Who exactly decides how many PRIMES and MAINS should be in the USA East vs. the USA West?....

The number of high statuses are limited and spread out in different world regions. The main idea is to have a balance between West Atlantic regions (South America, USA and Canada) and East Atlantic regions (Europe, Russia, Asia, Australia).

South America, Asia and Australia have not been really active so far (including Russia also in fact) so the balance 2006 has been

West Atlantic Region: Total 6 Main (one of the Main will have Major status)
3 Main (USA West)
2 Main (USA East)
1 Main (CANADA)

East Atlantic Region: Total 4 Main (one of the Main will have Major status)
1 Major
3 Main (Europe)

This balance is the reason USA East can't just have one more Main (unless they decide to make a shift with USA West).

As a matter of fact it is more urgent to give Europe 1 More Main that is also one of the suggested changes to discuss for 2007. Rules changes for 2007 will be open discussions in the ranking rules forum soon.

What will be a new rule proposition for 2007 is to have no limits on Prime statuses as long as they follow the minimum requirements for a Prime status. To be discussed in the rules forum soon. As you see above the Prime statuses have written "2 fixed" on the side of it. I.e. there will be 2 types of Prime statuses, fixed and potential.
USA East will have 2 fixed Primes that will have Prime status what so ever. Then there can be other events going for Prime status and will get it if they can handle the Prime minimum requirements (i.e. 2 months notice, 8 pro's, n am's and maybe other things). As I said , more on this to be discussed in the rules forum soon.

Also I can add that we are working to get the World Ranking in under the control of ISSA.

Dates:

Downhillbillies-World Championships September 27-30, 2007 MAJOR
Statesville, North Carolina

Downhillbillies Dixie Cup November 2-4, 2007 PRIME
Statesville and Winston-Salem, North Carolina

As we agreed regarding rotation we will NOT be requesting a MAIN status for the Dixie Cup.

Candidates for MAIN in my mind would be in no particular order:

The Buckeye- Ohio
St Louis- Missouri
Luna- Mississippi
Texas Sizzler- Texas
Red Clay- Georgia

I can't speak for The Farm but I believe they were in agreement to rotate MAIN's.

If however, it comes down to there not being anyone stepping up to take both of the MAINS we need to protect that opportunity on the East Coast. Either The Farm or The Dixie Cup may be in a position to take the Main to keep the points opportunity. The key will be determining which race organization can bring enough pros to the table to actually get the MAIN points. That could be somewhat difficult for the Dixie Cup in that it is only a month after the Worlds.

The Texas Outlaws are submitting our request for Main Status for the 2007 Texas Cold Fusion Sizzler. We are the Grass Roots Slalom Tour season opener. We are committed to spreading the Slalom STOKE. We understand we have to raise the bar, we are in the process of talking to one of the tours best and knowledgable timekeepers on the tour, having him at our contest this year will be a plus. Marion thanks for the suggestion. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws.

Not much has happened here for 2007 season yet. Which is pretty normal I guess. The season is not yet close by.

Thanks's for having posting your stuff in previous years topics. Soon (2007-01-01) the idea is that ISSA takes over responsability of the World Ranking and its statuses. I think we have come a long way with the rankings. Thanks for everybody that has supported it and helped it on its way to what it is today. I have done my 4 years as I planned from the start. It's time for a new chapter.

My initial reaction is that a MAIN race status should probably include at least 2 events, rather than just a GS race. Otherwise, it is perhaps not attractive enough for the top-level racers to invest in travel if they only get 1 race in.

Open to other opinions.

===================== Update ===========

The contest organizer was informed that only a BASIC status could be awarded to this contest because:
A) Only 1 event
B) Unclear as to permits and insurance (So the road will be closed and available for racing)

When informed of this, the contest organizer withdrew the application for ISSA sanction.

Is this the proper forum for requesting a Main for the Buckeye Open 3.0 in July?

Not really.....

The proper method of formally requesting a MAIN status is to fill out an ISSA sanction application and send it to one of the N. America contest coordinators (Chris Barker, Eddie Martinez, Pat Chewning). The link for obtaining that application is 3 posts above this one.

This would be the proper place to have informal discusions about whether or not the event should get a MAIN status .... the place for racers to try to influence the contest coordinators one way or another.

I dont do applications....

Kenny doesnt do applications...

Pat, this was one of the best races in the states in 06.....This year will be just as good, and the venue hasnt changed.....

Should we just assume the Buckeye's going to get the main and call it a day?

Don't assume it will get the main status. Please fill out the form.

We really do want you to fill out the form ....
A) So racers can see the event description and see what is promissed.
B) Do it once this year and then just re-submit each year with minor edits.
C) Even races with only a BASIC status are filling out the application.
D) If you and Kenny don't do applications, then maybe you can find someone who can take the info from the NCDSA event description and fill it in for you?

Fill out the application Bara, or I'll yank your shoulder out.

My son was just asking me if we were going to this race again. It was a great road trip for us last summer, drove from California, picked him up in Colorado and drove to Columbus. Then back to CA for a couple of weeks and then drove to Hood River. Great times.

Hi Pat,

Is it necessary for us to complete an ISSA application if we are seeking Basic status for the Farm 7.0pen?

Thanks for your help.

No, but it does take a rather large cash deposit forwarded to the ISSA Secretary.

My people are waiting to hear from your people.

Yes, please.

If you fill it out this year, then you can do simple edits/updates each year. What we are trying to do is get a COMPLETE description of the event so that everyone knows what to expect.

It should take about 15 minutes or so to fill out.

I hope Tway meant prime. If there are points that will go unused, no sense in losing the opportunity.
