Newbie question on Cups and bushings

Post by Trystan Lambkin » Fri Dec 02, 2005 12:07 am

hello everyone!

just getting into this slalom business.... and have a couple of questions...

Can anyone tell me the performance difference between the Barrel and the Insert bushings? are the barrels better?

and how do the Pivot cups that come in the Bushing kits work exactly?

ie - do soft pivot cups help make a truck more turny? lol, should I even mess with the cups in my new RTS RTX's?

(BTW - will be running pretty tight cones, TS and want good turning capability on the front truck.)

please, and thanks for any helkp!!

hey hey

Most would say barrells are turnier than inserts, depending on duro and tightness and what it is that you personally like. Most use soft in front, med/hard in back.

The pivot cup is for replacing your thrashed one, pry it out. Graphite powder inside the cup helps its action. I think harder is turnier. Don't change your RTs if they're good.

Wedge angles are pretty important too, somewhere around +17deg front and -11deg back works for me with xx wheelbase.

Hi,

use blue Bones Harcore Bushings in the fronttruck, no replacement of the cup ...if its Tracker , its a good one !
And try to wedge 11° ....

result: a very turny truck

and if you want to spend some money....go for a radical or splitfire front truck ! :-)

I second Carsten : Bones SOFT on a RT-X truck ( top and bottom ) works great and it's a very cheap solution !
Podium or pavement... but PAVEL !

sweeet... sounds like I actualy have it set up pretty good.

I have the Khiro Bushing set, with the two sets of barrels and the one set of Insert. I slapped the white soft barrel up front and slapped the red Barrel in the back.

I single wedged the front with a thick rubber absorber as well. and I just left the back straight with the absorber and a hard riser. We'll see how that baby does before I tweek it up again....

and I'll leave the pivot cups alone.. lol

THANKS!!

On the picture: G*Truck bushings.

White Khiro (those w/out alu insert) and trimmed Radikal will fit too.
