1/4" AXLES

I have just received a new shipment of Rads and they are all now supplied with the 1/4" axles. Maybe it's just me, but I can't find a serious slalom wheel that doesn't foul on the rear hanger with this short axle.

What is everyone running on 1/4" axles? Is anyone running the quarters? Really need to fix this as I have 6 sets of trucks that are pretty well unuseable and it is so frustrating as I had been waiting since March for this order.

Cheers

Adrian

BTW 66mm Zig Zags will foul on the mounting nuts on the front truck on 1/4" axles as well!!!!

hi,i run 3dm,so i dont really run into that problem.but,i would offer one of our mods, but you're down under.so i suggest doing a modification to the base plate by milling down the ears and using low-profile aircraft grade nuts.sounds more complicated than it is.also, extra axles a good-lowcost investment.cf

this is the single biggest problem with Radikal. In fact I think its a down right rip off. The trucks only come with 1/4" axels, as decreed by Mcree. This way, you have NO choice but to buy new axels. Why do they make so many 1/4" axels? Good freaking question. Its too bad Keith doesnt run the whole show. Sparky and Mcree can put those 1/4" axels where the sun dont shine, and start selling the trucks with 1/2" front axels are 3/8th rear. Or you can just modify you trucks, wheels or deck to make em work, rolls eyes. What a shame for such a good product.

well, thats a little harsh on mcCree.what i will say is we did make a decision to stock radikal axles, and we have been giving our customers a choice.knowing what the axles cost and what they sell for,it makes it hard for me to believe there is a conspiracy to sell axles.what i know anyone, who is selling gear for racing,is margins are tight, manufacturing runs a low,so financially, keeping three years of stock around is nuts, especially at the rate equipment is evolving.essentially it is passion.cfav

Yea,

after seeing that all the trucks came with the 1/4"ers I decided to stock the axles too, trouble is GETTING SOME!!!!!!!!! Jack sent me some, but they got lost in the USPS, so now I am waiting for some more Jack found and sent, but there aren't even enough to "fix" the rear trucks I bought.

Is there any wheel at all that runs on the rears on the 1/4's?

Cheers

Adrian

I've been running SHAVED Avalons on my 1/4" axles for over a year and never felt any bite at all.

Adrian, all I can tell you is I waited for NINE MONTHS for axles and finally got three sets of everything (including the 1/4" on the trucks) last month from Keith. He had plenty of everything. I've not got seven FRONT Radikals set up in the combinations I want for each board and a bag of axles in case I ever want to change my mind and experiment.

Unless Keith has sold out and not got anymore stock (which I doubt) he should have what you need.
