hey, ho, my lovely little slalombuddys. don´t worry.
i´m not discouraged if i didn´t get a main status.
all what i did, was asking for a main status.

the work and the plans for our race will be the same.
we work on the quality of our courses, we try to find local sponsors.
in the last two years, we had a lot of competitors from eight countrys.
last year it was a pleasure for me to welcome skaters from canada.
this year i´m sure we are ready to welcome the best skaters from all over the world.

we are ready now to present a high class slalom event.
that´s why we asked for a main status.
personally i think, paris don´t need the main status, because everybody knows the
quality of the paris race. i go to paris, because it´s paris.
i think a main status will help hannover, to bring skaters to this competition that are interested in the status because of the points they can get.
if this is to revolutionary, then we will organize a prime race again.

you are right. i didn´t fill out the application for the issa contest sanction.
by the way. thank you for this application form. for me it´s a good way to ask for
a status. at the moment i don´t know, who will decide for the status?
last year, we post our event in this forum and all skaters who are interested
make the decision.
now, with the application form we can describe our Event and use some criteria
to allocate statuses to the candidates.
for me, i didn´t fill out the application form yet, because i wait for a few important
decisions for our event. next week i know more about the expo summer party, where we want to be part of.

by the way. last year we used the domain http://www.skateboardworldcup.com
to show skaters, what´s going on in the slalom world.
everybody can use this domain to attract interested skaters for there event.
if you have your own website for your event, send me your webadress and we will link to your site. if you don´t have a website, we will link to your post in this forum.

I'll be there to film and maybe to train a little, no matter what status it will be, but only if the final date is on 1 - 3 June; one week later I have to work...

I know of at least one other Dutch guy who will join the contest (and Paris as well!).

It's really nice to hear that you're coming to both Hannover and Paris. In the history of European slalom skateboarding there have been very, if any at all, Dutch and/or Belgian slalomers in major events.

Bruno Peeters: is Belgian; haven't seen him since Fontainebleau 1980's; didn't know he skated slalom.
Massimo Van der Plas: I've never ever seen him skate slalom. Haven't seen him since about 25 years.

There's also gonna be a slalom contest in Amsterdam, too, on June 23-(DATE AND PLACE TO BE CONFIRMED!). The Dutch Skateboard Federation posts all information on http://www.skateboardfederatie.nl/agenda.htm (all skateboard disciplines, but little about slalom).

I passed your e-mail address and message on to Benny. I asked him to place some info on the forum.

By the way, I just got his reply: the date (June 21) still has to be confirmed because of permits by the City Council. (I guess they won't mind, as there's also a red light district and plenty "coffee"shops).

I friend of me and me we decided to sign in for your contest in hannover. We will arrive at 1.6.07 23 o'clock on the airport. So we start at 2.6 and 2. 6...but where should we stay ? Is there a cheap racer place or something close to the contest area?

the waiter is stupid and you can get a few beers for free there.

Hi, I booked my train, expected arrival on Friday, June 1 Hannover Hbf: around 14:30-15 (first find a cheap hotel, buy some drinks, than to the slalom scene in the Expo 2000)
I leave at about 6 pm on Sunday, 3rd.
At what distance are the "tight cones"? 2m c-t-c? Is it on smooth asphalt?
Is there an alternative programme in case of rain? (like high jump, barrel jump?)

Plane ticket booked: I am going to try to make it to Paris, Hannover, Amsterdamn and that swedish race the next weekend after. I'll be living in Koblenz in the time between contests. Is there a sign up for this race?

for your accomodation we talk with our hotel partner. skaters from the last year know our official race hotel. it´s 3 minutes pushing from the race track. very nice rooms and cheap.
cheapest rate is the special rate by booking over there own system.

