My buddy in Chi-town is getting married on 7/23...maybe I can hit the TS in the morning before the service!

Will this be a one-day event, or is racing planned for Sunday too?

hi all, make no mistake, chicago is on for 7/23.we have not posted on the other site for a sign up as we are still tweaking the details with the chicago park district.we are hosting a tight, hybrid and bowl contest.we have a butter surface,we are NEXT to the skatepark, plenty of parking, foodlife will sponsor the bbq, we are set.bob o'niel who is with the parkdistrict is totally down to do this.he is a big fan of skating and all skaters in chi-town owe him big time.expect major cross over from the regulars and some sick skating in the bowl contest.cf

C-Fav when you say tight slalom do you mean 5.5 and 5.0 footers. Got to get these Texas Boys ready. And plus I have something for you Reposado Tequila Corralejo, Hecho en Mexico. It goes down like butter, not like that Cuervo crap they sell in the states. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws.

Depending on how many of us need a place to crash - why don't we find a suite and have everyone hang out at the same place.

On the same note - we could all stay with Chris!!!!

Eddy - not a problem, look forward to helping you out.

I trust the travel agents at the office though....we're in good hands..

Hey Chef, as far as the bar crawl.....i'm hoping these places will be close enough to walk to too...Nancy can skate but she says it'd be pretty hard to do in heels....so we'll be hoofing it....no problems though......just somebody save us a seat when you beat us to the next watering hole ......

Well,
It has been awfully quiet around here; no recent posts, no sign-up/contest calendar.

Is this thing still gonna happen? The race (if there still is a race) is only 3 weeks away.

Who all is gonna show?

Good point Kevin....hey Chef.....a great skate hill or bank is a good thing to keep secret...but that may not be the case for a race....especially for folks who are flying in

Kev, not sure if you got a hotel yet, but they're filling up...yuo can always reserve a room and cancel if need be a couple days before.

Nancy and I kept our reservations at the Allegro (we got it for 240.00 for two nights).
It's just under a mile from where some of the other guys are staying (embassy suites) but it's a nice walk....It's also about 100.00 less per night if you can still get in. There's also the Holiday Inn right next door to the Embassy Suites, coming in at about 300.00 for two nights....nice place too ....there's still options at some places

I think we may bring a timer and cones just-in-case though

Just make sure that C-Nova character shows up. Counting the days. C-Fav will talk to you as the race approaches. Allen I am afraid we won't have a Sword to pass around, will a bottle of Tequila suffice. Chris look forward to seeing you and the Kill City Racing crew. Ricky Byrd and RKR will be in the house. The Daggers will be in full force. Red Clay, slalom overload. Counting the days. Eddy Texas Outlaws.

PRICELINE DEAL IN CHICAGO

Posted: Mon Jul 04, 2005 8:09 pm
by Wesley Tucker
I guess this is a good deal? According to the map, it looks like my hotel is right across the river from The Sears Tower.

ANYONE GOING TO CHICAGO WHO HASN'T GOT A ROOM YET, CONSIDER THIS:
I went to Priceline today and bid $75.00 a night and GOT IT. The cheapest retail room I could find was $109 a night out by the airport. I think with this room I can get in the car, go on Monroe to Michigan Avenue and head north to the race sight. Pretty simple.

Club Quarters Central Loop Chicago

Check-In Date: Friday, July 22, 2005
Check-Out Date: Monday, July 25, 2005
Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area
111 West Adams Street
Chicago, Illinois 60603
312-214-6400

Reservation Information:
Reservation Name: Wesley M Tucker
Check-In Date: Fri, Jul 22, 2005
Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM
Check-Out Date: Mon, Jul 25, 2005
Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM
Payment Information:
Your Offer Price: $75.00
Number of Rooms: 1
Number of Nights: 3
Travel Insurance: $15.00
Subtotal: $240.00
Taxes & Service Fees:
$43.66
Total Charges: $283.66
RESERVATION CONFIRMED

Anyway, it looks to me like a deal, so I grabbed it. Oh, and I bid for TWO STAR room and was upgraded to a THREE STAR by Priceline. Give it a whirl. It can't hurt to try.

No, you can't stay in my room.

WT,thats an awesome deal.my reccomendation, dont rent cars.parking is expensive(at least 20$ per day at your hotel) and public transportaion is cheap and plentiful.you can taKE THE SUBWAY TO WILSON FROM DOWNTOWN(REDLINE). you can take the blue line from ohare or the orange line to downtown from midway.these trains take a little longer than by car with no traffic.if there is traffic, the trains are way faster.cabs are reasonable.from the airport to downtown, think 30$,but if you double up,halve that.so again,i do not reccomend cars.try CTA.com for more details,cf

Public Tranpo

Posted: Tue Jul 05, 2005 5:26 pm
by Marty Schaub
Hey Ya'll

Chris speaks the truth on Chicago transpo. Even though I am not headed to Chi-town for the race I have been there before. We did a Cubs weekend a couple of years ago and stayed at a hotel out by Midway airport. The hotel shuttled us to the CTA start. We trained right into downtown, walked a block, next train right to Wrigley. Clean and efficent. Afterwards we trained to Rush Street and crawled bars for hours. Train? Two blocks and back to the station. VERY sweet.

Cool thing was I was able to access all of the maps online. Chicagotransitauthority.com I believe. (Or CTA.com) CRS disease.
