I don’t have usage of a vehicle tomorrow, but Jonny-D is going to pick me up near Catonsville MD tomorrow morning at around 8am. From there, we’ll check out the status of Lansdowne and then it’s South to Charles County Skatepark.
I’d like to join the Germantown ditch session but don’t know if it will fit John’s/my itinerary or be geographically practical. What time is your session, Jack?
Ohm, is your spot lit? John and I might be able to join your session around 3 or 4pm if it is. Personally, I’d rather ride slalom than vert (because all I have are slalom pads right now), but it depends on how long John wants to ride the CC Skatepark.

Sat Session
Meet me at the Starbucks in Tysons on Springhill Rd. 12 noon sharp! I will take those who show to the spot. Remember this is totally outlaw. No guarantees to set a course but if we can it will be sweet. Bring cones if you got em.

I'll try to be there at noon. I think I've ridden the spot if it's in the general direction behind the Starbucks.
WesE what's the difference between yer slalom pads and vert pads? Try Tampax for those heavy flow days.
Ronald McDonald, I would like a Big Mac, fries, and a shake tomorrow so have them ready.
Dan Rather, the newscast was killer tonight.

WesE (and anyone else)
G-town ditch:
Kyle sez Bozis will show ~2ish.
Brother of Q is looking like 3ish.
I should show up between lunchtime and 2 with the twins, and stay untill they lose interest.
We will definitely be setting up some cones.
Lansdowne report (as of yesterday):
If you go to Lansdowne, use soft wheels and be prepared for dust/dirt. The bowl still has 1-2 ft of water in it, and the double bump snake that connects the upper bank to the wide "freestyle" bowl with humps is totally screwed. Karl and I swept out the upper snake. I shoveled out someones's swept piles in the lower snake last week. The new concrete that replaced the asphalt areas opens up some nice lines. They also put some little ledges in a few spots for those inclined to grind. You can make a run around the rim of the deep bowl if you've got enough speed and confidence.
Tomorrow would be fun, there's a crew of oldschoolers showing at 10 am. I won't be making the downer as I was there yesterday, and my daughter doesn't have much interest in going there.
Hope to see you at the ditch. PM or email if you need directions.

TK,
There's a lot of "chatter" on this thread, and stuff gets missed.
Plus, both of your questions could only be answered by limited persons, specifically Heather and Polanka, and BP (and maybe a few people who know BP better than I do.)
I'm sure we'll hear from BP when things happen.
I'm sending this to you in a PM in case you are true to you word about not coming back, but you should reconsider.

Sat Session
I feel ya TK. Howz the surf? I think Aspen is off. Kenny traded us in on a new set of friends.
WesE, not sure if the spot is lit but Vlad probably is. Jeff too.
Bozi, you must be thinking of the G-spot. Hey, I need some bolts and risers.
Jeff, last time I checked, Tysons II wasn't on Springhill Rd.

New Spot
Spot On I think they say in England.
The Spot is Faaassstttt! Smoooooooth! Seemingly no bust factor.
Foot dragging is required. 20mph + !!
PM session is also possible. There are lights but we left before dark.
I didn't set the whole hill so I am not sure of it's full potential.

WOW!
The G-Ditch session was phenomenal.
Seth showed up first and swept out the water (thanks, btw)
Me and the kids showed up ~12:45.
WesE and John Dillon called ~1:00 from Lansdowne, and headed our way.
Bozi and son arrived a bit later.
Somewhere along the way OldSchoolAndrew and daughter arrived.
Jeff set up a nice run, and a little straight TS course.
John and Wes dropped in ~2.
My brother and his son chimed in around 3.
Some of us were there to watch the sunset!!!! What a great day, and a great time.
Everybody skated everything....
Da Ditch was rocking, and da lot was rolling.
John D. has some good stuffs in his vidcam.
Jeff, John, and WesE thanks so much for the help with slalom tips, especially coaching/encouraging Michael.