Is it true the Giant will happen on Friday?

o.k. rough schedule, but it´s really rough.
our giant will be in sarstedt, this is not the expo area.
the expo summer party is planned on saturday and sunday.
for that, it sounds best to me friday the giant in sarstedt and saturday and sunday on the expo area. but.... it´s a public road closed on friday and it´s not a good time to come to watch for the people in sarstedt. friday is a working day for most of us. how many skaters will be there?

friday morning we build the race track
training starts at 3 p.m.
pool session at 8 p.m.
get together at the hotel bar at 10 p.m.

saturday 9 a.m. training
11 a.m. race start tight, special
8 p.m. race stop
expo party / pool session

sunday
8 a.m. training giant in sarstedt
10 a.m. giant slalom (two runs each, best time count)
12:00 break, going back to the expo area
1:30 p.m. rest of the special/ tight race
4 p.m. price ceremony

pics will follow. i wait for blue sky to make the pics (next week for sure)
what do you think about the time schedule.
i would like to wait a little more to make the decision

Somehow I'm glad I haven't booked my flight yet.

Some people like to book asap (as soon as the the dates are announced) and have take off from work/school, so if you change your program like one or two months after you annouced the dates there might be people that already have booked their flights and asked for application for leave.

So I hope this is roughly the definitive schedule and I can book my flight in the next couple of days without worries.

Yes it's a good thing, I prefer 2 days competitions, so we can stay one more day with the family and save one hotel night fees' !

I could even take the night train thursday night, arrive friday morning and make it to the expo area.... sounds cool !

Not definitive for the moment about Friday but perhaps it's better to arrive Thursday evening more than Friday evening (even if my boss doesn't agree a lot)

In this case my biggest concern is about the end of the contest:
does it make sense book some flights on sunday evening around at 19:20 from Hannover Airport (HAJ)?
I don't know how far is this airport? I suppose the Expo area is well deserved but will we find a way to go easily there?
We have to try to be there at 18:20 I suppose! Is it too early??

( We can find good fares from Paris but there's only one flight at the end of the day. )

there will be no race on friday. we decided to have the competition only on staurday and sunday, but it´s possible to practise on friday as i wrote.
hopefully we end on sinday around 5 p.m. maybe earlier.
it´s no problem to go to the airport. there is a train from the expo area directly to the airport.
it takes 30 minutes to go to the airport maybe less than 30 minutes.

everything is around. the autobahn hits the expo area. just follow the "messe" signs
there are train, tram and bus stations around. i will post details later

I agree; the last time I was in Hannover, there was even an aerial cableway ("Seilbahn"). But that was during the Expo 2000....

we had so much fun there on a nice street area and a big halfpipe.
our race will be very close to the Dutch pavillion. he is still there. sometimes we skate the waves in the lower level (do you remember?)

and now to the berlin guys. it your cake but kommt nicht zu spät.
and the cone distance you are practising on the pic is for the berlin championship and not for our world cup. he,he,he

Sorry, no and no. I had just one day to visit about 100 pavillions (or at least so it seems).... I've seen no skater there.
BTW- last weekend I skated tight at about 1,50m., at full speed! It went very well, which I didn't expect.

You mention challenging GS and bring soft wheels. Does this mean that is will be set wide or that the road surface is less then good?

Should we bother to bring a GS board or could it possible to to ride it well on a short board due the offsets?

i still offer the possibility to have jason and cbark set the course for all.
they have enough experience to set the right thing for all attendants.
not that i want to take a way any glory from any other rider,but these two

the road is steep and i would like to set a very fast course, so riders can enjoy the speed.
but a few difficultys makes it more challenging, so better bring a giant board for our giant.
i will set a giant course in advance, but it´s no problem if jason and chris will change the course.

Dete! Just wondering if you had been able to make arrangement for transportation to and from the venues.

I spoke to a couple of North American racers that we're wondering what was happening. We will not be booking a vehicle in Hannover but would be willing to spend a few Euro's back anf forth from the Hotel to the race sites if required.

Only 3 weeks till Paris, 4 - 2 - Hannover -weehoo!

hotel mercure is aprrox 3 boardmins from the tracks at the expo,basically across the street to say so
there will be plenty of guys to share the car with when we go to the gs course.
so stay relaxed everything is cool and stop wondering,eh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
