[2016] Swedish Championships, Stockholm

Post by Hans Koraeus » Sun Mar 13, 2016 3:23 pm

We have sent in an ISSA sanction form for PRIME status for Swedish Championships in Stockholm August 13 2016.

NOTE!
We have had a very tricky situation with this event being linked also to the Bank Slalom World Championship 2016.

Since the Bank Slalom World Championship in Stockholm (Aug 6) collides with the Slalom World Championships in Riga (Aug 5-7) the idea is to have two Steps for the Bank Slalom World Championships. First step Aug 6 during the big bowl and music event Bowlstock (http://www.bowlstock.se) and second step Aug 13 during the Swedish Slalom Championships.

This to allow slalom skaters attending the Slalom World Championship in Riga to also being able to attend the Bank Slalom World Championships.

To conform to the ISSA World Ranking you can only have 3 slalom disciplines counted into the World Ranking for an event. And you can't have two ISSA events at the same place at the same time (being the case with the Swedish Championships Aug 13 and the Bank Slalom World Championships Step 2 Aug 13.

So to solve this the Swedish Championships must include Bank Slalom as one of its Rank disciplines.
And the Bank Slalom result registered for the Swedish Championship will be counted as the Bank Slalom World Championship result.
And this result registered will also include results from the Bank Slalom World Championships Step 1 Aug 6.

To further complicate things the Bank Slalom World Championships will have two events in the ISSA Calendar for Step I and Step II.
They will have no ranking results registered as events normally have. Results will only show in articles.
Both individual results for Step I and Step II. And then the final results combining the two.
The final results combining the two for the World Ranking will be the registered result shown for the Swedish Championships.

There will be links and further info around this and all the event sites. Since it may be confusing.
And if there are further questions it can be handled here in this event forum.

More info for the events are found here...

No worries though, the fastest rider will still win!

Thanks Corky for making this event reality.

Is there any information on a racers' hotel? Race location etc. there are a few skaters travelling from the USA and would appreciate guidance on the Stockholm races 11-15 August 2016.

The location is easily reachable by metro: 20 minutes from the Central Station (T-Centralen to Högdalen on one of the green lines going south). So, if there's no common skaters hotel just look for any hotel along that line, or in central Stockholm.
