[2007] Swedish Championships September 1:st in Stockholm

Post by Marcus Seyffarth » Fri Aug 03, 2007 12:53 pm

We gotta have a Swedish Champion this year as well, so the stockholm crew will organize (?) some kind of race on the first of september.

The plan is as usual to keep it fun, simple and gemythlich as we say. In Sweden we believe that is done best by having three events in one day. So we start of with straight slalom @ 09.00. Two warmup runs, Two qualify runs and then head 2 head.

We then move on to a the special, which will be fairly tight, but not impossible. Same rules, two warmup runs, two qualify runs and then head to head.

These events will be held at Tantolunden in Stockholm
MAP TO RACE (The race will be on the road above the mini golf course towards the boats)

This spot is freshly paved, with a short descent at the start (25meters) , and then almost flat for the rest 80-90 meters.

After this we will (hopefully) move on to do a GS, where everyone gets 4 runs. This GS spot is untested this far but seems very promising. Its only 5 minutes by skateboard from the first spot.

We will do our best to make sure everyone gets to participate in the head to head. If less than 16 participate the best qualifiers will get a BYE in the first round. If more than 16 but less than 32 will show up the first will get a BYE.

If everything moves on extremely smooth OR if the GS doesn't work, perhaps we'll give the 100 cone course a go. Nothing is impossible, get ready for a whole day of slalom!

Anyways. The starting fee is 50SEK (~6€). There is only one class. There won't be any prize money since we don't have any sponsors, there won't be any giveaways either but hopefully there will be trophies to the top 3 in each event. We will use a tiny start ramp (50cm) which has no transition and really is not very good. But it works. There is no real organization, there are no ranking points (no one bothered to send in the application) and it will probably rain. There won't be a lunch break, you gotta fix the food yourself (there are stores and restaurants close by). But despite that everyone is welcome! And if you come we will make sure you get to skate a lot and compete against the very best skaters in the woooooooooooooooooooooooooooorld!

Please send an email to marcus@ettsexett.com (no later than august 25:th) to let us know that you are coming!

I was good in slaloming, 25 years ago, in Italy.

I'm 40 now, but still in shape. problem is that I don't know where to train, so I think I will just come with my son and our skates, from Västerås. To see you and skate with you, but not participating the race, for this year...

I still have my skateboard, with new slalom wheels bought in Switzerland some months ago..
Board is in fiberglass..

Last call for passengers to Tanto!

Post by Marcus Seyffarth » Fri Aug 24, 2007 9:49 am

Last call for passengers to Tanto and SM!

The poll tells us that we'll be running straight, special and gs. We started setting a special last tuesday and it seems to be kind of tech, but still kind of open. I think it will be fun!

We noticed that the start of the course is kind of fast, so maybe 1.70m will be a little bit to hard. We'll see about that.

Also we set up a GS course, and its gonna be a BLAST! Its fast, kind of technical in some parts and if you blow out its gonna be suuuper fast and hard to stop :) So remember to bring your pads! No pads - no start. Easy as that.

23 registered racers so far. Tomorrow is last day to register! Send email to marcus@ettsexett.com to participate!

edit -> 24 registered racers. Perfect, top 8 gets BYE in the first round of head to head and everybody gets to race. No more entrants please :)

Dom, all I needed was a lesson from you, and I got it in Gothenburg. Thank you!

Actually I'm quite surprised that I won the GS, but hey its ok with me :)

Now make us proud and show the world how its done in Statesville. And that goes for all of you!
