1. Introduction

Here you will find general information around the ISSA Photo Library.

New image library!
We are just starting this up so except some time before we land in best practices around this.

General points

• All are free to make attachment of images.
• Please post them in the appropriate topic.
• If you are missing a topic contact ISSA Photo Supervisor.
• Please make a post in this topic if you have any good ideas or questions.

For a nice scrolling experience
The photo library forum has default topics to group pictures. Inside them there are simple posts showing the pictures. It is made this way to easily scroll through images.

Please add additional information if you have any. But...
Only put one image showing of the same photo. So, only use the "Place inline" button once for each different photo. That button is used to show the actual picture from the attachment to show in your post. The other possible image attachments, with different size formats of the same image, is enough showing only the links.

Also, let us try to have the same width of the pictures showing. It will make the scrolling more comfortable. Let us use the standard 550 pixel width. It's big enough to have a good look and small enough not taking up more space than needed.

Reminder for scrolling experience.
Only show one of your images (550 pixel width) if attaching multiple size formats of a picture.

2. Name and format conventions of images

• Original format: myimage_org.jpg (if bigger than ISSA default format).
• Default format: myimage.jpg (Landscape width: ca 1000px. Portrait width ca 600px).
• Standard format: myimage_w550.jpg
• Small format: myimage_w280.jpg
• Thump format: myimage_tmb.jpg (height 100px)
   
• Resolution 72 pixel per inch. Our images are for web use only. For quality printing contact copyright owner.

Original format (sizes bigger than 1000pxis optional is seldom needed for website use and just makes it slow. So please, if you have the image editing skills, add all the other image formats while you're at it. It helps all who want to use the image. And less work for using the best format for the best user experience.

3. How to attach images

1. Add a post to to one of the existing image topics.
2. Change the "Subject text" (short text to explain images in the post)
3. Use the Attachments tab at the bottom of the text edit field.
4. Use the Place inline to add the (w550) photo in the edit field. This will show the photo in your post.
5. You can attach multiple images in your post.
6. If you add multiple variations of a photo, please don't use "Place inline" on all of them. It's enough with showing one of them. The rest will then become normal attachment links at the end of the post.

The template is for an image post having 4 different size attachments (thumb, 280px, 550px, 800px).

Note! Once you select + copy this text, and have pasted it in your new post.
Take away the space in "[ code]" and "[ /code]".

Shows links to all attached images that opens upp the images so you can have a look at them if you want.
Then shows the "URL" for each of the images that you can copy easily.

4. How to use images

The idea is attaching images here in one place and then easily be able to re-use it in this forum, on our websites and social media.
When you attach an image "inline" in your post you automatically get a small information text under it.
You may even add your own default image text using the Attachment edit field for that purpose.

But once the image is used you will only get the image. And your will have to create your own image text if wanting one. You can of course then copy the default image text if any.

You get the id for the image (Here 860 as shown in the link above) by looking at the source of the picture.
Right click the image below for example and select Copy image address.



You can paste the link in a Facebook post.

5. Scroll image gallery

Scroll gallery = size. Size can be: size (auto), tmb (thumbs), small, medium, large.
