Insurance

Post by Miles Sims » Fri Mar 18, 2005 6:17 pm

Hello,

trying to get some info on event insurance. Our company wants to sponsor a local slalom series that runs during the summer. I've talked to a few people that are open to letting us use their facility but are asking for liability coverage.

I am familiar w/this type of policy but wanted to know if there was a company that anyone could reccomend we talk to that is familiar w/slalom. Any info/help would be great!

Thanks,
Miles

Miles for the PocketPistolSkates Outlaw Shoot Out and The Texas Cold Fusion Sizzler that was held down here in the Rio Grande Valley we also used K+K insurance. The phone # is 1-800-426-2889, I believe Nick Pintos is the Texas agent you want to ask for. Please let the Texas Outlaws know about your event. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws.

K&K is NOT insuring skateboard events this year.

Anybody with any suggestions, please contact me ASAP - 706.338.3304

Thanks.

*This will NOT interfere with this years Red Clay Cup - the event is under the umbrella (and insurance) of Twilight................however I was hoping to make the Friday GS a legitimate permitted event rather than an "outlaw" event, but as those who were there last year can attest - the police drove through our "outlaw" race last year and had no problem with it

Rick's right, I contacted K&K just yesterday about renewing my coverage for Luna and was told they no longer cover skateboarding. I thought the 70's were over...

Interesting that it worked out for Eddy. Eddy, shout at me please.

Looking for another avenue. If anyone comes up with anything please contact me.

Skateboard Race Insurance Sources

Post by Wesley Tucker » Wed Mar 23, 2005 8:28 pm

I just did a google for "+sports+event+skateboard+insurance" and got back www.sportsinsurance.com. I couldn't find anywhere on the site any disclaimer of events NOT covered. A rather lengthy questionnaire, though, under "special events" is used in order to generate a quote for a one-time premium.

I'm not a promoter and didn't go through the motions, but it looked promising to me. Also, never forget Lloyd's of London. Yes, they will insure a skateboard race. Just about any independent insurance agent could get a quote, write a policy and take your money for Lloyds.

Of course, nothing in the above in any way reflects on COSTS. I have no clue if it's affordable or not. But at least that's better than no source at all.
