[2006] Luna 2006?

Post by Marty Schaub » Wed Jan 04, 2006 3:47 pm

Ricky, Frank, or?

Do we have any word on Luna 2006? Are there dates set? Any info would be appreciated as I have to schedule work pretty far in advance.

Thanks

We're working on getting things planned, for April as usual, but I'm not sure Ricky has set an exact date as he isn't 100% sure on the location. Doesn't really want to move it, as it's difficult to get a new town to let us in, but is questioning whether to use the same hills also. Will let you know as soon as something is set.

I was digging through my old travel bag and behold a can of RedBull from the first Luna Slalom Jam. Should I drink it, keep it, sell it on Ebay. Oh what to do. Eddy Texas Outlaws.

Man oh man. If you can, have it on the same hill as last year. It's not a screamer for GS like La Costa, Breckenridge or Turri Rd., but for hybrid or TS I think it's absolutely world class.

Great slope, great low-key surroundings--and in the words of Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons: Best. Surface. Ever.

Thanks for the question guys and thanks for the answers Laura.

Today is my meeting with the city of Ridgeland. The hill from last year has been ruin by some construction crew dropping blobs of asphalt all over the hill which forces me to move. I've got a couple spots in mind and both will be good for the city and us.

I haven't wanted to release any type of details till I knew more. One spot may force us to move into the first of May. We'll see today.

Redbull is shakey also. New marketing person in place this year but with the help of Eddie Tanner, the past rep, it will be on. He hinted at some "changes". Makes me nervous.

This thread will be the first to know.

Please!

Please avoid May 14th as it's Mothers Day. "Honey, I'm going to a race" would go over like a lead balloon.

It going to be May 5th & 6th with a possible banked slalom outlaw on the 7th.

The city couldn't let us have the venue until then. This will be a great spot to race, restrooms, ice machine, kitchen, nice fenced yard for racers only to lay out equipment and possible camping, porch with ceiling fans to cool down with a view of a nice lake. Hill is short but steep with a very nice surface.

I plan on doing the junior classes, women's, senior's and possible cyber with the states largest game of SKATE for the street guys. A full day of skateboarding!

Friday we are looking at a big hill.

If anybody does Google Earth. Look for Post Road, Ridgeland, MS for the Saturday event and Cole Road, Ridgeland, MS for Friday night.

Now I must get my timing system fixed. Any new developments in the wonderful world of cabling? Wes? Bosco? Marion?

More later.

You should look into borrowing Marcos' system- people were running over the wires all day when we went to race with them and I was FREAKING OUT- but it turns out, it's OKAY to run over their wires. I don't know why. I guess I shouldn't offer you other people's stuff.

My Trak Mate Contraption

Post by Wesley Tucker » Tue Jan 10, 2006 7:32 pm

Byrddog,

Since you asked :-)

Here's what I got for cable:

http://www.deepsurplus.com/s.nl/sc.2/ca ... /id.748/.f

I got 1,000 feet for $66.13.

And I also bought a new reel for the cable at:

Cable Reel

Then, after all that, I have a topic in the TIMING SYSTEMS forum about putting it all together including some carpentry work to make a handle:

viewtopic.php?t=3214

And just for the record, nothing has changed. I have EVERYTHING for a Trak-Mate (cable, spool, tape switches, duct tape,) . . . except the Trak Mate. Still waiting to see what Daniel will do next about an upgrade.
