From the Mercure Hotel (Karlsruher Strasse) after a short walk go to the Trainstation
"EICHSTRASSE". Line "1 - Langenhagen" or "2 - Alte Heide". (not "Laatzen" or "Rethen")
Image

Get out a the 6th station "FIEDELERSTRASSE"
Image

Cross the Street under the Bridge in Direction "McDonalds", you will see it ;)
Now you should be on the "WILMERSTRASSE" and go along a Car Dealer.
Turn on the next Street right (a very bad concrete) and go along the "HEUERSTRASSE"
If you go under a trainbridge again, you are on the correct way!
Turn left on the end and go along "RIEPESTRASSE". This walk only takes a few minutes
and on the end you should see the parkinglot from the "MASCHSEEBAD" in front of you.
Image

In case you missed the trainstation "FIEDELERSTRASSE", go out on "DÖHRENER TURM",
cross the street and walk along a small way through some trees ("VIERTHALERWEG"),
turn right on the end and the parkinglot from the "MASCHSEEBAD" should be in front of you.
You cant miss it :)

Edit: If you are 2 to 5 People, there is a special ticket for the Train "Tages Gruppen Ticket" , thats 7,20 Euro for the whole day !

Thanks Heiko, Dete and Mario. I'm arriving on Friday morning having made the booking before the race plans changed.

Even though I'm 'never drinking again' again, do take a quick look around the floor and edges of the hotel bar for remnants of the English. There might still be a Union Jack sock with life still in it.

Thanks Mario; appreciate the offer. I'm packing now, taxi arrives in a couple of hours time to get me to the airport. Reckon that a long and lazy siesta on arrival might be the best treatment for this piece of aching flesh. Feet up, sombrero down. Hasta manana.

... dete and the crew - i can only say the same like fred - nice event, nice food, nice drinks anyway, even if i liked the expo fest last year ... the idea with the miniramp was perfect !!!

it was really surprising to see how the slalomscene developed in the last two years especially in the OPEN CLASS - i mean the suisse guys ARE EXTREMELY FAST as always, the french guys come up but germany and especially the gangs from the ruhrgebiet/köln area and even the hannover guys are getting faster and faster ... puuuuuuuuuuuuuhh

Hannover had been Ramoned.

Ha ha! For sure Ramon! Anyone who can skate like that after a skinful either has to be hugely talented (unlikely) or the meandering progeny of an erring Steve Olson.

Here's another link:

Don't argue with Katrin. Here she blows an uphill breeze back into the face of Aeolus.

Cnut could only dream of such skills.

Less spectators than last year but less rain, too. There was a good all around service for the riders and even family members (big thanks!) with free food and liquid. A good deal for only 40 Euros! I just have to find somebody who likes the t-shirt.

The cone judging wasn't as good as I expected. Next time, Dete, you better give those guys their well deserved beer AFTER the race, not before.

Personally, I didn't like the trophies very much. Aki showed how to improve the design in an easy manner.

Thanks to all riders for even coming from far away.
I was happy being surounded by so many Pavel-Team-mates.

Thank you to Donald for making the Giant race possible by bringing the whole equipment all the way from D-dorf.
Bad luck the speed-rush of a real Giant race was blown away by the wind hauling up the hill. It made the course a lot slower than expected. Aerodynamics were the key.

Congrats to Donald, who deserved his third place in the Giant race more than anybody. He was racing good all weekend.

The Hannover World Cup was another great race in Gangland.

Now stay tuned for race no.2 of the Great Western Race Series in Octobre this year!

The road back home was so long (Hans didn't check which airport was his flight, so it was longer than expected to get to the other one far away North from D-dorf)
but we had a great week end in the city of Hanover!
A bit surprised by the flat spot at the begining, but the nice mini-ramp was good ;)
Good giant but too bad that we had so much wind!

But what about the skimboard contest?? My boardshort has stayed dry! ;)

Does anyone happen to have a picture of Ekaterina Khabelashvili with a Belarusian copy of a Bennett truck on the podium? I’m doing a write up for a couple of Russian and Belarusian sports magazines that would benefit tremendously from the podium pictures.

Thanks!

thank you for being here in hannover. it was a nice race for us. after all the trouble with the expo sommerfest and the fun sport days, we were happy, that our race was held. next year we don´t trust others. we will organize our own event.
be sure, we will find a good location (hopefully the expo area) and a new spot for giant slalom.

if you have pictures from the hannover race, please send us pictures and your name on cd and we will post your named gallerie on our website www.skateboardworldcup.com

see you next year in hannover????

the hannover world cup was in the local press, that means 150.000 readers see the article from our World Cup. It means, local sponsors get interested in the event. that means maybe we find a sponsor for next year. that means, we can organize a better race.

for skaters, it means.....nothing. what we have to do is, organizing not only races. we need to organize local sessions to bring new blood into the slalom sport.
after 2005 we found 5 new slalomers from Hannover that compete in the race 2006. it´s so small.

let´s see what we can do for 2007
