alright.first,i have done a lot of events, for charity and profit.i am familar with the permits we will need to make this happen.we have some connects with the park district, and chicago is cool about events like this.think a hill similar to athens downtown, maybe a little steeper, think lakefront park on a saturday night, like july 9.oh,by wilson skatepark.i can think of a couple of local sponsors, did i mention the park slalom on friday night?you get the picture.lets do it.cf

Okay so if July 3 and 4 isn't a good date for your race then make sure you keep the the 1 and 2 open to come and race in Ottawa. K?

Our Ottawa July 1 and 2 is going to happen. so we hope to see you here, EH!

That would be one hell of a Primo slide!

I'll look inti it for you. By then you will likely be in a carpool (and have to swim)! :)

I'm sure there is a rail connection but at the very least there are buses.

Let's wait until the 2005 MLB schedule is published. If I'm coming all the way to Chicago then by God I better see the Braves play at Wrigley Field!

wes,you got it.but hey, seriously.we are ready to go.we have a couple of races under our belt,a chronocone timing system almost complete, some sponsor money,a couple of potential sites and a whole pot of stoke bubbling over from this year.i think rick series is an awesome idea.i went to paris this year and got a taste of the more serious events.i have had much more fun at the grass roots races this year and am so looking forward to dave gales race.this reminds me of the backyard ramp series in the early eighties.cf

hi,update,i have the permit apps and am scouting locations.i have forgotten i have connections with the dept of cultural affairs and tourism.if we upgrade the event status,we might get them to sign on and grease the wheels in regards to getting this thru the dept of special events.could we call it a world cup,or summer nationals?and if so are there any skate companies looking to tie in as sponsors?i plan on using other sponsors too,ie:skateshops, hotels etc.let me know.my plan is to call the date at the end of the month..we are prolly gonn go with the weekend of 7/15.also,any one want to step and announce or have production advice?the goal is to throw a world class event within the framework 66 has laid out.cf

by Chris Favero
oh,alamost forgot, does anyone have any promo videos they could lend me to get the stoke going with the city.not just some racing, but also the people and overview of the event?the permit process is 45 days,so we are on schedule, but i need to go thru aldermen, police captians etc,so please let me know.cf

Keep me posted

Hi Chris!

I'll plan on being there. Even with the sk8camps it should be easy enough for me to get away for the weekend.

We are having our meeting for the July 1 & 2 dovercourt Open next week so we will update that for all of you as well. Speaking with the guys in DC we decided to try to do the Can-Am thing in 2006 instead.

Hey Chris...there's no reason for it NOT to be called a Regional or Midwest Championship. Who's going to debate it?.....and you may want to drop Mollica a line for a video...it looks like he's got as much combined footage as anybody....Finally, there's one person i can ask about a partial sponsor.....but i'd need more concrete info first....and i'm 99% sure that Kill City could be providing the trophies......but..........please dont make it the 2nd or 3rd weekends of July!

I'll be sure and take that weekend off...With given pe- notice!!! But, you were joking about leaving me at a Crack house neighborhood ...weren't you???? "Help me!!!" " Swim!!!!" " I Can't!!!!!" "Guido, I'll meet ya' at Teays Landing" "I just took my med. kit out of the truck"
"Chris is hatin' it" "Oh God Dave, tell me there's no more whitewater" "Just one more...called "ol Nasty" "Shit" "Oh just lay on the floor, and catch your breath" Hey...there's Sidlo and Guido!!! Why are they laughing????
AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGgHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
I must make it to Chicago a go-go and be down w/ that!!!

As far as Nuts and Bolts of it goes, the man who just posted can probably be a great resource for that stuff.

As far as my $0.02, I'm down with calling a regional/ Mid-west champ. event if it will help the cause. I agree with Chris B, mid-July would be rough due to other obligations (16-23).

but late August........?.....i dont think theres anything going on East of the Mississippi in August outside of the Farm.........end of June......end of July

Well 66 threw it out I like the term summer nationals. My intention is to draw from Europe and the UK. London/Chicago is an easy non stop to do and with the weak dollar, it's like half price for those guys. cf

As soon as you have dates let me know. The DownHill Billies will do their best to be there in FORCE! I have a client in Chi Town I need to see and this could work out great!

I've never been outside of the Chi-town airports, so I'd love to skate in for a visit. Of course, don't set your contest dates around me, but I prefer any wknd in July except the last one....as Curt Kimble,Lbk, myself, and probably WesE and BP will be busy w/the 3rd Annual Mid-Atlantic Bowl Series....I believe our series starts the last wknd in July and follows through august. Plus, I may be throwing down a solar session funtest at Lansdowne nr labour Day! Of course, you all are invited! You pick your dates that will suit you and we will just have to live with it.

Race and Hotel Location

Chris F and Chris B,
What area of Chicago would be the best place to search for a hotel room for the race weekend?

Posted: Mon Mar 07, 2005 3:43 pm
by Chris Favero
kevin.downtown/loop.chicago has a ton of hotels.since you are way out time wise, try the super 8 on ohio,it is just off michigan ave in the heart of the mag mile.taxis, busses and subways abound.if you want to step it up,i reccomend the hard rock hotel on michigan ave(same vicinity as super 8).killer rock n roll rooms.try orbitz or travelocity, the would have specials.cf

Posted: Mon Mar 07, 2005 10:15 pm
by Christopher Bara
check your pocketbook too!
That hard rock hotel is mucho dinero
Last time we were there we stayed at a "hotel with character".....actually, some old joint right on Michigan across from the park. Great price (i think about 125 a night, Chicago aint cheap), great location, and the place was kinda clean, but over 100 years old and it was starting to show it's age. None the less, for a decent bed close to the action it was worth it. Chris is right though, i think i typed in CHICAGO HOTELS in Search and found some websites that listed them all out.
Expect to spend between 125 and 200. A bit high, but it's worth it, trust me.
The race last time was near the field museum on the east side of Grant Park. Assuming that's the general area where this one will be too. So depending on how far you want to walk/taxi, let that be your guide. If you take your car, there's parking a short distance away at Shedds Aquarium. It's a very very nice park to walk thru, completely safe.

the friday night out law will be an epic g/s in grant park.you guys have not raced on this set up of a hill, but we found a new one.will be taking pictures soon.cf

All I plead of you, is "no stranding me in a crack house" I swear..next time I'll keep you and Sidlo in the raft!! ...But we're going for the big creek!! 16' ft waterfalls 125' per mile drop !!! We're talkin' steep! Just PLEASE, don't take me to a bad neighborhood and leave me!
Anyone else up for a trip (river) of a life time??? I'll take care of 6 or 8 of ya' and Guido will do the same!!!

chi-town shoot out 2005 slalom and bowlriders

Posted: Fri Apr 15, 2005 10:21 pm
by Chris Favero
here is the lowdon.we have met with the park district, they are on board,we have tentitive sponsor in uprise skate shop.the deal is,the race will be held at wilson ave and the lake.the hill is next to the skatepark, sooo the line up looks like this.sat 7/23, tight slalom jam in the a.m..we will use the results from tight to bracket the hybrid.we will run the hybrid in the afternoon.in the evening we will host a bowlriders contest at the park.some of you guys have skated the ameoba at wilson and know its killer.so the hill is right next to the park,it is butter,it is wide and it is ours.we look to have a signed commitment on this by next friday so i can bring flyers to athens and post it on the web.needless to say this event is going to be huge, tons of crossover.maybe we can do a team cup too,ie:daggers, freak bros, kill city, red clay, etc.here we go people.cf
