Important announcement: pending 2012 EU status applications

Dear skaters & organizers,
It seems that 2012 is going to be a great year for slalom racing. We have record number of races in Europe, which given the economic uncertainties, is a clear sign that this sport is well alive and kicking. Congrats to all!
But with such abundance of request for race status, comes –sadly- the need for us EU Marshalls to do some prioritization.
As you know, slalom ranking rules set a maximum of “slots” for Major, Main and Prime statuses in each continent to make sure there is a fair ranking. Right now we have run out of Major and Main slots and have 7 candidates (only 1 already formalized with a submitted Sanction Application) for just 4 slots left. So we have to prioritize. The criteria and the process will be the following:
- Prime status already awarded will not be reconsidered
- Decisions for left Prime request will only be made based on submitted application forms.
- Applications must be first be cleared with the National Coordinator (NC) and be submitted to EU Marshalls at least two months in advance of the date of the race. No application will be considered for Prime status without a formal backing of the corresponding NC.
- Provided “Prime” criteria is met, first “Prime” applications in a given country will have the highest rating, then second “Prime” applications, and so on. Within each of those “buckets”, status will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.
- Given amount of applications not yet formalized, there will be a first extraordinary deadline for submission of applications by EOD June 10th. Prime status will be awarded soon after based on the criteria above.
- If still there are still slots left, then there will be a second extraordinary deadline by EOD July 8th.
- If slots are still left after that (very unlikely), then decisions will be made on a pure first come / first served basis.
Thanks for your understanding
