2012 Antrim Can / Am N. American Championship Sept 14-15-16-
I've just posted the signup for this race: http://www.ncdsa.com/contest_registrati ... 553#signup
I will update full details ASAP, including housing, payments, and any pertinent changes.. Don't hesitate to message me with any immediate questions or concerns.
I look forward to racing, and seeing you all again!!
-dk
>>>
Registration includes three days of racing: Tight, GS, Hybrid and a few oddballs if time allows. Covers meals for Thursday dinner (chili, byob), Friday night (pizza & salad), Saturday breakfast (full), lunch (sandwich, chips, apple), dinner (BBQ), party Saturday night - , Sunday breakfast (muffins, coffee, fruit) Housing is extra, and Maharishi is NOT a go this year - stay tuned, I'm working on it. Food and Tees for spouse, kids extra.
Divisions / Classes may be revised by registration.
Yes, it's the same glorious Can / Am race! Antrim's Home and Harvest Festival features food, craft fair, "eating stuff" contests (eew...) fireworks, pumping in the parade - dodging horse chips and hard candy, and wiggling to the Shriners crazy tunes - and bombing Route 202 under the protection of Antrim's Finest, while stopped, angry motorists glare at us!
We will again have great TV and video coverage this year! And Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson headlines the show once again at Tenney Farm's BBQ / Fireworks!

This race had been announced in the N. America section of the forum, but I think we'll do all the chatting here in New England on this thread.

We are good to go with lodging at Sargent Camp (BU Nature's Classroom. $30pp/night (add $5 for linens for the stay), we have use of a campfire pit, the common lodge - with coffee, tea, and juice always on & free - and a Headquarters building with kitchenette. This is 9 miles / 15 minutes from downtown Antrim. Right now I am just after a head count, but in addition to the dorm units there are cabins for groups of 8/10 - I'll accommodate requests as I can.

Who would want to do some racing in micro seconds as an extra this year? See who is really the fastest? My timer can do micro seconds so i thought it would be a little change from millisecond times.

If you haven't signed up yet, please do so ASAP. We're counting bodies for race bracketing, tee shirt sizes, and lodging needs - all due before Thursday. After that, we're winging it.

Payment info coming right up, ask for a Paypal invoice if you like.
Schedule still looks a lot like last year, Qual, TS50 and 100 TS attempts on Friday; HS on Saturday, bonus races if time allows; GS and beginners on Sunday. ALL subject to change due to weather, with priorities on Dual HS-A race.

Re: 2012 Antrim Can / Am N. American Championship Sept 14-15
Skaters,
If you are coming to the Can Am and not registered here yet, please do it. It takes 5 minutes, I need to know who's coming to make the best call on the racing brackets, and for your shirt size.
http://www.ncdsa.com/contest_registrati ... testID=553
MOST IMPORTANT - if you are counting on housing at Sargent Center, I need to know - which nights for how many people. Especially important if you are coming Thursday night. There are some cozy cabins for 2, 4, and 8, but if I don't know I'll have to book "the barracks" 'cause I can pack up to 30 in there. Get the cozies. For best results, email/message me NOW.
Skaters who are helpers - If you are coming ready to work, as I know many have offered, I need to know when you are arriving. If you can be at the hill Friday by 7:30, if you're in the "super helpers club" and I need to know your name and number. Saturday early setup is important too. Drop me a note ASAP!
Thanks for your help and for your speedy response!

