Radikal Dragon Tail+Zig Zags=Shortest Axle length?

Post by Joel Crawley » Thu Mar 02, 2006 12:32 am

I'm using a Radikal Tail and 66mm ABEC11 Zig Zags. Right now the truck has .500 axles. I'd like to go to the .375's but I'm not sure there would be enough clearance between the wheels and the trailing arms. There is a 1/4" between them now and if I go with the shorter axles in theory (well I suppose reality) there would be about a 1/8" between the arms and the wheels.

I'm curious if that's enough? Would the wheel flex enough for it to contact the arms? I mean what fits while it's on the work bench might not actually fit when under load/stess.

Anyone using such a combo? I'd appreciate any insight.

Thanks.

im using the .375 in the rear with no clearance issues with the 70mm retros, so the 66 should be fine. I still find this truck too wide in the rear sometimes., gotta buy me a narrow one.

If it fits really close, you can always use a thin washer or two to widen it out just a bit. I've had good luck with some old conical washers from Motobilt trucks from the '80s.

How about the .250's with 66mm zig zags?

On the rear? I don't think that'll fit. I'll try it when I get home. If they fit, I'll confirm it. But otherwise, consider it a no-go.
