Two out of three Farmers prefer a 2-day event over other formats. Especially when Saturday is on Shady lane and Sunday is on Derby hill.

Is the one-day format someone's insurance of not being smoked two days in a row? :0
Wes, I have learned not to question the gods. But since you are a god too, you have the right.

And yes, the one day event is MY insurance policy that I won't get smoked 2 days in a row--even though I voted for the 2 day event. You know how hard it is for a 27 yr old man to get beat by kids just entering puberty?
2 days of that is enough to make anyone quit slalom and take up lawn mower racing.

Oh man, I may just race on my park setup to give you pussies a shot in hell at the farm. If I see any of you posers ahead of me at the race you're getting tackled at the finish line. I'm all outfitted with TK's old shit that he broke and glued back together to sell to me, so I'm all set to go. Thanks buddy!

Who are you calling a poser, punk!

Please don't tackle me.

Oh, wait...I'm safe because most likely I'll be finishing after you anyway.

So...maybe I should tackle you. Yeah, did you ever think about that??? huh, did ya?

Wes, if it makes you feel any better, the Town of Bethel is giving us a trial run this year and if all goes well, we will run a 2 day event next year, just for you. I will miss Shady Lane with a passion but the bottom line is, it's just too small for 40-50 racers and with kids running all over the place on a narrow road...it's too damn dangerous. Please feel free to organize a race of your own and make it a week long camp if you want but until then, sign up for the farm and come party. It will not be the same without your presents/company.

I wish I were 15 years old and could skate everyday.

Jim, I am glad to hear you'll be there...tired or not.

I am with you, the weasel is wicked fast (see I used some Masshole dialect there). And I too wish that I was 15 and could skate all of the time.

Get your kid started early, Jim. A skateboard mobile above the crib, a BASS board converted into a small baby table. Hell, BASS board stickers on the diapers. Polyurethane won't flake in a baby's mouth right? Give the kid an Avalon to chew on. Burn it in the brain man and by the time your rugrat is 15 s/he'll make Weasel look like an amateur.

Yeah, thats the ticket, if you can't beat them, create some offspring that will in 15 years! Who's got some ideas on how to get your baby stoked on slalom? TK how's Colin coming in his slalom training?

There are a growing number of slalom enthusiasts who are waiting with muted anticipation to participate in WesE's slalom race. They ponder at length at how magnificently organized, competitive, sponsored, well-funded and dynamic such an event will be.

Let us all join together in pledging our support and attendance when WesE finally puts on a race and show's us all how it's really done.

Can we get a roll-call response here on the Dark Side of everyone who would drop everything to travel and find out how WesE would do it so much better than everyone else who volunteers their time and effort to this sport we love so much? How many racers can WesE expect to show up at HIS race?

What are you, a freaking meteorologist now???

How do you know it's going to rain both days?

You are a man of many talents, John, but don't start throwing......wait....I see what you are doing. If you can get enough people to not come becasue they think it might rain, then a podium spot might be attainable for weasel.

It's a conspiracy!!!!

Someone will get you my pretty, and your little weasel too!!

Ahh, so it's all about John! You live with the Weasel and yet he gets no love from the Silver Fox.

The Weasel has learned it all for himself. A sort of "Special Education" for him- as he expected me to teach him everything about slalom. I haven't taught him a thing. Hey John, Watch this.... Huh? Oopps missed it. "Watch this run John". I have to go inside the mosquitoes are biting- I'll see your runs tomorrow. and so it goes.

I thought..the kid is plenty bright enough to figure all the wheels and truck options for himself. I'll only say something if a set up is "stupid/ridiculous/dangerous" (-must qualify for all three). Otherwise he learns it from trial and error. Most of his hardware is worn out from constant assembly and disassembly. It would be no fun if I told him what works. At least- no fun for me...lol. So what he learns is his knowledge.

As for coaching.
He taught himself how to pump. He sets his own courses without my input- and they are some of the better courses I have run. Besides I was flat on my back with the busted legs when the kid decided to learn this stuff.

So the word is- if you want to get good at slalom........all by yourself....with virtually ZERO input....it is possible. And infact, Likely, if you are willing to put together about 20 different combinations of boards and look carefully at the courses online. Funny that we have young slalom hermits. Riding alone- figuring it out in a vaccuum, making their own kid pockets of slalom.

You don't have to be a highschool graduate, or have straight A's- Weasel has none of that (Only 8am summer school now detracts from his slalom). You just have to like slalom/racing/competition and feel you can do it if you put your mind to it. But from what I found out....probably the thing that helped him the most....was trying to teach slalom to Newbies... He would have to test his theories out before telling them to his students...and so he learned a lot about what works and what really doesn't work,.....through teaching.

Really for him...it was just making sure he had a few kids he could be certain he could kick their butts at slalom and not have to do all the set up work as a result.

So I hope there are a few other kids who are gearing up to test their racing skills against unknown strangers- most of the kids have AOL IM so they share info readily amongst themselves- perhaps their greatest weapon to eventually beat the adults at their own game.

Screw that.....they'll never beat us.

Bobo shot in Florida - Take him off the farm list

AP July 14th 1 hour 46 minutes ago

He told ABC's "Good Morning America" on Wednesday that wildlife officials had told him they wouldn't try to capture Bobo until later Tuesday evening, so he went to take a shower. He said he was coming back to rejoin the search when he heard five shots and "my heart sank," knowing he hadn't protected Bobo.

He will be missed.

WT,

Brewington is my new slalom nemesis - he's only number 32 in the world because I had to leave Breck TS early to catch my flight, so he squeaked in to the bracket.

Of course, being 33 isn't bad, just ask Rolling Rock.

66, you bastard,

It's important to have low expectations. That way you're rarely disappointed in life.

By the by, last weekend was The Hood, next weekend is La Costa. Anyone down around your way up for Exit 46 this weekend? It's gonna be a scorcher Saturday and Sunday, but I think I can probably tough it out for at least an hour or two?

Let me know.

Ahhh.... again Tksan you are correct. The power of the DVD is strong. Look at what video did for vert skating. All most of the slalomers before him had were a few shots of slalom in old movies and still ohotos of slalom in skateboarder mag, coupled with course descriptions that were probably not all that accurate. As for having the gear, I'm not all that sure that todays modern gear is as easy to initally learn how to pump on...but no doubt the gear available now is much easier to ride at a high level than the gear of yesteryear.

The Wyoming Weasel will by flying into Breck from Wyoming where he will be training herding sheep until the race without skateboarding but will miss LC.

Yeah, but I'm feeling much better now....................and always faster than you, ya young whipper-snapper. Oops, maybe I should have posted that in the dark side thread. Why don't you just drive up to Gaithersburg on the 24th and we'll see who's slower.

Big commotion at the La Costa race this past weekend. Opinions from many, many skaters who didn't see it, some from skaters who weren't there and even one from someone who neither races, skateboards or has any clue about anything related to slalom skateboarding.

All that's left now is for Dave Gale to explain how much better it would have been if only the fight was in the rain!

I simply stated taht I have naked pictures of you, Joe. Well, not all naked. And your shirt covers half your butt anyway. So, what are you worried about.

In all fairness, I guess you're right. I did kind of start it. So, Joe as an apology, that picture will be...hidden, never to be seen by anyone. You need not keep yourself up at night worrying that some teenage girl in Bulgaria, or some big Bubba in a maximum security penetentary are getting off on your bare butt posted somewhere on the internet.

Consider the picture destroyed, unless....you want me to send you a copy of it. You sort of have this look on your face like you were about to fart.

Have a great day.

Is there a farting theme?
