Course Poachers!

Post by Richy Carrasco » Sat Aug 27, 2011 12:00 am

Really get tired of watching course poachers make run after run at the races when they are not supposed to be out there in the first place! everyone should be ready to go after a quick warmup and Qual 2 runs! I think these racers who are warned beforehand should get possible added time to all their runs for that day! Cone Poaching makes for a longer day for all of us!

I'm not travelling anywhere for two practice runs. (And I won't poach extra ones either).

Set the course the day before.

Use a local, a foreigner and someone who is respected to set the course together.

Keep the course open for a fixed time period. One hour would be nice.

Get in line.

Put the cones back as you walk up.

Yes you would , if it were in Brussels ! Yes I agree this timed warmup works well ! The thing I am also talking about is the guys who run the courses all day long! One way to stop this is also having the pros run first! Prime Time!

Pros should race first - including final brackets. Then the pros don't have to worry about anything and they can help cone judge and coach the rest of the day. Everyone would benefit from that. Audience and news reporters are usually on the hill early anyway. We should let them see some Pro racing!!!

As a relative noobie, I like the idea of having a fixed time period for practice. It sucks traveling to a race to only get two practice runs, and two runs before elimination...

And running Pro's first sounds good to me. (After the kids race that is...)

I agree that pros should be run early, but maybe not first. First of all, the first few races may have timer issues - they should be sorted out with ams. Second of all, spectators may be inclined to leave after the pros.

I think maybe juniors first - there aren't many of them, and they're "cute", or women first - they're "cute" and moms will be more inclined to stay and watch. Plus the ladies races have been real competitive as of late.

But then, I can see the Pros going. It takes spectators a little while to figure out what is going on, so this way when the Pros are going they have an idea of what is happening.

and as far as practice, the course should be set early and there should be open practice before timing begins. That always seems to work.

I don't understand how the pros running first will stop an open skater from poaching the course later?

Or how the pros running first will stop a pro from poaching the course during the pro eliminations?

If they are a nuisance than maybe they can get some bonus 10ths the next day...any Racer who finishes there race if they are smart will begin to rest for the next day.. or maybe thats us old guys! The Pros are the most ready to go group out there and with less cone plowing should be quick to run out ! It is true that most spectators are there in the early day.
