My turn to bag on Vlad

Post by Chris Chaput » Mon Oct 20, 2003 2:44 am

I have always thought that the little avatar of Vlad's showed an impressive style and attack. It kind of reminds me of some classic euro pics. Vlad had posted the original picture in the Hybrid forum and talked about his girlfriend getting him a new camera.

That's when I noticed it.

Apparantly someone didn't like how "coneless" the picture looked when it was cropped into its new portrait orientation and decided to "enhance" the image a bit. Now Vlad, we know that you like the tight stuff but adding two cones between the original course settings is a bit much!

The cone in the middle was cropped out of the original

Wow, with super sharp eyes and recall like you've just displayed Chris, you would have thought you'd have noticed in your new rear page Concrete Wave ad that the new deck you've announced is called the 36" "TRIPDOD".

Mind you, you did spell "Big" "Soft" and "Wheels" correctly which is a good thing.

As always my tongue is firmly in my cheek.

Michael's Tongue

Post by Chris Chaput » Mon Oct 20, 2003 6:15 pm

It's good to hear that your tongue is back in your own cheeks. We were starting to worry about you.

You missed the other typo "stabilty" on that page. We had to change the ad from our original design that was a bit too risque for CW. In the process, yours truly didn't bother with a spell check or a proofer. Oops.

Life, the universe and everything

Post by Michael Stride » Tue Oct 21, 2003 10:39 am

Thanks Troy. Actually my 'life' is skateboarding. Its how I make my living, much like Chaput in that regard. I took CC's post as a harmless ribbing towards Vlad, and as such deserves to be slapped down, mildly, after all CC would probably expect it.
"Get a Life" is a good dampner on any discussion or conversation, or banter.
Any way, back to my sad miserable 'life' selling skateboards and trying to deal in business like fashion with guys who plummet down hills at 60mph, like CC. Or I could be getting on the train everyday to a dingy office in town working for a corporation...nope, I'll stick with the life I've got thanks.

The internet is a funny place, what I thought of as a joke by CC could be taken as an insult by Vlad, but I don't think thats the case. Correct me if I'm wrong. Or maybe your post was meant to be ironic/funny/etc?

Got Life?

Post by Chris Chaput » Tue Oct 21, 2003 8:07 pm

I took it to mean "You know that you have waaaay too much time on your hands when you're scrutinizing the cone positions in other people's avatars..."

Either that or he thought that I was serious about bagging on Vlad in which case he, himself, needs to get a life.

I never would have believed anyone who told me that "life begins after forty" but at 42 1/2, this "after-life" has been pretty good so far.

The only way to insult Vlad is to say he drinks Budweiser and hangs out with dimwitted, pudgy, SoCal skaters with personality disorders.

Yeah-yeah, Chris, try harder! I am not the only one here who knows that you have this thing...IQ. No matter what you do, you just can't hide it! Others try to do the opposite, and it's obvious.
In addition, Chech Bud is ok. Really.

I came to this website to get away from the constant bagging and baiting on people elsewhere, now I see the same thing going on here.

Welcome to our forum Ted. There is no constant bagging and baiting on people on this forum. For those of us used to this forum it's almost refreshing to see it sometimes. In small doses I find it funny. And I can asure you the guys above thinks the same. Except for Vlad maybe that can take it in large doses as well.

Hi. I’ve registered here in August. It took me almost two months to realize what is going on here. This darn forum is no better then the other site. I suggest renaming this thread Dark Side II.

A little about myself to see where I’m coming from.
I’m originally from ElPaso, CA. Discharged from the US Army.

Now, on a personal note, there is a big difference between baiting, insulting and kidding. Despite the same ending in these three very different words.

I think Mr. Trahan should go through all the originals submitted for avatars and send them to Mr. Chaput for a closer more professional look. After Mr. Chaput finds any discrepancies in the originals, he should submit a list of “phonies” to Mr. Trahan, who, in turn, should put a two-hour to two-day ban on those who enhanced/edited their pictures for the avatars. Find rats and eradicate them! I can start by putting a 2-hour ban on myself, which I promise to execute in 6 20-minute increments throughout the day. Amen.

We're not in the dark side?

Post by Chris Chaput » Wed Oct 22, 2003 4:39 pm

If you look at the history of this topic "My turn to bag on Vlad", it was supposed to be the title of a post in "The Dark Side of the Cone" where anything goes.

Anyone who thinks that there is anything's serious going on in this thread should probably go to another site and anonymously post a diatribe about it.

Ted's post is funny.

Chaput's post is funny.

Vlad's post is funny.

Han's post is funny.

Strides' post is funny.

Troy's post is funny.

Rick's post is funny

...and so is Slappy's.

Out of all of these, I think Ted is the winner.

NOT funny!!!

