hangar mods

Post by Joe Boyle » Sun Sep 26, 2010 5:51 pm

Hi guys, I have been getting into modifying trucks recently as a cheap way to make a big difference, and I am thinking about cutting down some trucks. I have a bennett 4.3 and 5.0, and a 125 randal I want to mill down. I am thinking: Hammer out axles, or use stacks of bearings and a nut to pull them out; mark up desired cuts (10mm in each side) cut 1-2mm over on the waste side of each marking, then file and sand down, slightly domed. I also have a disc sander at school I may be able to use.

Improvements? I heard something about a knurl in the hangar to help with pouring or something? How about adding 8mm axles too?

Thinking about axle mods, 8mm coarse thread may be a good idea, just so I can change wheels more easily. What would I search to find an 8mm axle which is ~200 mm long?

easier to buy a counter bore, put the hanger in a drill and the counter bore in a vice, a bit of oil on the cutter heads and that's all you need. Inner bearing races make good spacers
turns are fun....
