HOW TO GET THERE

Posted: Sun Apr 05, 2009 4:38 pm
by Ramón Königshausen
The best way to get there is:

- Take the train S9 from Zürich HB in direction of Zug

- Get off at Bonstetten/Wettswil

- Get on Shuttle #1

YOU'LL GET FREE TRANSPORTATION WITH YOU WESTFEST TICKET (the one I sent you by email)

Do not forget to print your ticket!

Wow! Its gonna be a long day in the tunnel... Will there be food, drinks, toilettes? Perhaps stupid question, but I've never been to a tunnel opening so I don't know what to expect.

Pelle is.....and in a desperate need for a floor to sleep on in Zürich.
I don´t know what the hotelstaff think about having an extra secret guest during nights.
Maybe someone living nearby have a space for him to crash on?
I have heard that the 161-team have bought a castle nearby.......maybe they have a tiny corner in the cellar?

Posted: Thu Apr 16, 2009 8:26 pm
by Marcus Seyffarth
Its true that 161 bought a castle (we used less than 1% of the amount that we earned in the first week of sales on our new truck) however due to a minor mistake we won't have access until may 1:st so we are about as desperate as Pelle.

Raymundo (and Claude); this is the "doh!" question, but I ask it anyways since I like to pack light and make room for trophies (or at least booze) on the way home. What will the courses be like? My guess is kind of open since we are under a tight schedule and we don't wanna count cones all day, but on the other hand if I know RMN correct you prefer TS. Can I leave my TS board at home?

Weehoo - one week to go!

Also, what is the surface like? Smooth? Rough? In between?

And would I need fluorescent-light sunscreen? :-)

Posted: Thu Apr 16, 2009 9:42 pm
by Robert Gaisek
If I know the swiss folks right I will guess that the surface is smooth as Pelle´s head.
I hope for an open course........the last time I was riding tight straight in Stockholm I took down 20 of 40-50 cones.....and I didn´t won anything for that.

No worries.....I have learn a bit since then.

I would like to offer floor space but George Pappas and Claude Regnier as well as some Germans have already claimed all the space I have.

I'm sure it will work out. If you bring a tent Pelle, you can camp in my backyard!

By the way, Here's a small update about what the GS hill looks like:

Standard courses can be expected. TS won't be too hard, you're right. We will do a good job, no worries ;)

So you're coming, Mr. JBH?

I got some crappy quality pics of the tunnel surface. I'd say it's not too smooth but alright.

Indeed I am. I found a good fare to Duesseldorf. An unnamed manufacturer in that vicinity assured me he could arrange some sort of transpo to Zurich. :-) (Flights to Zurich were 200 dollars more. :-()
I'm sure it will work out. If you bring a tent Pelle, you can camp in my backyard!
However, I might have to introduce myself to Pelle and sweet-talk him into letting me share his tent!

The Update is a .pdf file and has information about the Outlaw race. I do not post this online, sorry.

I'll just repeat whats already been said; THANK you for a fantastic weekend and a super race! I'm amazed by Ramon that you could keep focused and win both races in the tunnel while organizing - way to go!

The sunday was super with the most chilled wibe on a Swiss hill and almost unlimited number of GS runs while being coached by the fastest GS racers of today. Could it be any better? A few beers in Ramons backyard with almost every racer proved it could. Why don't we do this more often?

Dominik you are my hero. I gotta shape up so that I don't die from a heartattack during the next race if we get to race again. I better stop writing before I go all gay here and start telling you that I love you all. Anyways hope to see you all soon (less than three years that is - JBH)!