Post by Slappy Maxwell » Thu Oct 23, 2003 5:53 am

Who is Ted Clement???

Have you ever been funny before???

I've been funny with all these guys since quite a bit back in the 70's. I called them all up and told them to get back out and get funny. And now they are ALL still funnyer than you will ever be!!!

Except Chaput...you were never funny. The green thing isn't funny. ABEC 11 isn't funny. It doesn't make sence. They AREN'T really ABEC 11!!!

FACT!!!

ABEC ratings doesn't EVEN go to 11!

Chaput-How many people do you know that got kicked out of the 2 funny orginazations that put on the Carrot Top Comedy Classic and the Bob Hope Roast of Don Knotts? I can only think of one and that would be you. How many funnyers refused to be funny with you because you were a dangerous out of control begineer and that is why you were never allowed to go pro at the Improv.

FACT!!!

Chaput WASN'T funny enough to be on the California Governer's Ballot!!!

Chris why don’t you call up Ted and you both can watch the funny parade pass you by together, Everybody wave to Chris and Ted as we go past them. Don’t they look sad sitting by themselves with a tear in their eyes wishing they could only be a part of which we all have been enjoying of late.

Thing is you got people that only talk the talk but cant walk it.

I'm just trying to teach walking lessons here.

I'll be back to keep it REEL. Gilmour and Vlad are next! Vlad? Who is Vlad???Don't get me started on the whole gay thing...it's NOT funny and has NO part of CORE funny people.

OMG!!! I've been away for a few days (new job, again, woohoo!), and I don't think I've laughed this hard in a long time.

This and the other 'Avatar' topic are truly amusing. This is better than The Dark Side, by a long shot.

Bravo, Slappy. I'm still shedding a tear over the last time I read a post that was something like that.

...and while we're bagging on people, could we puh-leeeeze discuss Chaput's propensity for hat wearing?

Okay Mr. FullHeadOfHair, that was both the begining AND the end of the Chapuhat jokes. Tag! Mollica's it!

What I'd like to know is why you didn't use your aerosol deodorant before coming to the Gathering. As we can see in your avatar, applying it while riding may be clean, but it's not fast.

Probably be better for me to avoid any bagging on people who probably already would rather see me dead. In all seriousness, I think I'll just continue to abuse my friends. Besides, Mr. Chapeau, you're such an easy mark. I'll even give you permission to attack my tendancy toward severe, pre-race injury at the most important races. Too late, I guess I just did it myself.

My turn to bag

Post by Vlad Popov » Fri Oct 24, 2003 10:14 pm

So, I picked up this Concrete Wave mag, which I thought was "100% longboarding" at first, based on the cover and all, and saw this really hot dude smo-oh-kin' on his speedboard in his whitish leathery suit and a hero green helmet somewhere on the farm (haybales in the background is a good clue). The guy was pictured right in the core of this green wheel called NoSchools. I called that company and ordered 96mm NoSchools in 98A durometer (as pictured in the ad). Mounted them on my speedboard, and you know what? They aren't very good downhill wheels!!! I think the guy in the ad is using some other green wheels and his "hero" image is used as advertisement! Such a deception!

Finally. Reel picture. Reel people. Reel beer. NoVa SSSSS is as reel as it gets! No begineers here! SSSSS= Super Secret Slalom Session Spot at Manassas, VA, USA, right behind the rest stop by rt 234. Watch out SoCal SSS, NoVa SSSSS is growing beer bellies to keep up with slalom competition!

Chris,
we did some board testing today and I remembered you.

Despite their “digital” appearance all cones are real, and none of the cones ended up being hit or inside of me.

Sorry we missed you in LA not long ago.

Nice Slappy work, Mr. Chaput. I thought you'd like the shot, because from my recent progects at the Federal Highway Administration Visibiliy Lab I knew the effects of fluorescence in the blue spectrum. The cones look unreal even in jpeg format for the same reason the new fluorescent road signs look unreal in the evening hours.

The 32'' Insect can be pushed like no other longboard. It's snappy yet damp. Baltic birch works very well. Wedging depends on the slope. P&R seems flat, and no drastic wedging/dewedging is needed. The Insect comes to life at 20 MPH.

I don't know about the 1970s, but in the 1980s Vlad dated this girl from some model agency. I heard she quit skating prior to signing her contracts (liability issues, you see).

Vlad's lucky to have Victoria. She's a keeper.

Vlad's about to be lucky again. I've got some wheels coming out in about 4 weeks that out-stick anything you've ever tried. They have a very predictable and controlled slide and should be perfect for that Insect of yours.

As I was making my eggs and bacon this morning after working long hours as a part-time dancer at a downtown DC bar last night , and the birds drunken from eating too many of the recently emerged cycads were knocking on my kitchen window and asking for something to drink, I was thinking the same thing.
