[2002] Contest announcement: Kreuzlingen, Switzerland

Post by Jani Soderhall » Thu Oct 17, 2002 2:13 am

When: November 2-3
Where: Kreuzlingen, Switzerland
What: Slalom contest
Organizers: Bowl construction/Airflow/Indiana

I'm posting this without having the latest information on the topic, hoping that Chris Hart or another organizer will update this information soon.

The race will be held in a tunnel on the opening day. A big activity will surround the opening of the tunnel and up to 20.000 people are expected. Local buses takes visitors up to the tunnel every 15 minutes. Hopefully we should have quite a good crowd and a good opportunity to show off what slalom skateboard is all about.

More information at:

http://www.airflow-skateboards.com
http://www.kreuzlingen.ch/tunnelfest
(Info only available in German as far as I could see.)

Info copied from the Airflow site:

How do you enter the competition? Do you need to pre register or just show up? I tried and ran the website through babbelfish but still didn't understand all of it...

I really wanna go there... gotta get plane tickets...

I was wondering what the typical course layout would be? Any ideas?

Marcus and John,

you do not have to pre-register, just show up. You can enter anytime.

Maurus asked me to set the courses. The road has a slight pitch to it, probably not too much, since a tunnel is not too steep usually, I think a little less than Morro.
The organisers want the Saturday course to be fairly "Easy" so, everyone can enter. I think cone distance will be around 2 meters and some offsets.
The Sunday course will be tighter and as fast as possible to show the public and the younger racers (there are many of them in Switzerland) what is possible. I really think this will be a good idea and a good way to display a skateboard race and I would be happy if everyone showed up. I know Paul Price booked his ticket already while sitting in the internet cafe in Morro Bay!
Hope to see you!

Chris

I plan to come, mostly to see the locals and find out how many they are and what their level is.

I have yet to sort out my travelling though, so changes may occur.
