Greatest Rock N Roll song Never on a Skater Video

Post by Marty Agather » Mon Oct 30, 2006 5:35 am

All right gang, here's an opportunity to suggest the soundtrack for the next great slalom video. Posts welcome from all corners of the 50, plus any from the continent as well.

If there's going to be some Midwest Slalom in 2007, we're going to have to save it for posterity, not to mention to show the rest of the cats what they' missed. I'm not a videographer, so this list is as much for anyone as it is for me.

So what song do YOU think should be the soundtrack? Multiple entries are fine, since I've got a bunch rolling around in my head right now.

Since I got a taste of the Motor City Madman during the introductions of the Tigers during the World Series, I've got to start with:

Stranglehold, Ted Nugent.

Rock On,

Francois

I'm gonna have to put down a little Jimi and the Experience.

Purple Haze

Hey Ted/Pops,

Maybe we should think about that as the Twin Town Slalom team name??

aw c'mon, if youre going Hendrix, then you're going to have to at least pick something that's NOT on SMASH HITS....how 'bout Voodoo Child....or Easy Rider....or Wild Thing....or if you have to go mainstream, then Stone Free

The Extremist (LIVE) - Joe Satriani
Unchained (ask RonO) - Van Halen
Cliffs Of Dover (makes ya' wanna DANCE!) - Eric Johnson
Backwater - Meat Puppets

I could go on. I got three mixed CDs just to crank on the truck CD player when I skate.

Tom, I got all that good southern stuff:
Flirtin With Disaster; They Call Me The Breeze; Train, Train; I Know A Little. LOTS of Allman Brothers: Jessica, Back Where It All Began, No One To Run With, Statesboro Blues.

Oh, Elvis and PROMISED LAND. My fave by The King for runnin' cones.

CB,

I'll take your critique and doff my hat. Keepin it honest.

Actually what started this thread was a drive north a couple of weekends ago. As the metro area recedes in the the rear view, the options on the FM dial begin to dwindle. I was thinking about what smack I could get started over here, and this topic rang true.

So of course I've got to listen to the (say it with a deep FM announcer voice) "CLASSIC ROCK Station" s' plural as I drive in and out of range. And so every song I'm mentally putting to a skate video: Yes, no, yes, hell no! etc. So that is how Purple Haze gets on the list. But that triggers my next post.....

After much work, I'm within a couple of weeks of moving into my long dreamt about space, a dedicated listening room (ok ok, a crust of bread to the family, I set it up for video too), and at that point, I'll fire up the turn table, get out my black petroleum based recordings and dig down into the archives for some off the beaten path stuff.

BTW, CB, PM me with your phone would you? I've misplaced it.

Fransky

I LOVE MY XM RADIO!

The BIG TRACKS station, TOP TRACKS, and a few others just keep it coming. Sometimes I even roll over to the WATERCOLORS (progressive jazz) and ETHEL (Alternative) stations.

I don't know anything about SIRIUS, but whoever's programming on XM has their act together.

WT,
Cliffs of Dover F-iN ROCKS!!

Foo Fighters "My Hero"...

"Dont the best of them bleed it out
While the rest of them peter out"

I always keep that little verse in mind.........

One tune I love to skate to is "Blast" by Gary Hoey

Also, If you're into some stellar guitar tone check out Andy Timmoms, "Super '70s" and
"Pink Champagne Sparkle".... poppy blues based guitar shredding with some twists, kinda fun if your a guitar freak like me.....
