I would suggest adding Vincent Berruchon, France.

I also think that there should be at least one Swede in the group. Extend it to five in total and you can still make it fair. It is normal that an event held in Sweden has at least 20% of Swedish influence. It should then be someone not (too much) involved in the organization. Maybe Henrik Madsen?

yes why not have five, although there is a german saying that "too many cooks destroy the meal"..............well, five is ok I think and why not have a swede in there........note all should be able to speak in one language, (for example english).

Yeah, Peter puts up the list an then lets get to work.....eh, vote

We have discussed this and have our view. There are reasons to everything so Ill put this as simple as possible. Even though we understand the world is not perfect.

Swedes do not get to vote, even more important, Swedes can not be in the representative group. Why??? Well the non-Swedes will be stronger and freer to criticize the event and stress the racers issues. We think the racers need a strong voice free of any Swedish influence, only then can the organizers and the representatives have an honest dialog.

Therefor NO Swedes can be representatives.

Why can’t we vote (Jani), well if Swedes vote they influence the choice of representatives, which can be misinterpreted at the end. If we going to have a completely free and independent group of representatives it most be free of Swedes.

I can’t understand why anyone would want us in the group, we are the congest of the world, we are simply a pain in the ass.

If no other claims the European Championships for 2005 until Saturday January 16 I propose we officially announce Stockholm. It's important for us as organizers to know. We want to get started contacting sponsors and it will help towards the local authorities. As Chris mentioned it's also good for the racers to know as soon as possible to be able to plan ahead and getting cheap tickets.

Stockholm has good communications with Ryan Air. These are current prices in SEK (Swedish crones). 100 SEK is right now 11 Euros so most prices are 22 Euros. Very cheap!

Düsseldorf(Weeze) 196
Brussels(Charleroi) 196
Milan (Bergamo) 199
Riga 196
Frankfurt (Hahn) 196
Rom (Ciampino) 209
Glasgow 196
London Stansted 196
Girona (Barcelona) 299
Hamburg (Lübeck) 196
Paris (Beauvais) 196
Shannon 299

Riga is a new destination for Ryan Air from Stockholm. Since they will have a competition the weekend before why not take a whole week off. Go to Riga first weekend then take som vacation days in Riga/Stockholm before the Euros in Stockholm Friday-Sunday.

Peter, how steep are the courses? Some comrades want to know...

Will 1.8m be used for women's class as well as for men's?

by Peter Klang
Privjet Vlad,

The Hill used for the Giant Slalom is steep enough. It curves almost 90 degres at one point.
The venue used for the tight and straight will be flater compare to Paris. When you go through the tight special slalom course you will be happy its not steep.

Straight slalom women will run the same course as the ams and juniors, 2.20 m. If riders want to tighten it up to 2.00 we will listend.

Great!

I'm asking this for Elena Sinodalova (who I'm sure will be bummed to hear about 5 meter parallel Sl and who would most likely want to compete in the men's Pro class @ 1.8 meters).

Foot-dragging or runout? (again, some concerned comrades from the flatland slalom country would like to know)

Bunches of thankses and DA, a few people have already marked this one as a MUST-ATTEND.

Posted: Thu Jan 20, 2005 10:42 am

Well,
I think Elena shouldn’t be bummed, 2.0-2.20 meter apart is still fast for this course. The start ramp will allow riders enough speed to slam, knock down cones and DQ. In the special slalom I hope nobody complains till they see the course, it will be tight.

The Competition will have three courses all different. It’s meant to be variation, not two- three similar courses. Therefor a straight (not so tight high-speed course), a tight (very tight and technical course) and a long big offset giant course (demands a totally different technique compared to the tight).

I think there is something for everyone at this race, not only slalom. The race on Saturday and Sunday is just outside Stockholm Skatepark. Bring all your board there is also a decent downhill course near by. Bring your shorts, there is water all around in Stockholm, bring your appetite, there is GREAT food in Stockholm.

A little point, Sweden is in fact NOT as expensive as France, Switzerland or the USA.