Re: 2012 Antrim Can / Am N. American Championship Sept 14-15
The schedule looks much like last year UNLESS there's a problem that forces our hand:
Friday
8:30-9:30 Set dual HS
9:30-10:30 Practice
10:30-12:30 Qualifiers 2 runs, one on each course
12:30-1:00 Set 50 cone TIGHT SLALOM.
1:00-1:30 Practice
1:30-2:30 Timed runs, DUAL LANE, 2RUNS EACH.
3-5PM, for the top ( ) racers from the 50 and If time allows - 100 Cone World Record Attempts
Saturday
8:30-9:00 DUAL HYBRID Course setup
9:00-10:00 Practice and late arrival qualifiers.
10:00-11:30 “B” and “C” group heats. These stop at the parade and resume after A group is finished.
BREAK 11:30-12:00 Parade (course is closed to all racers, DQ’s to poachers)
12:00?-1:30 “A” group heats (15 min practice) dep on parade - EXPECT THIS TO BEGIN AT 12:30?
2PM-? Complete “B” and “C” groups.
BONUS RACE – Time permitting we'll add a jam to the end of the day suitable for all abilities
Sunday
8:30-9:30 Set single lane GIANT SLALOM
9:30-10:00 Practice
10:00-1:00 Timed runs. We will finish a run after 1:00 but no new runs will start after 1:00
1:00-1:30 Kids/Novice race setup.
1:30-2:30 Kids/Novice race.
2:30-3:00 Awards.
General:
All race times are approximate and times and formats may be modified due to weather or unforseen circumstances.
If there is a chance of weather we will give priority to the “A” group. Then “B” and so on.
Sub group awards will be such as Masters, Women and Jrs will be split out based on qualification times. There may not be a head to head run off. This will allow all racers to be able to compete against the entire field but they will be individually recognized by group.
Meals and Stuff (Included):
Thursday, the early crowd, chili at Brians or Ave A? Stay tuned. Both places are minutes from the hill by foot.
Pizza party at the Presby Church Friday at 6
Saturday breakfast at Presby, I've never been to that, they tell me it's nice.
Saturday bag lunch on the hill
Saturday night BBQ at Tenney Farm, concert, Fireworks
Sunday Am continental breakfast, top of hill.
ALSO Sunday the Presby would like some of us to get to the Church at 10 to honor Pastor Peggy, a short ceremony to give her fabulous scarf? signed by many of us and a picture of her with the skaters to the Historical society. I'm told it will be prompt, short, and sweet, it would be nice to do if we can get a little crew to go. You won't lose a run in the GS, we'll squeeze you in!
Race payments: paypal to davek at slalomskateboard d0t com or contact me for another method.
My final rooms count goes in tomorrow, if you haven't checked in on that, please do. I think I have 4x and 8x cabins remaining.

Re: 2012 Antrim Can / Am N. American Championship Sept 14-15
Thanks Maria!!
Per my last post Pastor Pegi's, dedication will be moved to our Friday night dinner. I believe there will still be a Blessing of the Skaters at the hill on Sunday.
At last count we had 36 signed up, so it looks like were going to have some great racing, especially in the juniors! If you haven't signed up on ncdsa.com please do.
Housing: There are spaces still available at the cabins, if you need one and haven't told me already, please do today or tomorrow. Includes coffee, juice, tea always on. Bring your own bedding if you can (it will be cozier I bet) as they will charge us more otherwise. If you can't, no biggie, but need to know before Thurs to have it provided by them.
Housing is at 36 Sargent Camp Road in Hancock, NH and directions are here:
https://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&c ... CCEQ8gEwAA
Meals provided:
Thursday PM, when it's ready or when you show up, whichever happens last:
Chili at Brians @ the Great Race Pow-Wow Thursday night, Jameson Ave is just off Summer Street
Friday PM
Pizza, Pasta, Salad & Bread Sticks at the Presby
Saturday:
Full All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast at 8:00-10AM at the Presby Church
Bag lunch on the hill, Sub, Chips, Fruit, Drink
Evening BBQ at Tenney Farm Concert/Fireworks, Dog or Burger plate, add $3 for BBQ Chicken
Sunday:
Continental breakfast at the top of the hill.
*
I'll post more little updates as they come in.
Can't wait to skate!

Re: 2012 Antrim Can / Am N. American Championship Sept 14-15
Does anyone have a great pic of Joe on the race course that we could use for the writeup article. I have a bunch of good stuff Oliver shot w/my camera, but missing that. If you have a couple great photos (of anyone) you would be willing to share for Can Am use and could send me hi-res by email, I'd appreciate it. davek at ironhorseaudio * c0m. Let me know who to credit.
Please and thanks!

Great time once again in Antrim! Thanks to Dave & crew for making this one happen. Just back to Cali today so lots to catch up on including pics/vids. Dave -- I'm sure I have plenty of Joe pics so will try to send through ASAP. Will be helping with coordinating CW coverage as well. Cheers all!

We had time to spare, a closed street, great weather, and plenty of help on hand, so we ran a really nice “extra” event on a course set by Claude Regnier. Same ramp position as the dual but we ran single lane, cones don't count (3=DQ?). This course got all the C group, who were side starts in the quals and dual, to roll off the ramp right then and there, and then they all took it off the ramp in the GS on Sunday! Thanks again to everyone who helped the kids and the new skaters along, that's a big part of what keeps us going strong.
Best of as many runs as possible in the list above. No points and no prizes, just good clean fun.
Except Dr. Dan, who I do think must have cheated.

Kudos to Dave who took the reins organizing the race this year.
I think we can all agree that it was a successful weekend. I know that I had a blast.
I'd like to see some pics! If you have any, please post 'em.
Hope to see you all again next year.
ps. Dave, Of course I won. It's a special feature programed in my timer!
