SATURDAY
-------------------------

It's nice and dry outside. We're ready for the tight (straight) slalom. The ramps are beautiful and will give good speed. We usually use ramps that are 1m high, but these are 1m40, so that'll give more speed than most will want at the top of the Trocadero hill.

We've set courses of 50 cones (at 1.80 m) for the Pros and 35 for the Ams (at 2.00 m). Someone already raised concerns for the pro course, is it going to be too fast? We'll see.

Start making your bets on who wins today!

Monday Hybrid Slalom Results (All in one)

Is this the Pavel thread or the Paris World Cup thread? Maybe I'm posting in the wrong place?

Well, apart from Dominik being the King of Paris it was some very warm and sunny days in Paris. No rain this year. At least not during the event. But 1 hour after the event finished with the last prize cermony in front of the Eiffel tower there apparently was some heavy rain coming down. So this event was historical in this sence. First Paris World Cup with no rain. And of course that made cables and tapeswitches happy also. Things was running smoothly and it was probably the best Paris World since the start. We will see what people think once they get home and get some distance to the whole thing. Right now I just want to sleep.

On the racing side there was also some very good racing and some new slalom talents that have taken 1 or 2 steps forward. Also nice to see that some Americans and Canadians came over to Paris also this year event though some might make priority for the Worlds in Gothenburg, Sweden later on this summer. And funny also to see a gang of Spanish slalomers showing up. Spain have been silent on the slalom scene since the 80's. And fun to see that the Netherlands are starting to show up at international slalom events.

6:th Paris World Cup in a row with Main status. A record hard to beat. But then again, where in the world do you find a better slalom spot than Trocadero in Paris?

I knew Dominik would win the Hybrid, but going down in history by winning all 3 races?

This is totally DOM !

Now everybody watch out for future races:
talent, pysical and mental power - the Dominator has got all you need for winning slalom races.

p.s.: it's a pitty he couldn't make it to the park race, know what I mean.....

FREESTYLE

First of all, a huge thanks to Corky, Dan, Detlef, Paul and Flavio (great speaker, we are counting on you next time as well) for your participation in the freestyle event. To Jani and Lillis for making it happen, to Jean-Mi for fixing problems on-site and to ETNIES and Sk8kings for sponsoring the event.
It was great to see freestyle back in France with so many participants and a high level of skating. I’m sorry I couldn’t compete, but I’m looking forward to meeting you all soon.

Back to SLALOM

Thanks to the PoliticLongboardActivist team for helping us out with the ramps Tuesday and to all those who helped us pack up on Monday.

Secondly, as already said above, it was a GREAT week-end. Especially for Christopher who entered the CONERACING team, who beat Antonio (Antonio’s DQ doesn’t matter for him he is going to buy a picture frame for the results anyway) and who did some very good results with the amateurs (and I’m not saying that because I’m his father).

Congrats to the Dominator, king of Trocadero.

It was great to see old friends and to make some new ones. Well, we just had a fantastic time and we can’t wait to see all of you at the next race.

Some pics up soon.

Although I could not attend this year's Freestyle event, I want to say a BIG THANKS in the name of all Freestylers to the organizers to include this event in Paris. Quite a few highly ranked Freestylers made their way to Paris, so there is even more room for next year.
We have some new blood in there as well and even Rene from Brazil made his way over.
Keep on going....

PARIS I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Dominik Kowalski
YEAH!!!!!!!!

I don't want to leave Paris without a little feedback...but mostly I already told Jani, as it was all done and over and a small cloud appeared and gave us rain at last. So strange. It really just rained at the troca, across the seine, everything else stayed dry. That really was a moment, and that made it perfect after all.

Man, I like to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for making this event the best ever!
The schedule was full of skateboarding events. There you had pool (grrrr!), High Jump, Freestyle and Slalom all included. Wonderfull!
ok...

pro:
+++ Timing system: flaweless, quick and I really enjoyed the starting with a random beep method (altough it could have been started a bit earlier in average), and now there you had something more likey what a reaction time really is!

+++ Schedule: I loved it. It made it for Pros very comfortable to race! AMs get to practice, as the crew is getting set. Pros come late and finish early. Great! Cause Pros want to finish the race, and the ams could watch the Pros and learn, and think about setting up their equipment and skate longer. and having a little ceremony after each raced day! Nice!

+++ MC Jani on tha mic, constanly giving good information, in english or french. He just did a lovely job!

+++ Media: Many many photographers and guys with videocams. The poster looked great (would also have been without me printed twice....;)

+++ Awesome prices for ams, and very good money for pros!!! Congrats on this.

+++ The weather! Can't really control it, but thanks anyway!

This year Paris raised the bar for any upcoming events! Good information, together with a good schedule, good equipment and a professional team, gives a super combo!!!!
Thanks again for all the hard work! There are maybe more stuff to consider that I can't think of right now. But it is not hard to tell that you've done a really good job, and with this I mean everybody involved.

cons:

- The food was not as good as last year. It was a bit poor, and strange to me that I couldn't choose what to drink, well unless you really really begged.

- - - Corky ;)

- - - all those toilets not working!--------

---------especially the one across the street at the troca. Didn't find any button to indicate it was closed, and there you go, I took a poop as a young mother and her child wanted to enter, I was holding the door hard as it kept on opening....because the kid kept on pushing the fxxking button!!!! Priceless!

I can't believe a week ago we were all basking in the Paris sunshine now I am watching the rain running down the windows back in UK!

I just want to say a big thanks to Jani and his massive team of organisers for a great weekends racing, even if I did spend more time picking myself up off the tarmac than perhaps I would have liked! I loved every minute of it and can't wait for next year.
