You had to be really, really devoted to see them (or at least 2 of them).

Thanks Gianluca and Gianmarco and your mates for the nice show!

Being there was probably important as the Chinese are wondering what new sport should be included in the summer games...

And the coverage of snowboarding here in France is quite good.

With the importance of skateboard-manufacturing in Chinese Economy, and some crazy American skaters jumping their great wall meant to protect them from foreign invasion and influence, we might see the snowboarding equivalent on concrete become more...CONCRETE.

Torino - Thank you!

Torino & all of Italy,

Thank you for some very nice games!

PS. Is there any chance to find some film or photos from the opening ceremony with skaters? Either by obtaining some original video from the camera teams or photos from official photographers. Gianluca, can you hunt some down. It would be nice to have something!

Winter Olympics Open Ceremony: Torino 206 Skate live on TV

Post by Gints Gailitis » Mon Mar 20, 2006 6:28 pm

I agree - the opening ceremony was really great with slalomers from Italy. I hope people saw the closing ceremony with Aerodium show. There were guys from Latvia. And if anybody would like to try Aerodium - you are welcome! We are planning to include it in European slalom championship "culture" program, if anybody has an interest.

Olympic souvenirs

Post by Jani Soderhall » Fri Mar 24, 2006 10:19 pm

Here's a collection of souvenir photos that I have received from Gianluca.

Maybe I should remind you that Gianluca is the president of the Italian Skateboard Federation which is part of the Italian Olympic organisation. Apparently they treat their officials well. Gianluca is a strong promoter of slalom skateboarding and if it wasn't for him there may not have been any slalom at the opening ceremony. In the years to come he'll be working on getting slalom skateboarding into the Olympics.

Apparently they have an unlimited budget for cars for the officials and apparently Gianluca was fully taking advantage of it.
