St. Patricks Day Outlaw Massacre

Post by Mike Ohm » Mon Mar 05, 2007 9:20 pm

BP and I are thinking of throwing a St. Patricks Outlaw Race at Fountainhead. It will be on Saturday March 17th.

Can I see a show of hands from the people who would come.

It will be a single lane superfast big hybrid style course.

Guinness after the race!

Mike,

With everything else for me this winter, I'd have to say I'll let you know on the 15th. Things are just really squirrely right now with work.

Mike,

Evan and the DHB's are hosting a weekend in Statesville that weekend, it's on NCDSA. Any chance you guys could postpone and attend Statesville?

Damn Ron, I didn't see that. The problem we have is that the hill is in a County park and the 17th is the last weekend it is closed. That is why we run outlaws there. Maybe I will attempt to get it legit and hold the race in April or May. This hill is sweet.

Keep us posted. I'll not be able to hit either race on the 17th, but most weekends in April or May (except the last weekend in May or the Easter weekend) would be great!

I will not be able to make it down to NC so I will still be planning to set some cones on the backside of Fountainhead. Parsons will be bringing his timer. Let's race!

Racing starts around Noon. I will be there around 10am to start cleaning debris and setting the course. PADan is bringing a blower and I am sure he will be there early.

Remember this is an Outlaw event. Bust factor is low. Please bring a trash bag to clean your garbage. I am going to attempt to hold a permitted race in the future so we need to clean up and be cool.

Pray for good weather. The only way the race will be cancelled is if it rains or snows.

Weather?

Post by Dan Mitchell » Thu Mar 15, 2007 8:33 pm

According to weather.com, it'll still be snowing 'til around 2 am, and the temp at noon will only be 39*

Will the road dry?
Do I want to spend 6 hours on the road to get last place in near freezing temps?
Where's Slappy?

PADan, what else would you be doing?

You are correct about the weather. Looks dicey. I will post late Friday night as well as early Saturday morning. Maybe we will get a pass this year. Last year it snowed about 6 inches Thursday before the race.

Mike, good call. The roads are dry but the north westerly winds are blowing cold like a MoFo.

PA Dan got almost a foot of snow, have fun shoveling, I feel for bud.

If you are ever in Old Town Alexandria you gotta go to Eamon's Dublin Chipper. We just had the best Fish and Chips and of course a couple pints of Guinness. Great to be Irish for a day.
