Hi,
I´m Thinking about to go to race in Paris on 18.October 2009.
What about in case of rain? Is there any possibility to
make the session indoor (Under some Bridge or Tunnel )?
Please let me know. I would really like to come to skate and
to have fun. Who is the contact Person ?

Best regards

Hi Robert,

I don't know anything about the race, but I intend to go there. I wanted the kids to be participate, and maybe I will get on a board too, we'll see. Haven't stood on a board for a few years now.

Not so far from the race place there is a place where you can skate under the metro. That's probably what we'll do if it's raining.

If you haven't sorted out a place to stay, come stay with me!

Let see if someone comes with more info.

See riderz.net for all Pirate slaloms 2009/2010.

Location: "Esplanade Italie 2", avenue d'Italie, Paris.
Location - It's the spot to the right of the avenue, "B".
Time: about 10 - 18
When it rains, the race will take place one week later...
Organizer: mail him via http://riderz.net/forum/profile.php?mod ... file&u=544

Sign up: http://pirateslalom.online.fr/v3/

Please note:
1) "Italie" is partly sheltered. There is no real alternative according to the topic on Riderz.net.
2) There are many organizers in France, but you could try Vincent or Jani (PM me with your e-mail address and I'll ask them to contact you)
3) Trocadéro dries very fast when it has rained. It contains various tight, special and giant tracks, so bring your cones.

There is an place to skate under the metro (like I said) and I've seen a Pirate race happen there before, but there is not enough room for parallel and it's probably not so long.

Trocadero dries quickly, but this is not on Trocadero. Also, you don't need to bring cones. There is plenty of it. (Hans Lucas made a copy and paste from somewhere else...)
Italie 2 is not partly sheltered. At least not enough to stop the rain as far as I recall.

Other usesulf info include: It is almost flat, but the surface is excellent. Kind of short also. Limited push start will be used.

I would also rely Riderz.net for accurate info. But I haven't been there for a while.

Bear in mind that the Pirate races are not too serious. They're almost like regular sessions, but with a timer and an awards ceremony. Ideal for skaters who begin and want to enter their first race.

Had a great time today. About 30 skaters joined for this years first Pirates race. The cool thing about this event series is that it's a really good starter event for anyone who's interested in trying out slalom. There were a whole lot of newbies, but also a few of the fastest French guys around. Looking at the number of guys that showed up and the motivation, the sport is doing just fine on the local scene here!

There were three Soderhalls in the event, and as far as race photography this time around, it's mostly centered on my own kids!

Jean-Sebastien annouces the results of the first event (23 participants). 1st place: Michel Dupont!

Pierre Hazera and Marc Camelan

Image
Guillaume, a friend of my kids - first time on a slalom deck. A bit more practise and he'll be doing fine too!

Image
Alexei and Dimitri Soderhall (and to the right their friend Octavia, here on a scooter, but she's been practising some slalom, so maybe she'll enter a later Pirate Race in Paris).

...and these two guys are just too fast, so it was difficult to get a got shot of them:
Christopher and Michel Dupont

The next race is Nov 15.

Nice to see Estonian board for Alexei ;)

Who won - Duponts, right?

Next race is Sunday Nov 15 - this Sunday!

Place: Cours de Vincennes (close to Place de la Nation).

Time: 10-17h.

Spot: Flat and good surface.

The rest of the Pirates will be on non-flat locations. The idea was to get the new riders up to speed with easy locations.

Yes, Michel Dupont won... But Vinzzz was not here, and anyway it was tight against his son Chritopher and Marco !

We are expecting maybe as much people next time coming from Paris, Bordeaux, and Grenoble...
The race will consist on a cyber slalom Riderz and a dual special race.
As said Jani, the spot is flat (i know... it's the only flat race of the season)

Considering the weather forecast, i will announce on friday if the race will stand or not (and moved to the next sunday on 22)

The two fastest of todays race - Pirate II:

Marc Camelan

Image
Pierre Hazera

These two guys dominated both the straight, cyberstyle slalom held in a tunnel due the humidity and the special slalom held at the Daumesnil Avenue sidewalk. Not as many participants as last time, but with rain in the morning people were obviously less motivated!

The next race is at the Trocadero, December 13.

When the first skaters arrived at Trocadero this morning they discovered a fence around the whole area following an event yesterday, so no skating possible.

After a few attempts to skate in the park nextdoors, and being thrown out, the event was postponed until next weekend: Oct 3.

Let's hope for good weather and good attendance. I'll be bringing three-four kids.

Thanks Stas!

Good to see you are on the forum. I hope all is well. Hope we meet next year at a race, then you can see the kids skate. With a few Pirate races in the winter I hope they get a little bit more practice. I was too lazy to really take them skating more than just a few times this summer!

Thank You Jani, I'm fine.

My daughter has began with skateboarding too. I hope, in two years we can make a competition between our families.

I want next year to take part in 2-3 contests.