Skatin'
Had a fast blast today at Ohm's secret spot. Didn't quite conquer the beast but I got some good shots of the other slayers.
Doug Dupin and myself are hitting Fountainhead in the morning around 9:30-10:00. After that, we're hitting VanDorn (Oakwood) around 11:30-12:00 for an hour or so. All are invited to participate.
If anyone need's to call us:
Myself 202-607-1495
Doug 202-262-2360

Sorry for just replying Terence!Terence Kirby wrote:First off ,lay off Wes.
Secondly, I posted a question way back about Brian Parsons and also Polanca and Heather.
No one replied.
I guess you have to be a part of the "DC CREW" to get a reply around here.
I won't be coming back. TK
No, Polanka just arrived in the States last year. I was working for a model agency in South Beach two years ago.
We skated today at our favorite spot near Front Royal today! It was so warm we wore our shorts.
I think we need help with our technique. Maybe we could meet some people to skate with sometime?
Wes, Duty calls.........
On another non metal image topic....
It was cool to see John D. , Wes , Seth, , Andrew, & the kids all having differnt forms of fun today in G- town. Neat lil spot for my sons to ride the ditch & me having an op to practice cones a bit, something foreign to me the past year.
Look forward to seeing a strong showing the 17th at Park & Ride, god I hope this wacky weather holds out & the curse is gone this winter for the race dates.
see yall, Jeff

I know this isnt exactly DC session related. But I just wanted to give my Local friends a peak at whats coming out shortly, with out putting in a more public forum, entertian me.
These Bad Boyz Inc/Bozi decks have been almost a year in the doings.
The artworks is by Bad Boyz Inc. of Rotterdam, a 20 year old Grafitti crew that has in more recent years done art & Grafitti works that are followed by many in the Neatherlands & their work is highly regarded.
I will release a limited number of these decks, the first run features artwork by Jean of Bad Boyz. There will be 3 other runs to follow with art by the other members of their group.
They will be in Mad Bomber II form only & will appear in a couple art circuits in Neatherlands, & so far one here in US in shows on the wall, neat stuff.
What do you guys think? This is the almost finished graphic before the Bozi Logo was added.
Thanks, Jeff

Man oh man, Doug and I hit DC downhill Shangri-La yesterday. We met at 8:00am for dawn patrol, and I was armed with speedboard, leathers, helmet and a knotted gut, due to the realization that the road was soaked and Doug and I would probably charge anyway. We seem to push each other in stupid situations, but 40mph in the rain didn't seem like a good way to start the day.
We arrived at Fountainhead around 9:00am and decided to stroll down for a look and leave the gear behind. When we reached the bottom Doug blurted out, "It's just not possible, even if it's dry" allowing me to breath a sigh of relief. Won't be going over the side of the bridge today! I'm convinced that, when dry, it's possible to hit at speed but you have to find and stay on the correct line.
We pulled out and headed for a county park that's across the bridge past Occoquan. It too is closed for the winter. It's about 7/10's a mile long and straight as a cane. The road was soaked but we charged anyway and preceeded to throw rooster tails at 30mph. Damn good fun. When dry, the hill is perfect for safe drafting and is smooth so slalom could be fun also.
It was too hot to keep walking up the hill in wet leathers, so we packed up and crossed 95 and hit the hill running down to the park & ride. That run is short but sweet.
We then hit Van Dorn for a few runs and that was that.
Four runs, all a few miles apart and all completely empty until mid-March.
It's obscene and it's on! All speed merchants are invited to accompany us on our weekend tours. Rains a pain, but any dry weekends, we're on it.
Oh, and to keep this slalom related, I had to swerve to avoid a dead bird.

Fountainhead is a nice spot, but it's a helluva lot easier for us who come from the north to get to the Park-N-Race.
The wind does suck sometimes, though

The only thing that can be done when the wind gets near 20 mph is to get out of it, otherwise even cones that are doubled up start to blow away. Even at 15 mph wind speed, it can slow your run down to a crawl if it’s blowing in any direction other than downhill. Fountainhead is in the middle of some woods, so the wind gets blocked by the surrounding trees.
There are ways to Fountainhead that avoid the Springfield interchange (I-95/495) mess. From the beltway, take I-66 West, exit onto 123 South, take a right onto Henderson, take a left onto Hampton, and then look on your right for the park entrence. From Manassas and other points West, the best way is down Prince William Parkway, then a left onto Yates Ford Road, then a right onto Henderson, then a right onto Hampton, then the entrance is on the right. There are probably other ways that avoid the Springfield Interchange as well. Fountainhead map/directions
Fountainhead is the best place we currently know about for slalom when the wind speed is high. Other places that have the same advantage are welcome. Let’s hear about them now if anyone knows of any.
All that said, the G-burg Park & Race is the place to be, no doubt about it.
