I'm 16 too, but I will join the men's class....or both like last year :D
I think we have to race in the men's class...that makes surely more fun! ;)

Karl,

yesss, you will have to start in the men´s class. Since this youngsters (I´m thinking of you Ramón!) are so damn fast nowadays the cut off age for juniors will be 15, that means 16 year olds start in the men class.

Aloha Deutschland ;)
Can we have news from the events?
First a few questions:
What kind of races? A tight and a Geant slalom?

Is there only one category for men or PRO and AM?

Inscription will be on the day ot the competition?

Hi Vincent,

sorry for the delay of our website but it should be online real soon. Since the European Championships are a two day event, we will have one race each day. Giant on Saturday, Tight on Sunday. Yes, there will be a Pro and Am category for the men this year. Women and Juniors will be open classes because usually there are too few competitors to split classes. The race site will be the same as last years German championship. So you can have a look on last years webpage www.dsm2003.com for pics of the site. As far as inscription is concerned you will have two ways of doing it: We (hopefully) have an online registration this year but it will be of course possible to register at the day of the event too.

See you!

Straight is boring and too simple for a European Championship!

I'm planning to come! Now if I could get a few hours of practice in that would be even better. I'm a bit rusty not having skated for 9 months or so. But you bet I'm motivated to race!

If the tight is tight, my new Airflow S-Camber will come into use.
And I also have a new GS setup waiting to be tested...

For the organizers:

Axel, what's your idea on course setting this year? Are those mirrored courses really such a good idea given that the road is not that wide? And let's start on the same side all the time (I suggest we enter from the right)

How about adapting that half-cone rule to full-cone rule for cone penalties? Your tools for measuring the half-cone were cool last year, but isn't it better to join others in giving cone penalties when the cone if fully outside the circle?

Jani,

course setting this year will not be mirrored! We will have two different tight courses this year. One for the amateurs, one for the pros. So you bet you need a short board for the Tight! Your suggestion because of the cone penality is fine with me. So we go along with the full-cone penality. Course setting will be made by the locals. The tight pro will be more challenging than last year.

See you soon!

[2004-07-15] Weekly Sales Prognosis update: Sales of the Airflow Jani Söderhäll S-Camber model will peak in the next few weeks, only to go even higher when the event is over.

Predictions from the bureau of PARIS - "Partial Airflow Reseach Institute of Skateboarding".
Great!

About the Jani S Cambers, I have only heard good things about them from JG and others and I was wondering if anyone going to Köln might have one I could buy off them? Thanks.

Because of all the S-camber hype, I just put together my old first generation Jani S-camber again.
I will try it asap when it stops to rain out here......

Dan, we need some 3DM rain Slalom wheels for Germany, UK, Switzerland.....

See you at the race!

Why not set up a special S-camber class. I think it's cheating going tight with an S-camber. That's easy. If you want tighter use a board with longer wheelbase and you will get your tight. I have never understood why people who like tight always go for smaller wheelbases. It actually works against their goal of tight racing... :)

Discovering Koeln???

Post by Vincent Berruchon » Thu Jul 29, 2004 6:29 pm

We're two french slalomers arriving from Paris in the Cologne train station at 18h49 tomorrow (friday 07/30)
We've got something like 2 hours before going to our hotel to meet Jani, so if one of you had time (or hints) to make us a little visit of the city and to eventually find something eat (german specialties???), or why not to skate, it would be great!

hmmm and does someone got an idea on how to go to the hotel from the station or city :
Etap-Hotel Köln West Marsdor, Toyota-Allee 40-42
Bus? Train? Taxi?
Thank you
See you this Week End ;)

I'm bringing these boards and also cones (50 cones for 50 E, orange or white Seismic cones). If you want cones better reserve now. I'll only bring a limited amount. Leaving Paris just after lunch tomorrow.

@Vincent:

The cologne Train station is right near the big kathedral "Kölner Dom".
This one is amazing. Right near the Dom you'll find the "Domplatte".
Thats a big hangout for BMX and Skaters.
I used to go to the "Domplatte" for about 15 years . Every day after school I met my friends for skating, frisbee playing, hacky sacking,...
Right near the "Domplatte" you will find the "Früh Brauhaus", Früh is a brewery for "Kölsch" Bier, and "Brauhaus" stands for restaurant . There you can get as much origin food as you want !!!
But be careful if the menu says "half chicken" !! In Cologne its just a roll with a slice of old amsterdam cheese and mostard. :-)
I hope you enjoy it !?!?
