Yes, our skate day went off!! Thanks for takin us around Pat. Huntington Hill rules! Juniors ditch was hot. The SX bowl ruled. I left Athens yesterday exhausted but wearing a grin!

Running 100 cones on Huntington was/is nirvana. I'll be back....

Really enjoyed skating with all you guys. Let's hook up again soon!

Any chance you can get that fella that was takin pics to post a few?? Also would love to see the vid! See if Jason'll hook us up.

What an epic skate day;
100 cones on the big hill...that was sick. there were a few
runs where I got to about 60 and my thighs were burning.
the right-hand curve that was banked and running
downhill was a tricky spot, kinda sucked the gravity from
under ya'! of course, the long walk uphill wasn't
helpful...next time we gotta hire someone to drive a
"shuttle" pickup truck or something!
Junior's Ditch...what can I say...it's been GNAR GNAR
since the day. I was happy to get home and see red clay,
concrete and grass ground into my kingpin, along with the
fresh, shiny, chunkily ground trucks.
By then, we had worn out the youngsters ...so me and
Tom continued to SkatersXtreme for a little bowl session.
We got there rather stiff/tired legged, and proceeded to
tear the bowl apart...we got in about 45 minutes at the
park, and called the 6+hr skate day over.
WOO HOO!

the "play of the day" at Huntington hill...
Quint's son was playing in the dirt and took his shoes & helmet off. then, he decides to sit on Quint's longboard and butt-ride down the (25+mph)hill.
next thing I see this little tyke with no helmet, no shoes...zipping past me, digging in his heels to the asphalt to slow down...I bet that little dude ain't got no tread left on them feet...ouch!

anyone for 100 cones next weekend?

Yer royal Patness - count me in. I'm afraid I'll have to confine my skateventure to only Huntington Hill this time though. Promised my kid she could go with me "next time", which'll be saturday:)

Took the mini-carve out for a spin yesterday. Fun deck!!

cool.
100 cones, saturday...noon again?
I'll let the others know.
maybe rick can join us this time.

that mini-carve IS fun. I'll be trying the cambrias saturday. that should be different.
I was watching the video...you guys running soft wheels were pumping the course more. I was running 92/88, so I was just rolling fast on a rail, not able to push sideways too much.
looking forward to saturday!
P's out

Yes to 100 cones, but don't forget your tight slalom rig, we got some practice to do!

Snowboard season is over, slalom racing is back in Athens!!

hey y'all.
I rode Huntington Hill yesterday.
I did the 100 cone(well, 100 paint marks anyhooz) course. I found that our "100" course is only 85! then I remembered that the kids were playing with "about 15" cones up at the parking area. doh!
the 86/82 cambrias are way grippy compared to the 92/88 Stingers. coo-ell.
AND there was a truck/trailer at the top of the hill with a bulldozer off-loaded. so it looks like it won't be long until the lots start getting graded and the road will get dirty and chopped up...
I am INVINCIBLE.

Patio - I picked up the cones the kids were playing with and put them at the end of the course. Is it possible we forgot to mark them?? Remember, the course ended right at the culdesac. Each of us brought 50, right??

hmnmm...I went back and paint marked all of the "X" rock scratches. it all looks right, but I only got 85...and it's right to the cul-de-sac. I marked them with this stencil I made with a little point to show left/right cones, that way I can ride the course without cones...the only place to add cones will be at the start...up the hill, there's enough room to place another 15, with a light uphill pump thrown in there at the parking area.
I had 25, Jason had 25, you had 50...that sounds like it should have been 100!?!
looking forward to tomorrow...
P's out!

yeah....imagine how I felt driving home after 3.5/4 hours of slalom in the Georgia sun. And to think, it's not even "hot" yet... The "rest" at your crib helped.

you gonna get a good hard practice in next weekend? Lemme know if so. iT'S looking more like Stl. might not happen for me, but I'll still drive up and help get ya ready....

ummm....what's up with that deceptive pic

man, that was HOT.
I am just glad I brought my CamelBack full of ice water. All that talk about urine rocks in the foot made me think...
I downed 46oz of water just walking back up the hills and all. If I hadn't brought the CamelBack, I wouldn't have drank half that much. not to mention the fact that having a big bag of ice water on your back doesn't feel half bad in the Georgia heat!
so if you are gonna be hanging out in the heat, walking back up hills, you should get one of these things to make sure you stay hydrated. I think most bike shops sell them.
...and next time, I'll ask the nice police lady to stick around and put my bombing run on her radar gun...
the needlenose is back in service.

Another outstanding session on the Hunting(ton) Hill!

I arrived shortly after 6pm to find Patio setting up a great little hybrid course at the bottom of the first hill - some very tricky offsets in there!

On the same section of hill (which is steeper than it looks!) in the photo above I set up a straight line of 6' centers. One, two, three, cone, cone, blow out.....it was the Gathering all over again.

Slowly and methodically I put my Hollien face on and within an hour I was making the course consistently, 2 cones out of 24 hit, and my last run only displaced 1 cone.

I'm ready for St. Louis, hope it doesn't rain here all week - I want more practice!!!
