[2010] Two Days of Turri at Toyland - April 10-11

Post by Richy Carrasco » Sun Feb 07, 2010 4:03 am

Two days of Super GS at Turri Road Central Coast!
April 10-11 2010
San Luis Obispo, California

The Turri Road venue has a crest that allows racing events to take place in both directions simultaneously. The two day event will feature both giant slalom and downhill racing. Two days of fast racing on challenging courses. Racers can expect courses/runs to be approx. one minute in length – some of the longest, fastest GS racing ever.

Saturday -- Single lane GS (site of the Worlds 2004 & Nationals 2008 – speeds of 45mph were clocked). Thunderdome ramp start, 3-4 timed runs for each racer. Downhill event will be run on the opposite end of the road.

Sunday – Single lane GS using the opposite side of the road from day one – featuring a 30mph hairpin turn with a few more gates after that! Thunderdome ramp start, 3-4 timed runs for each racer. Downhill event will be run on the opposite end of the road.

Entry fee -- $100 covers entry to all events (downhill and slalom). Advance registration is required and fee will increase after April 1. Racer signup will be online at ncdsa.com contest calendar with paypal link for fee payment. This event is fully permitted and insured. Ranking with ISSA sanctioning application in process.

All paid racers are invited to camp at Toyland free of charge -- BYO food, drinks and supplies as needed. Helmets required for all and slider gloves also for downhill events. Check in at Toyland begins on Friday evening.

Initial sponsors include - Toyland Ranch, Sk8Kings, Abec-11, Gravity, Tactis and more to be announced as confirmed.

The legendary Toyland Ranch and skatepark will be the racer HQ and party location with live bands, bbq and more after racing events.

Downhill racers (and those wishing to camp) should contact Jonny Miller prior to registering for details - email: centralcoastsk8school@yahoo.com

Updates

Post by Maria Carrasco » Sun Feb 14, 2010 5:44 pm

Turri Road has been used for some classic events over the last few years in racing. Went back through the archives to pull out a few pics from 2008 which show both sides of the venue we will be running on for the Two Days of Turrri event. The countryside will still be green and awesome looking when we are there in April!

Toyland Rocks!

Post by Maria Carrasco » Sun Mar 14, 2010 10:10 pm

For those of you who haven't yet had the unique opportunity to hang at Jonny Miller's Toyland Ranch and Skatepark -- the Two Days of Turri event will be your chance. Toyland will be the event headquarters, party location and racer campground for the weekend -- and is sure to offer all the fun you can handle.

In fact, Toyland was recently featured on MTV's "The Buried Life" as the venue for the "most badass party" . . . see for yourself:

Sponsor Update for Two Days of Turri

Post by Maria Carrasco » Wed Mar 17, 2010 2:13 am

Big shout out to Oust, Inc. for stepping up as the Main Sponsor for the Two Days of Turri event.

Not only is Oust supporting the event in a major way but Carl at Oust has also issued a pledge to pay a special bonus cash prize to any racer who wins one of the main racing events -- provided that racer is riding both Oust Bearings and Oust Mood Wheels on the victory board. That's some incentive to get your race board dialed with Oust!

Major Sponsors for the event so far are:
Toyland/Outlaw Ranch Productions
Sk8Kings
Tactis
Gravity
Madrid

Official Sponsors so far are:
Abec-11/Retro/Pink
Powell Peralta
Sporting Sails

ISSA

Huge Thanks to all the sponsors and skaters who will be helping to put this event on.

If any other companies would like to get on board to support -- please contact us as soon as possible through links at the Event web site: http://sk8kings.com/new/TwoDaysTurri.html

More updates to come -- and maybe some surprises too!

Final update!

Post by Maria Carrasco » Thu Apr 08, 2010 12:41 am

Just some final announcements as we count down to race day!

Entry Fee -- Most registered racers have already paid your entry fee but for anyone who is still lagging or planning to come without advance registration -- paypal payment of $125 can be made only through tomorrow - Thursday April 8. Cash payment only can be arranged to be made to Jonny Miller at Toyland Ranch as late as Friday, April 9. Paying your entry fee on Saturday race day is $150 and must be in cash. We have to be able to do the accounting and figure out prize purse before race day so late payments just make it harder for us to be organized -- Thanks for helping us be on top of things.

Safety Gear - Just a reminder helmets are mandatory and full pads - knee, elbow, etc. are recommended. To participate in the downhill and bob sled events -- you will also need to have a full-face helmet, slider gloves and a leather jacket. Please bring your own gear if you have it. We will have some loaner safety gear available but it will be shared with other racers. If you have full leathers -- all the better but not required.

Race Day - Sign-in between 8:00 - 8:30 a.m at the race venue and warm ups will begin after signup. Please be on time since we'll be moving through the events with the goal to finish by mid-afternoon both days.

Camping - Anyone who is camping at Toyland -- please be sure to make arrangements with Jonny Miller in advance. It's BYO camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, toilet paper!), food and drink. It's rustic but there is a toilet and outdoor shower on site. Remember No Dogs Allowed.

Maps for Toyland and Turri Road are on line at the website page here:
Two Days of Turri - Slalom & Downhill Racing - April 10-11, 2010

Contact Jonny Miller via email: outlawranchproductions@yahoo.com

Paypal id is: ccmfjay@yahoo.com

PS -- I will have Oust bearings and wheels available on site for purchase if anyone needs. Oust has pledged a bonus prize payout of $250 for any racer who wins one of the main events -- as long as that racer is riding both Oust bearings and wheels for the victory run.

Cheers and see you at Turri!
