If you want a low-budget stay, many of the local skaters are prepared to host you. Write to Contact@Riderz.net for such requests. Keep other questions, if possible, to this forum.

Hotel chains like these are probably just outside the city boarder, but that is still close. The metro and the local trains (RER) provide excellent means of transport. No need to rent a car.

Paul,

It is so difficult to recommend a hotel in Paris, either you try with one of the "chains" of hotels that I have listed in this thread or other chains like http://www.etaphotel.com or Holiday Inn, or you stay in a family style hotels of which there are probably a thousand. I don't think you should worry so much about being right next to the event site (although of course that would be rad). The metro is excellent for getting around. It is probably your budget that should decide.

Maybe a site like this could help, but I have not experience with them.

A google search of +hotel +Paris brings up many many options...

A zip code of 75016 or 75008 should be pretty close to the site of Trocadero.
Any hotel that says that it is close to either the Eiffel Tower or the Champs Elysées could be within walking distance. For all others you would have to take the metro.

Hope you'll find something suitable.

How do you pronouce that hotel?

More seriously, can you also reccommend where the skaters could find food that is good for reasonable prices? Perhaps we could agree on some lunch spots.

Also some skaters have asked me where they can safely leave their gear- cameras etc. Will there be a "Skater bag check" or shall I tell skaters to bring lockable suitcases?

The bag question may be serious, good idea....thousands of dollars and euros in slalom stuff may be lying around.....

We are working on a storage facility for the gear for the skaters. I'm not in charge but I think I saw a message coming by saying that it was taken care off.

If not the only safe place will be under the starting ramps. But of course all skaters have access. The whole area is fenced off and each skater will have a bracelet to show that are allowed inside.

Is anyone getting to Paris early for the Wednesday night slalom jam session?

I'd like to split a hotel room with someone for Wednesday and Thursady night.

I decided to skip the Iceland leg and come to the jam session if I can find accommodations.

The regular Paris sessions are:

Tuesday on the Trocadero, mostly a longboarding session, with heavy duty slides and general crusing. Slalom courses are set if somebody brings cones of which there are very few so far. (Soon to be resolved...)

Thursday (formerly) Wednesday next to the Charlety stadium. This is a slalom only session. The hill is not as steep as the Trocadero and excellent for tight slalom.

Next week Corky and Dan Gesmer will be here early, so we might do a couple of sessions during the week to get into shape. Friday for sure will be a whole day of practice.

the 3ducks, aloha and la Maison are all about 4-5 km south east of the Trocadero and are about 22 Euro a night including breakfast.
