I have never skated vert, and had never done a ramp start, so the ramp was totally intimidating for me. The first time I got up on the ramp I chickened out and had to climb back down. Very humiliating. But I managed to summon some courage from somewhere and tried it again, and after a bit of practice I was starting to push myself down the ramp with a bit of force. Easy really.
More fun than push starts.
