Rick,

I hope you are not going to close the voting yet. It would be interesting to carry on for a little bit more time, or what do you think? 42 voters in total so far. I could do with a few more votes...

Jani,

I set the poll to "automatically" close after the first, I have no objections to the vote being extended, but........

....I imagine you or Adam are able to check the servers stats on visitors to slalomskateboarder.com - can we really expect more votes? After all, 50% of the total posts are by less than 10% of the registered members.....

I noticed that Luca was registered here but has never posted, does that make him eligible? I just wondered if he registered here or if somebody else did for him with out his knowledge.

Luca registered himself just before the European championships and the worlds in Morro Bay. That's one of the few things that seems to drag Luca out on the web. He's not much of a web surfer. Already that Luca finally got himself an e-mail address was a miracle.

I would like to see the voting run a bit longer too.

The voting of this poll only reflects the registered membership.

The "web site" however, the statistics are outstanding for this site and do not in anyway reflect the 300+ registered users.

Adam,

Now when you mention it, it would be interesting to know something about the statistics in 2003 for SS.com. Is that easily done?

Rick asked me to extend the voting time. Voting is now open until January 31st.

If you haven't cast your vote yet please do so!

Yes I registered myself. Sorry but I'm an awful internet user. But now it would be better because I have an internet connection at home! My second problem is my bad English and many time I'm not understand very well the discussion. Any way thanks to everybody for voting me. ciao

I shamelessly voted for myself- I think presidents do that also when they are in the running. But If I couldn't be a screwball and vote for myself I'd have to cast my vote for the guy who has pushed to get Europe woken up this year, Jani Soderhall. If history should repeat itself 20 years from now, People will still be slaloming in Europe wondering if the USA slalom scene will wake up again- thanks Jani.

VOTE!

The only guys who were faster...

In my opinion, one of the following guys deserves the title slalomskateboarder of the year 2003. It's either Tay Hunt, Kenny Mollica, Barrett "Chicken" Deck, Richie Carrasco or Maurus Strobel for being the only guys who have beaten Luca Giammarco last year, or it's Luca himself!

Martin,

Luca was only beaten by:
- Maurus Strobel, special- and giant slalom, Antibes, France
- Tay Hunt, slalom cross, Morro Bay, USA
- Kenny Mollica, slalom, Morro Bay, USA

Chicken and Richie are fast guys too, but this year they didn't beat him. (hmm, maybe Chicken or Richie did in practice, but that doesn't count).

...or is my information incorrect?

Having a quick look at the extraordinary :) topic 2003 Contest results you will see that Luca "only" took 4.th place in the slalom discipline at Morro Bay. So, Chicken and Richie made it alright.

Oops, my mistake...

Thank's for correcting me. Chicken and Richie deserves to be right up their with the others!

...and it makes this coming season even more interesting!

Those who agrees with Martin must be disapointed with the poll list. Only one of the 4 guys beating Luca is in there. Richie Carrasco.

There was no attempt, deliberate or otherwise, to slight anyone. This is the SlalomSkateboarder.com Slalom Skateboarder of the year, intended to honor a member of our online community.

The award doesn't necessarily need to go to the "fastest", or the one with the most podium finishes. I think the current vote totals reflect that fact (the strong showings by Jack and Wes).

So Luca is the winner then? Or? Yes? No?

Who knows

I'm gonna go out on a limb...I'm voting for myself!

I ran gatherings every Tuesday and thursday, I ran a 6... or wait was it 7 race series, I did alot for slalom over the past year or two... : )

all kidding aside, I can't pick one person so I won't vote.

I think anyone that that promoted the sport, taught someone to ride and just has fun in life should be the winner.
