There were 109 competitors all in all. Only the top 32 in each class were published.

Looking good for next years series!

Dan, is there any way to find out actual times? I'm sure I'm not the only Open rider who wonders how they would have done in the Pros....
I'm dying to know the times of my two tight slalom races with Mike Dong especially.

Dan can fill in the details, but there was a fair gap between pro and open times on Sunday. The fastest pros were running in the range of 16.5 - 17.0 secs, while the fastest open racers were in the range of 17.3 - 17.8 secs. In the final round, PD and Chicken ran 16.6, while Paul Price ran 17.6. It's tough to do a direct comparison, but that might be in the range of 8th - 12th in the pros.

I know one of my runs with Dong (the first I think) he ran a 17.0 clean, the second run was 17.2 as I remember. Both runs at that point in the day were the fastest yet.

Dong was HOT! I think if the open finals happened then and there and not 3 hours later (riders sit and stiffen up and psych themselves out at time) the outcome would have been different. Dong was on fire in the early rounds. That is racing though and I do like the open and pro finals running together.

all in all it was the best racing I have yet to see in both classes all season.

Dong ran 17.319 in his first run and you ran 17.589 in your second run. Those were respectively the fastest runs in the round of 16. The fastest runs for the pros in the round of 16 were Gilmour with 16.657 and Dunn with 16.720.

Overall fastest runs of the day were 17.190 for Michael Dong in the open and 16.492 for Mike Maysey in the pro.

Ha! Acoustics at the bottom of the hill distort ones times...hahaha.

I knew I was around .2 off of Dong....thats good racing!

Mr.Stepanek,

I watched your race/runs myself and you looked fast. I did have a stopwatch and was using it from the bottom of the course, watching the gate swing and racer cross the beam for start and end points. My personal timing system was off less than .5 seconds. With this, I was able to "weed out" the fastest racers on my own. Every once and a while, there would be a announcement of the elapsed time, and as I said, I was within .5 seconds.

A stopwatch will always hang around my neck at the races whether I am preparing to race or am simply watching. A lot of homework can be helped along with a good stopwatch/technique.

M.Dong, B.Deck, J.Gilmour, P.Dunn, D.Peters and many others pulled down times in high 16's low 17's (Morro) from my own calc/timing. Eventually, from hearing advancement and an occaisional time I felt a little more of a fan and integral to the action. Stopwatch included in the quiver indeed.

I did not get to time your runs as I had J.Soderhall's digital taking images. It was a little much trying to do both and pay attention. I may however have a good image of you on course. Jani will give me the download and I will search you out if you are interested.

I am sorry that I didn't get a chance to meet you in person, I should have stopped you when Mark McCree was showing me the new Radikal truck (knuckle bearing, spring or bushing, offset, etc) sets. You walked by on the side street where you were parked and we were talking and we caught eyes but to be polite not breaking my conversation with Mr.McCree.

*phew*

Anyway, you "looked" good on course and there were so many FAAAST racers, unreal.

I snuck in another web site and saw (I think it was yours) your URL for race pictures, thanks, I appreciate looking at them.

So many people I got to meet for the first time. Paul Dunn was very polite in seeking me out and taking time to simply chit chat. Henry Hester, well, Bad H was cool to me. Jani Soderhall, John Gilmour, what a couple of ambassadours, very nice guys. Jack Smith, Howard Gordon and kids and Charlie Ransom too. Dan Gesmer is so interesting, I really can't wait to "upgrade" my Seismic quiver and maybe get a copy of the Excel file (there are so many more)...

Blah blah blah

...anyway Chris, I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet you (and Chris Chaput) you two are the only people who I really was not either introduced to or had the opportunity to distract from the task at hand.

What a great weekend.

Adam...did I see you? I thought I met everyone I hadn't already, I know I met people I don't remember the names of...I am bad like that..

Anyway...When I run my qualifiers I run them with a stopwatch in my hand (Curt Kimbal taught me that), on my practice runs I was running between 17.2 and 18.0 depending on how hard I ran into the course, usually I am usually dead on in box/push starts but the ramps threw me off..I couldn't get the timing down so I don't think I was hititng the start button until after I was partly down the ramp which makes sense that my "best" time was .3 slower, thinking back on the course my whitebird with midtracks and 85a/80a cut down avalons would have been the board instead of my needlenose/rt-x/ttc100/82a cambria combo....

Don't you love rethinking your board choices after the fact...hahahah.

Make sure to pull me aside next time you see me, I wanted to say hi.
