, but somehow a few details got lost in the making, but for future competitions in GBG, food will no doubt be incuded..
I also think juniors should ride for free at all compettions, at least until the sport explodes ( which I hope!). And concerning women, well, we had to make a choice between getting results in all categories, and to showcase the pro riders, and let them do their final runs when the crowd was there (and what a crowd huh!!!).

What we all need in slalom-skating is more people involved, more officials and more money, bigger sponsors, to get the kind of contests we all want..

peace EMRIK
