Conical, sharp, painful. Approach too darned quick. That's slalom.

For those who haven't tried a Wasteland event before, this is a grass-roots slalom bash for allcomers. Run what you brung or try out what you covet. Courses are typically open and the whole cycle track is hired for the afternoon, so large cruising areas available.

This time we should have small start ramps to equalize the initial effort.
There will be two runs against the clock in order to set qualifying times, followed by dynamic head-to-head racing.

This day is as much a skater gathering as competitive event.

Contingency

And what if it rains?

The Grapes pub that is just off the roundabout (towards Hayes and look right) is also a Beefeater restaurant and so lets in kids under eighteen, provided they are away from the bar area.

It does have a basic dress code, and if this is a difficulty then there is rapid race food just over the road:

But let's hope these facilities don't come into play until the light fades.

None on the horizon in the UK as yet, Martin. But that just gives you the excuse to enjoy some European culture again. Here comes Summer!

Here's product to help you battle against the fuctup English weather:

Available at the track or from: http://www.octanesport.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=waste1

Proceeds go towards circuit hire and public liability insurance (what?).

Thanks to Pavel and Octane for getting us just that little bit warmer.