I would say, this was long and clear enough by Peter Klang and the Swedes. In our unorganized (somehow) situation, this was absolutely correct and well done in my opinion. I am really looking forward to the event.

Behind the Euro2005 homepage
- Main structure and layout: Corky
- Information: Peter Klang and Corky
- Registration section: Marcus Seyffarth
- Design: Henrik Madsen

Our designer Henrik had to work under very hard limitations and could not do exactly as he wanted but I think it turned out quite good. For our site development we used the slalom slogan: "Better fast than pretty!".

I think there is enough to read for most people. But more will come. Now, go register yourselves. ;-)

- Maximum limit of racers in total: 100
what is the limited number of racers good for?

Posted: Thu Feb 24, 2005 9:15 pm
by Hans Koraeus
It is to be able to give you more racing for your money. The more racers the less time for you to skate. Maybe 100 is too much... maybe we should lower it.

We plan for 25 pros, 50 ams, 5 girls and 5 juniors. That only makes 85. We will do some kind of Jam qualification. So the less racers we have the more runs we can do.

More detailed info about how the jam will be done later. There are some interesting variations to use. Finals are Head to head (except for the GS).

A couple of questions regarding the Euros:

Is this the right airport (as it appears on Ryanair): Stockholm S. Skavsta (NYO), and what time does the GS start on Friday 15th?

I'll be riding my bicycle over the Pyrenees earlier in the week (yeah fascinating) but am hoping to make it to Stockholm for a bit of skating if the body and wallet hold out.

By the way, crossbreeds are fine. Three's a team.

by Hans Koraeus
All Stockholm airports are just fine.

The biggest is Arlanda. Bus ca 45min, fast train - big bucks will get you to the central in 15 minutes.

Skavsta (south of Stockholm) and Västerås (north of Stockholm) are smaller airports. Bus 1.5 hours. These are Ryan Air airports. Paul Price got a ticket from London to Västerås last year for peanuts.

Current plan is we will start GS qualification at 11. If there are many Am's we might split the jam in two groups. One early and one a little bit later. If so the world ranking will decide the groups. Top Ams can sleep another hour, Lower placed Am group will go first. All just early ideas. Check out the euro 2005 site now and then.

The European site is well designed, but does take a while to check out on the computer available. Each window takes 4'00" to open. Each wrong turn means a minimum of 12'00" before fresh information is received. I thought that it might be best to do a direct posting request whilst simultaneously checking the site. Use the tools available. Due to work parameters I cannot afford to allow buffer time for transport errors and therefore like to get the relevant details ratified before committing.

Thanks Corky!

Kenny Mollica here. How's it hanging Euros? Robin and I are planning on coming to Stockholm for the race and are excited. I have had a lower back problem (damage disk) which I have been working hard at getting better. It feels better, so we are coming. No Latvia as we are not bringing our son Ryder and don't want to be gone more than 5 or 6 days.
We are 90% sure, but have not purchased plane tickets yet. I think I am going to see how the first three races go in San Diego (Pump station III), Athens, Georgia and Paris.

This back thing sucks and I might also, so cut me some slack. I may have seen my best days.

We are really pyched and will probably come no matter what. I just don't know when I will get the chance to check out one of the coolest places in Europe. Thats what they say.

It will suck if I can't get on the podium like the past two years, but not as bad as staying home. I need to hang with my Euro brothers and sisters and mid-july in Sweden sounds like the ticket.

I dont know what the voting is about, but please vote for me.

Peace, love and Donald Campbell

Kenny,

Sad about the back problems. Whether you can skate or not in Stockholm, don't worry, we will take care of you and Robin so that you both get a nice stay either way. Stockholm is a nice town.

Funny this thing about the site being so slow for Chris and Sam. Are there others having the same problem? What I understood from Chris it was slow at work but ok at home. All computers I have tested works fine. Would be nice to be able to figure out the problem. There are programs that can track the internet route and list the times between each node. That could be a first step. Anyone that knows something about this?
