Friday July 16- Sunday July 18, 2010. Overlook Dr., Lafayette ColoRADo click here for map

We will take 56 paid registrations. Key word is paid. We are taking a limited number of racers so that we have time to run 4 races; Tight, Slalom, GS, and Downhill (4-man). Please register at https://www.regonline.com/seismicworldcup
Entry Fee is $125 for ISSA Members. Fee is $155 for non-members. If you are paying as a non-member, your extra entry fee pays your ISSA membership due for the season. Entry fee is for all four races or you can sign up for the Downhill-only for $25. There is no discount for skipping downhill, or any other event. Overall is based on slalom events only. King-of-the-hill will be based on all 4 events.

We will have 3 racers divisions;
Open (A & B brackets based on Qualifying),
Masters (45 and older),
We might have a Juniors division if 8 or more 17-and-unders want to race in Jr's., otherwise they will be added to Open.

Friday eve - 6-9PM Tight Qualifiers

Saturday 8AM-12PM Tight Elims
Saturday 12PM-6PM Slalom Qual & Elim

Sunday 8AM-2PM Dual GS
Sunday 3PM Downhill

Prize Purse:
$4050 total prize purse
Tight payout $850
Slalom payout $850
GS payout $850
Masters Overall $500
Women Overall $500
Downhill payout $400

Racer hotel will be the La Quinta, 902 W. Dillon Rd. Louisville, CO. (Google Maps put this in the wrong place). Racer discount is based on 10 room booking.

Downhill will be a connection of Overlook, Butte, Horizon, and Panorama streets assuming we can get all the permissions needed to close these roads. If we can't get permissions we will run it on Overlook with some sculpting.

We intend to have large 9' start ramp(s) but we will keep you updated on this. We have 3' start ramps presently. We're hoping to have the budget to build these ramps but we wont know until June if we'll have them or not.

We're experimenting with "cones" that will reduce or eliminate counting, chasing, misplacing, etc. Details on these experiments will be posted as soon as we have settled on a format that is safe and effective. We'll be using a TrackMate timer.

More details to come.

The run out is pretty good. You can usually easily stop without foot drag before the intersection. The hill is scary steep and fast though ...

Gary - can you post a list of who is registered so far? It would be good to know if space is going fast or not, to help plan booking plane/hotel/car etc.

Also, do you have an ISSA sanction yet?

Seismic World Cup

Post by Gary Fluitt » Wed May 26, 2010 12:43 am

Rick, good questions, thanks.

We do have an ISSA Sanction for this event at the World Cup level. So that means that this race caries the greatest number of points one can earn. There are 6 World Cup level races in a season. This season there are three in Europe, and three in N.America. All three N.American races are in the U.S. Texas was a World Cup, Colorado is a World Cup, and Antrim is a World Cup.
I want to apologize in advance for the lack of clarity we (ISSA) have had with this world cup status thing. It's a new system for us and we should have been more communicative about it throughout the transition. Anyway- Colorado is a WC level event, on par with the World Championships in Czech this summer.

As for racer sign ups, I'm doing things a little differently this year. You cannot sign up without paying your entry fee. And so sign ups have been light as you might expect. That said, there are 44 spots remaining in registration. We are capping the event at 56 racers, so that we can run four events in the weekend. Once 56 slalom racers are signed up, racer registration will be closed and you will only be able to get on a waitlist.

The event is July 16-18 in Boulder area (technically Lafayette, CO).

Allrighty, I'm in...

Who's racing me for last place in the B (ginner) class?

So, what is there for kids to do in and around Loisville / Lafayette when they're not cone-heading?

Following are the skaters who have signed up and paid for the Colorado race. I know of about 10 other racers who have made travel arrangements but just haven't signed up yet.http://www.regonline.com/seismicworldcup

Thats fine, but as I announced, we are taking only 56 skaters. When it's full, it's full. There are still 34 spots left. Here is who has signed up and paid their entry fee.

Adam.......Schwippert .Open

My intention is to break the divisions up into brackets of 8 skaters so to make the races more competitive. If we don't get to 16 in a division, we're looking at double or triple elimination brackets, so you have to loose multiple times before you're done for the day. We want to maximize the number of runs you get in.

There has also been some question about prize purse. the Previously announce $4,000 in purse was based on a full roster of 56 skaters. What I will do is put all the cash I get into the purse after expenses (porta potties, generators, PTSD therapy). Right now that's about $2000 in purse but it will likely be $3000 in purse by race day. I will keep you updated on the prize purse situation.

Once again this is a World Cup event, points are worth that of the World Championships. One of three races in N. Amer with this points value (Texas and Antrim the other two here in N.Amer).

Gary...... can we get the results (times) from the Colorado please?
Also, any word yet on the trophies/medals for the women's downhill?
Last time we spoke, you said there was a mix up & you should be getting them soon.

Any info would be appreciated.
Thank you
