So when are we gonna see the website up, and more of the new boards? I plan on ordering a deck soon, and I want to check out Everything...

I agree, the Site has been down too long by now.

If the website is still in the development stage, then one feature that might be included would be the capacity to overlay the line-drawings of each deck with another. If the front truck mounting point was used as a centre marker, then a potential customer could compare and contrast foot spacing distances and areas with those with which they are already familiar. This facility would help with deck selection especially where a specific is required such as even width or wide tail for example.

That is a great idea. We built "Trading Cards" of each deck and it would be easy to do something similar to what you suggested with the artwork that we developed for the Cards. The Trading Cards can be seen on this site under each of the 2003 board names. It would be relatively easy to overlay all of the shapes on one graphic. Maybe using different color line art for each deck.

We are working on getting the web site back up and running. However, my HTML skills and lack of time have been a huge hindrance in rebuilding the site. After the “Worlds”, I hope to have some time and some help in getting the site back up and running.

That is cool.

Another helpful way of looking at it might be just an outline of the top deck surfaces altogether as an overlay but color coded (i.e. unlimited outlined in red, bottlerocket outlined in green, crossfire in blue, etc)

In addition, would it be possible to include details of the typical recommended wheelbase for each deck? For example, There are little clues as to the design purpose between the Holl 31" and the Bullet. Both look good, but would one be better suited to 'hybrid' or short-spaced GS than another? ...and which shape was designed by a rider of what weight, age and skating-style? Umm... that might be Too Much Information, but it all helps in the decision making process, especially given the style departure of the current Hollein Signature decks.

Hi Sam, I agree that would all be great info...for now here are the specs to my 31" board:
The overall length is 31".
The width is 8.75".
The camber height is 3/8.
The wheelbase is 20.75 (measured inner hole to inner hole).
Flex ranges: Medium 120-160lbs. Rider weight.
Medium Stiff 160-190
Stiff 190-220lbs
Extra Stiff over 220 lbs.

I use a Stiff or Extra Stiff, I weigh in at 185, I'm 6" tall and my background includes 27 years of skateboarding.....street, flatland (freestyle), vert, pools and yes of course slalom.

I'm 190 and ride the Crossfire(mini bullet) in a stiff lay up. The board works best in flat to Low pitch courses that are anywhere from 5 foot on center with slight offset to 6 and 7 on center with a foot of offset. Also works very well in steep pitch ts and hybred so long as there are no crazy offsets. This is a deck you can power into and get mad acceleration. For more Offset courses go with an S camber if its tight and big offsets or a med flex Unlimited or holl so you can flex the tail and bring it around. This is what I should have ridden Sat in Morro Bay. For Boarder X the Holl34 is nice and I ride that in a stiff/x Stiff lay up. This deck could also be ridden on a hybred course but I would go down to a med flex. TK

Hi all,
I'm looking at two Roe PS decks, the Unlimited and the Crossfire. All the online vendors that I was able to find listed the flex as "MED/STIFF" or "ONE FLEX".
Now, being a bigger guy, I'd like these decks as stiff as possible.
Do I need to contact Gareth directly?
Can the vendors help?
How stiff do I need?
If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

I have a PS Unlimited and after 2 months I'm still in love with this deck! I'm generally pretty fickle.
I hover around 195lbs and have found this deck in the Med/Stiff to really eat up offsets in hybrid TS set on moderate slopes. It works quite well at
cyberslalom also, I've dug a few lucky 9 second runs out of it. this maybe where a Crossfire should take over at anything tighter.
I run it with Siesmics and 80a Avalons.
The fuller shape affords alot of stance options also. I think it"s one of those "if you can only have 1" kind of boards.
I patronized Asphalt Playground for the deck and ToyandSport
for everything else. Great service from both!

Dan, I can try and help you on the decks. I've been helping Palo Alto Sport Shop, http://www.toyandsport.com/slalom.html , by answering questions on various decks for their customers. The PS Crossfire feels comfortable in a med/stiff when I've tried them and I'm around 185.

Dan how much do you weigh? What type of courses do you want the deck for? Are you a pumper or a steerer?

The unlimited is to replace my Turner GS/H for an "all around" deck.
The Crossfire will be for TS.
I got a Chicken wing recently and really like the fuller shape.

I thought I was a pumper, but after seeing some really awesome racers, I don't know

Hey Dan, I'll give you my 2 cents and TK can add to it.

With your size I think the unlimited is a great board, get it in stiff. I think PA Sport has one. I used to ride the turner GS/H for everything and when I switched to the fuller Unlimited I couldn't believe the difference in terms of acceleration and control. This will be a great all around board.

The Crossfire will make a great TS board. I haven't spent much time one one perhaps TK can comment. You'll want this in stiff or maybe even the extra stiff.

Dan, get a PS Unlimited in a stiff flex if you want it for a ts deck. For hybrid or GS go with the stock flex.
The X Fire is a winner. Everyone who has one loves it. Roes tend to run stiffer in flex than most brands so a med is really like a med stiff.

I have the x fire and its a really good functional ts shape. Raced it at the worlds and it was perfect. Get a pair. You can buy 2 PS decks for the price of one Foam. TK

JG was wondering if there was a more narrow S camber than the two we had out today. There is . The Cut away tail model is more narrow than the fuller shaped cross fires. TK

Yes. The Cutaway shape is narrower than the Crossfire. Here are the specs:

Crossfire - 28" x 8.25"

Cutaway - 28" x 7.75"

The "cut-away" of the Cutaway begins at 17" back from the nose and tapers back to 5.5" at the center of the rear truck (roughly).

I agree with whoever it was who said to get an Unlimited and a X fire. I got an Unlimited prototype which had been made for UR13, super stiff, very low camber, and drilled at like 17.5" to work w/ PVD R2s. It is EVERYTHING I've been looking for. I can push as hard as I can without fear of the chirp that becomes a huge gnarly hipper. The grip is beyond belief. The combination of the PVDs and this deck telegraph every nuance of the pavement like a perfectly set-up race bike. I can run harder, narrower wheels fearlessly.
The Crossfire is one of the red prototypes Gareth was selling on the cheap last winter. I rode it w/ PVDs 'til I got the Unlimited. Now it's set up with an RTX front and TTC rear, both with 8mm axles and longer kingpins. Various Tracker bushings, usually cut Stimulators and soft or medium conicals. Cambrias or Avalons.
At this point I'm in the enviable position of having 2 setups that are so flexible and ridable that I can look at the hill and be really close to optimal with just bushing and wheel choice, and I haven't had a truck off in months.
